Lots of people want him to play another year. But i think he should still retire after this year because there's no guarantee he'll be good next year. Stick with the original plan and go out on top, never having to regret sticking around one year too long
I agree I love Pujols but he is better to go out this way - You are wearing the Cardinals uniform maybe you can win a world series every team has a chance at this point.
dude is an absolute legend. I was a 14 year old kid playing EA Sports' MVP 2004 on GameCube, with this guy Albert Pujols on the cover. The career this man has had is just out of this world man. you have to think on some level, with modern technology like all our cameras and UA-cam and everything, this is the best we have to watch one of the greatest legends of all time. We can't watch Babe Ruth like this, but we can watch Albert Pujols and get very very close.
No doubt he could keep going, he's a machine. For his last season though, he's going out strong. 20+ years and now on lists with the greats in HRs and RBIs.
Yeah and he is definitely great....I mean real great. In the age of PEDS and other dark shadows that have haunted baseball, he is indeed a bright REAL shining star and will be missed. Albert Pujols is amazing.
The best player of his generation the best of the best. Even back then it was just fastball, that's why a lot those players could hit a lot home run. But Barry, Pujols generation is about timing clutch and execution that's why they are the best. And today day is going be very rare to see this generation hit 700hm..
This video is the most watched baseball for me. Whenever a superstar retires, it's refreshing to see opposing teams and fans show dignity and respect. Sure they want their team to win but even they are just as excited for their opponents fans to catch a piece of history. I WOULDN'T even hesitate, f I had the opportunity to give a piece of history to a opposing teams fan, nothing else would've mattered. And that's my humble opinion.
I remember watching Albert Pujols when he first came up into the big leagues and immediately started crushing. I was always amazed by him, but I never could have predicted that one day 22 years later that he would be breaking such mythical baseball records and be up there with Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth. Albert Pujols is a legend and this whole season feels like a movie at times because you couldn't script this if you tried. I feel so honored and privileged to have watched this man's career, and what an all-time great ending it has become. Thank you for all of the memories, Mr. Pujols :)
Respect to the St.Louis fans supporting this historic run. Notice the last home run was in Pittsburgh, and 90% of the crowd is Cardinals fans. St.Louis to Pittsburgh is a 9 1/2 hour drive. That's some serious fandom from Cards fans!
The Cards fans interesting history..... At one time, the Cardinals fans were all around the country because they broadcast a large radio signal across states boundaries. People in South Dakota could hear the cardinals game on the radio. Those old fans have passed on their support through generations. And Many Cards fans are known to travel, even for Spring training. I think that many people west of the Mississippi were Cards fans, at one point, because that was their closest team, and they were accessible by radio. Maybe still are.
If he's done this year then I hope he can raise his average 4 points & get to a 300 for his career. He never should have left St.Louis. His already historic numbers would be so much better.
@@OmegaSniper57 Roided up? He never even hit 50 homers in a season! His 162 game average is 37 homers. Guess what Hank Aaron's 162 game average was? 37! They have equal power numbers throughout thier careers. Damn guess Hank was on roids too. 😂😂
One of the amazing things about Albert Pujols is that he never strikeout over a 100 times in a season during his career. His average for 162 season is 74 strikeouts. Great contact hitter.
The way pitchers were grooving pitches down the stretch is pretty obvious. Two mid nineties fast balls and a breaking ball all belt high. Gee those are real tough to hit out
Don’t retire!!! 14 doubles from being in the 700/700 club( Doubles & Homers). He would be the first. 12 homers from passing Ruth. If I were Cardinals, & every other team that needed to sell tickets I would be doing everything I could to bring him back for 1 more year. Imagine how many more tickets the teams that would face the Cardinals would sell to see Puljos pass Babe Ruth for 3rd all time in homers. The guy deserves a retirement year. I am not a Cardinals fan, and I know he is not a numbers guy. MLB you got to bring this guy back for one last year!
Maybe it's a difference between the American League and National League, pitchers seem very willing to pitch to Albert, American League pitchers won't give Judge anything close to any pitches across the plate
I wonder if the way he is seeing the ball right now might make him come back another year. He is already in rarified air, but that RBI all time leader mark is so close.
Maybe he will do a Tom Brady and unretire. If he played to 45 he could have the all time home run record. The DH has extended his career. Pete Rose played to age 45. But I think he wants to call it career.
Ese chamo debería jugar otro año más para que supere varios récord para quede plasmado más aún a la historia de la MLB y proclame como el mejor latino de por vida 👍
That’s unlikely, but he could totally take the number one spot on the career hr and career rbi leaderboards. Only would need 20ish hrs and 30ish rbis per season. With one full season of how he’s been hitting recently he could do them both.
I recall Red Berenson scoring six in a game for the Blues way back - I remember Bob Gibson mowing down the Tigers in a complete game of about 2 hours, on October radio among the rotting leaf smell of E Dalhousie NS hunting camp - but this must be the greatest sports highlight day in St Louis history
Many never leave the Game on a high note ......but Albert is leaving like a rejuvenated young man...the Babe is looking down and smiling. May Albert enjoy the rest of his life
he’s only like 80 RBI’s away from the all time leader. That’s kind of a big deal. In my opinion it’s more important than the home run record. Because it decides games.
I'm afraid the nostalgia for these days will last for years once this is over, to witness something like this. The great Albert Pujols at 42 leading the NL in homeruns after the all star break to get to 700 now 703 with time to get to 705 before he retires? Can't say enough so I'm leave it at that
700 is a big number. But people don't often reflect on how many that is over a career, and how consistently productive you have to be to do that. A guy who hits 25 homers a year -- and 25 a year is a very good number-- has to do that every year for 20 years just to reach 500. Which is why most people don't even get close to 500. Over that same 20 year span, to reach 700, you need 35 a year EVERY YEAR. Most players never hit 25 home runs a year, much less 35. Most players do not have 20 year careers, regardless of whether or not they hit that well. And most players who do have a few years with those numbers only do it a few times. To do that every year for that long is a remarkable feat.
@@eriklakeland3857 No, it doesnt. But staying would have done a lot for him mentally and emotionally. He went west for the money and it didn't end up being what he thought it would be.
