I have a real JX-8P, the sounds this thing can make are freakishly close. I think the hardware is slightly warmer some of the time, sometimes the plug has the edge I think. Even when the plug sounds a little too clean to be real, it still has this warm sound, alive, not dead sounding like those Roland boutiques!
Sounds good through phone. I figure through monitors too. Very nice. Why go broke hunting down a half-broken vintage Roland 80’s DCO-equipped synth when there’s this? Sorry if that’s incendiary…not intended to be. I’m sure the original synths have their special unpredictable anomalies or noise etc. that people may want. And the keybeds etc.
Hey, I can relate. I spent the 80s pining aver those massive analog Roland sounds and never quite having the money, and by the time they were going for dirt cheap on the used market I was married and slogging my way thru college. Ship. Sailed. Then in the last few years I found Cherry Audio's wonderful inexpensive Juno 106 emulation, a couple of other Roland-esque things, and finally THIS beast. Loaded up with some of Espen Kraft's marvelous patches, I've finally found the 80s synth nirvana I missed all these years. Now to get it to where I can reliably trigger the VSTs from my guitar synth setup.
Old synths are obsolete unless you use them in a band and need to show the listener you are playing on something. Even than nice controler and a laptop would do. I've seen people in bands using computers like 30 years ago. Why not. It would be bad if your computer start popping up software updates in the wrong moment. Have to delete and disable anything that's not music related on your laptop. 😅
Frustratingly, the web-site lists version 2.0 downloads but upon running the synth I'm presented with version 1.0. Would love to know how to get hold of version 2.0.
Unlikely to happen because this is a clone of a JX-8P which didn't have a Sine Osc. You're not right about that being the most basic thing a synth must have - most analog synths don't have Sine Oscillators.
Quick inquiry: Is the download for this quick & immediate, like Spitfire Labs & Odin II, or are there those restrictive account signups/fields & special zipfiles/drivers? Most excellent demo series btw, thankyou!
Ciao! I suoni che senti nella mia demo sono un mix di patch trovate online e suoni fatti da me. Se fai una piccola ricerca, troverai decine e decine di pacchetti di preset per questo plugin.
TAL-UNO-LX does a really incredibly Juno emulation and many people love it. Free trial has an annoying riser noise every 30 seconds or so, but I got it on sale half off.
I extracted the audio from the video. Then I load that into my DAW and converted the sound to MIDI. I also copied the settings into the plugin and then fed the MDI into the plugin (so it played the same notes as int he video). Wierdly enough when I play the keys myself I experience the same as you, not quite the same. However, when the same setting are played with the MIDI I comes pretty close. In the video, as decribed, an extra reverb is used, so that will maken some difference too. Interesting experience.
@@adl-musiclab Thanks for the info. From what I've read that's an emulation of the EMT 140. Sounds really nice on the PG-8X! I've been playing around a bit with Voxengo's OldSchoolVerb (freeware) lately. I'm probably gonna use it in one of my future videos.

I've had my JX-8P since 1986 and this plugin hits the mark!

Nice sounds! Totally going to get and experiment with this!!
Thank you!

This sounds great whoever has made this has definitely captured the Roland JX8P in a fantastic way.
Martin Lüder is the genius behind this amazing plugin!
Grazie per il video dimostrativo e per avermi fatto scoprire questo bellissimo VST.
Grazie a te di averlo visto! Ho intenzione di pubblicare molti altri video con degli ottimi plugin gratis. 🙂

wow best emulation so far maybe beating roland

VST on mac..cand find it in DAW! HELP?
Saddly,it doesn t have the sine osc which is among the most basic thing that a synth must have.Maybe a future update will bring it.
I hope it too!

could you make the patches you used here available to public?
I really need a AU version of this!!! I use Logic!!!
I download it but It hasn't this preset. Where I can find preset?

Compatible with MacOS Sonoma ?
this sounds freaking amazing. do you know of any other roland software emulations, like the alpha juno, jx3p, or juno 106?
Softube Model 84, not free though

does it work on windows 11
i swear some pf these are wrong i dialed in the exact same settings for the one @ 5:41 and it sound nothing like what was played here.
amazing ! can you build it for linux vst ? it's working now via carla bridge
It is made by Martin Luders of ML-VST. I don't know if it works on Linux system.
Sounds really good! I just downloaded it.
Is there any chance you could share those patches?
I wish I could, but some sounds were not made by me. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly which ones.
@@adl-musiclab thanks for the reply - no worries. Will have to sift through random patches found on the net to find the gold, haha
@@adl-musiclab ohhh, I just realised that I can just copy the slider positions from the screen!
does anybody know where to get the king henry patch
I made all the controls exactly the same as for the preset 14 but it doesn't sound quite close. 😅

I also understood YT causes some compression in uploaded videos, so maybe some compression may make it more similar.
What kind of reverb effect did you use here?
Just a little bit of Soundtoy's Little Plate. 🙂
