- We made the trip accross on Friday late afternoon and stayed through Sunday afternoon. The wind was up in the cove and the Sea Lions were plentiful. We were able to snag squid the first night but it wouldn't float. We caught a nice variety of fish: Kelp Bass, Bonito, Sheepshead, Rockfish and 3 nice Yellowtail (2 at 30# and one at 23#). We caught them on surface iron, yo yo iron and sardine. A fun trip in the early season that produced great fishing!
Big boys!!! Congrats Geoff!
Thanks! Those things salvaged our trip
Nice .really enjoyed the video and you guys know how its done out there.
Nice going on the Yellows G!!!
Thanks! Sorry you couldn’t join us on this one
Man , those were some Big yellows !!! What kind of Jigs did you guys use ? Light ? Heavy ? Taddys?
One on a mint Tady C, one on a Salas 6X Jr scrambled egg and one on a Sardine.
What fish was that at 8:50 in the video?
It’s a Black Seabass. Not legal to keep these so we let it go.
@@geoffheldoorn9060 wow these are extremely rare. What an amazing encounter.
@@sab35263 actually they have become pretty common along kelp beds and in areas where there are squid. We hooked 3 and landed 2 with releases on this trip
What day did you guys go out exactly?
