I don’t understand what the relationship of the 3-4-5 triangle is to the upper left hand stake. Looks like you arbitrarily just place the stake even though you say otherwise, but how?
Hey, the upper left hand stake is the one we are moving until it is square to the baseline. So at first I use the blue drywall square to place the stake close to square, and then hone it in with the 3-4-5 and adjust it to make it more accurate. Does that make sense?
If the stake in the top left corner is not in the correct spot the hypotenuse will be longer or shorter than 5' indicating that the line isn't straight. Typically you would use a right angle batter board in each corner outside of the proper square. This will allow you to square all corners.

Now I understand the 3-4-5 triangle to get a 90' angle...for a square area. And you added the circle and curved path as well!
