I love it when someone makes a really useful "thingie" that works great. Wonderful, and I can think of lots of things this would be perfect for. Thank you both so much.
Terrific video. I made a simple brake like yours out of scrap material I had and used it successfully to bend / make the corner panels for our deck railing. Thank you.
Brilliant! I have a project coming up that will need such bending. Thank you for sharing. I will once again give you credit for making things easier for me. :) Thanks!
Thanks. If you have some spare lumber and and a few hinges this is a simple way to bend wire mesh panels. Even better would be to use a clamping block that had an angle of about 85 degrees (non square) to allow for the wires springing back. This will be especially important on smaller mesh panels, e.g. 1" (25mm) mesh.
I had been looking at plans for building a sheet metal press brake to bend expanded metal mesh (stucco mesh). This will do the job and it is much easier and cheaper than the other alternatives. Thanks much.
I need to unbend the top area of mesh of a woven wire fence. My horses are bending the tops over from reaching over for the grass on the other side. Any tool thatll help?😢
Yippeee! Thanks for sharing this very clever trick. I'm excited because I'll be bending wire in the spring and this will be GREAT! We're NEW to homesteading and learning how to do Everything. Do you or other viewers have other ideas for other applications?? Love the tomato cage tip. ...."Oh, Huuuuuubbbbbbbyyyyy..... I have a project for you!" Giggles and Smiles!
The first thing that came to mind was the two Inuit characters in the movie Never Cry Wolf one speaking Inuit and the other speaking English. Tyler would tell the Ootek through Mike the other Inuit about his mission to find out why the caribou population was dwindling and after a lengthy response from Ootek, Mike would translate his response to Tyler with two words "Good Idea"
THANKS FOR THIS DEMO!! IT'S A GOOD IDEA, BUT, I'M GOING RE-DESIGN MY OWN, AND BUILD A BENDING BRAKE FROM HEAVY STEEL, AND STAND IT VERTICALLY, SO THAN I CAN SEGMENT BEND LARGE CIRCULAR RINGS, WITH OUT HAVING TO LIFT THE INCREASING WEIGHT OF THE BENT PORTION. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO IT ALL, WITHOUT HELP.
Will you be trying again next spring to breed the same turkey's and Tom ? Or will you be trying with fresh batch like you plan on doing with your chickens ?
Well, my pigs are supposed to be KuneKune, but they aren't registered, they don't have the wattles, and they don't resemble other KuneKune pigs I've seen. So, I suspect they are crosses. That said, they are very docile, extremely easy keepers (they live on next to nothing) and the meat is DELISH! I should have piglets to sell next year (June-ish) and they will be in the $50 to $100 range in the lower peninsula, western side.
Now that they are free range, I think I stand a better chance of getting them to hatch out some chicks. I plan on putting out a doghouse or two as Spring approaches to encourage them. If they aren't successful this year, however, I'll need to make a decision about them as the plan was to eat their children.
The poor mans "press brake". What a great simple improving way to get great results. This is one great video to show how to live. Thank MP.

Very good video, and a great inventive way to form stock panels into shapes for other uses. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking the time to film and post this.

Oh amn you are a life saver we have been trying how to make our own tomato cages! Now we know! Thanks so much.
That is awesome. We don't have our homestead yet but this is great info for the future!!
Thanks for the help. It’s working perfectly.

Genius!
What a great idea!
Thank you for sharing that.
Most metals have some spring back...so to get a 90 degree bend, you need to bend it an additional 5 degrees or so. Then it will return to 90.
Thank you! I made one yesterday and it worked beautifully on the first try. I put a 90 degree bend in a 16' feedlot panel.
yeah!!! Thanks for sharing. : )
Easy built my version of this and it worked easily and well.
What a great idea...Thanks for posting.
Clever! "Easy peasy" says the one watching. lol ; D (Will have to show the hubby this one.)

good DIY video, thanks for sharing.
Oh Boy! Got to show this to uncle T!!
would be good for making all wire rabbit cages.
Nice

Cool! I didn't think about stock panels for tomato cages - They'd be just as sturdy as those Texas tomato cages at a fraction of the price. Thanks!
Cool stuff!
That bender is great! Is there any.plans for the bender?

Great update, thanks.
your point is valid.
Thanks for sharing.
What gauge were the rods in those panels?
cool idea thanks for sharing
The are supposed to be KuneKune, but I suspect mine are crosses.
I need a close up on how you attach the hinges please
Sorry, this is an older video and we borrowed this "bender" from my husband's brother, so I'm not able to do that as it's back at his house.

Can you use this jig to bend the panel into a cylinder? I want to use cattle panels to make fruit tree protectors.
I don't know. We only used it as shown in the video.

Relax MP, deer hunting has many benefits. You know,.... oh yes you do.
