Hi, the piece of plywood that you put in the description has a different price than what you said. I want to make sure I get the right size so can you please give me the dimensions of it before it was actually cut.

The video does show or explain how the cords are attached to the cord that plugs into the wall. Can you explain that part? And do the 3 bars connect with each other?

Anyone building this should make sure to use LED lights. If those were all regular light bulbs, that would be 960 watts running through that extension cord, which will start a fire.

Na that extension cord is probably 13 Amps (bought one from walmart that looked the same and its 13 Amps) and rated up to 1,625 watts. But if you were to get a really low amp extension cord you could have problems on your hands tho.

Girl you did a FANTASTIC job on that mirror! I ordered mine off of Amazon and spent almost twice as much as you did! I wanted to build one but I wasn't confident enough in myself to do it so I had to wait for tax time to buy it. Good job! You could build these and tell them for $300 easily! :)

Don’t forget the ‘pull test’ to make sure you have good electrical connections! Pull the cap to make sure the innerspring in your twist on cap is ‘grabbing’ the copper wire. She did a good job! Looks great!

The green screw that you ignored is for electrical ground. They get wired the same way. That way, if the lights malfunction, you don't energize the metal and electrocute yourself or start an electrical fire. This would also require you to use an extension cord that has a ground connection.

    • @laurenbbt
      @laurenbbt 5 років тому

Mathew Peterson so what do you do with the green screw?

So much is impressive about this video. You really didn’t know what you were doing and called your father for advice and counsel, you asked for assistance when you needed someone to hold things while assembling, you did it correctly and showed others how to do it properly, you are quite attractive, and have a fantastic mind. Genuinely impressive. Great job and great results. That is legitimately first-rate work you did there. Well done.

Loved your video and how your vanity came out absolutely beautiful. I love finding easy DIY projects for things that cost way to much or are out of my price range. YES GIRL! I love seeing other females build things, create things from scratch! The instructions for the wiring aren't very clear and concise, and I think that some people who don't know anything about wiring may have some problems following the instructions... but the rest of the video is totally worth watching to see exactly how you made this work, and you make it look so easy to create this masterpiece... thanks for sharing. I really feel like I can tackle a project like this and build a beautiful vanity mirror for myself! Cant wait to start :)

I love DIY videos and I do actually watch a lot of them. I think it's great and allows you to be self-sufficient but prior to watching this video, I checked and they all seemed quite expensive but then I checked again, and found out few places that they sale Vanity mirrors for less than 60 bucks. In this case, although I think doing everything on your own from scratch is such a great idea, I don't think I would contribute since it takes a lot of time and effort to get the job done. Despite all, I think your tutorial is amazing and your did a phenomenon job and thank you for taking a time and showing us how to do it. xoxo

There are a lot of power cords that are rough on one side and smooth on the other. It's a way to tell the negative from the positive wire.

Nice video. Ordered all the stuff mostly from lowes and Michaels. It ended up being around $420 total, I didn't have any of the items and had to buy them all. The 5 bulb white were all sold out everywhere, so I ended up ordering the chrome ones. I will be recording and doing a how to video. Will send you the link once it's finished. Thanks for the inspiration my girlfriend will love this!

I was lost on how the vanity lights are all connected with one socket... didn't see the back

There's one extension cord that you leave the male (prong) end on, and when you strip the female end and wire connect them to the final vanity plate wiring, it's a complete circuit.

You’re a trooper Kimberlyn. I’m here thinking of asking an electrician in my neighborhood to do this for me!! But watching you! I may be able to do it myself. I already have a mirror w/a frame around it and K was thinking I might can add the lights on the frame of the mirror. We had to redo our house after the flood and I changed out the vanity lights so I would only need the top lighting. I haven’t measured anything yet though!!

Girl that's way too much work 😩 I rather just spend $300 on a real vanity before I go crazy trying to make that 😂

    • @haleycasper1847

Arielle Pritchett A Mirror+vanity like this can be up to $600. I've been looking all over the place for a descent set without braking the bank but that's not happing. Haha. It is probably really time consuming but in the end if your saving money and you can be a bit proud of yourself for making it. 😊
