Engine sounds tight but I was holding my breath when PH was zooming along and you’re clambering around one handed with no safety harness..one bad bump and no bueno…looks like fun and love your channel!!!
Mate - Been following along and enjoying watching you for years now and it just keeps getting better and better. Fantastic to see you've found a worthy ship mate and thoroughly looking forward to the adventures and mischief you both get into.
I don't like them, it's a gimmick so if you're into gimmicks go ahead but if this turns into the gimmick channel and you're the salesman then it's going to suck.
God bless is really nice I like hearing the band play. Never had a chocolate waffle before I bet that was really good. You really going to some nice places stay safe out there Sam God bless you and thanks for sharing your trip with us. Watching from near the West Coast California
Loving all your videos Sam, and I can only speak for myself but I thoroughly enjoy watching just for your positivity, enthusiasm, and honesty. The epic sailing journeys are like the icing on the cake 😊
I’ve been hooked on your channel for a long, long time. Great content. Every time a new lady appears I say to myself “oh, maybe this is the one for Sam” and I’m certainly not trying to settle you down. Keep ‘‘em coming!
It's so cool for those of us who love sailing but can't always be out there. Thanks for taking us along and giving us that sailing feeling!..............⛵⛵⛵
The eastern part of Belgium actually speaks Flemish, very similar to Dutch. Regardless, for several business trips and my first anniversary vacation, I had no problems to speak of using English. Brugge is touristy, but highly recommended. You mentioned chocolate, which is cream-based rather than milk-based. My other happy discovery was that many of the towns have their own brewery. My corporate hosts took great pleasure in entertaining Americans on their first night of jet lag. Good times!
Hey Sam. Really enjoying watching your adventures. Thank you for sharing. I'm really interested in the wind vain which steers your boat. I'd appreciate if you did a deep dive into this piece of equipment and how it works and why
Thanks for bringing us along Sam! really love following your travels and it gives me the inspiration to trudge on through the refit on my old Pacific Seacraft Orion 27. Dean
You’re in different classes, but it would be cool if you met up with Roger Barnes. You’re heading to his neck of the woods, and you appreciate small boat cruising. Enjoy your travels.
I sailed into Zeebrugge ones on the Sedov. As usual I was up in the top crows nest at about 150 feet height. That was way before we had drones and I guess that was kind of a fpv drone view. 😃 Anyways, I'm glad you had a quick stop in Brugge. It’s definatly worth a visit. Cant wait to watch your next sailing adventures. ⛵
Great content Sam. Particularly appreciate your practical approach to equipment and your easy style. Have fun out there. Look forward to your adventures crossing the Bay of Biscay and the Med......
I am gradually deciphering the order of your videos on UA-cam. You are in the waters of my ancestors who left their home in Germany and traveled to Belgium to sail to the Americas. Wow! I like your 360 shots.
Sam i just gotta comment and say your smile is goddamn infectious and your videos always warm me up inside. thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Love your content, Sam! I'm making my five-year plans to sail and explore the world myself. This year I'm crewing on a race boat to get some more sailing experience! Looking forward to see you blasting through the English Channel!
Good to watch as I delivered a customers boat along that coast and up to Amsterdam a few years ago, interesting places to visit and I’d like to go again when cruising
Hey Sam! Love your vids :) Two things for when you get to France : 1) If you stop by Cherbourg, there is a nuclear submarine that you can visit, I think there are audioguides in english and you can activate all the clicky switch. 2) A lot of smaller ports will not be open in this season, so no one to answer the radio or pay. I use the Almanach du marin breton which has information/plans on most ports. Info is in french but you have the plans (including visitor places in ports), prices, phone numbers and which VHF channel to use (moslty 9). (just heard the end of the vid, Cherbourg another time then)
Hey Sam, love watching your videos, very inspiring. I gotta say though, on the foredeck without life jacket or lifeline - how long do you expect to survive in the frigid north sea if you accidentally fall in? What size is the PH, 28' ? What is the nav app you use on the phone?
Been following you al the time nice to see you come in holland Belgium en England may boat is in Vlissingen it's may backyard. looking forward for the next one to England.
You move a lot around that boat. I didn’t notice you hooking in. Did I miss it? I could have since at my age I miss a lot. Just worried about you s safety.
Great watching your videos. My wife just bought us a boat, just a small one. Quite unexpected. Don't have the sails for it yet, and don't know how to fit them. I'm sure it will be fun and very rewarding. It's a Sailfish 18.
That was fun! Thanks, Sam. Miss you, Mom
I miss you too! I went sailing on a race boat today.
Hi Sam's mom, your son is cool. Big fan.
@@samholmessailing Video of that?
@@samholmessailing Sam you need to go visit your mom ! 😂
Has Sam's mom been to EU Belgium?
You know Mom's Day is coming up...
/Ducks 🦆
That 360° camera is Very Cool. You are sailing on Top of the Earth 🌏
But I think it’s 180°
That jetboil gimbal is cool.
Engine sounds tight but I was holding my breath when PH was zooming along and you’re clambering around one handed with no safety harness..one bad bump and no bueno…looks like fun and love your channel!!!
I had the same concerns about the safety issue.
Had a friend fall off no harness sailing solo from Lisbon for Madeira, his boat arrive a month late without him. Really sad.
Mate - Been following along and enjoying watching you for years now and it just keeps getting better and better. Fantastic to see you've found a worthy ship mate and thoroughly looking forward to the adventures and mischief you both get into.
yes
Using the audio track from that percussion band over the other Bruges clips is some clever filmmaking. Always a pleasure to see your videos.
Thanks
I thought it was Sam on his Casio at 1st, really cool editing
The 360 shots are outstanding! Very cool!
Thanks Ive been very impressed with this camera as well. More to come!
I don't like them, it's a gimmick so if you're into gimmicks go ahead but if this turns into the gimmick channel and you're the salesman then it's going to suck.
Those are really cool cameras, you can edit them and just use portions of the data ! Thanks Sam , nice stuff 👍
Thanks!
Best sailing channel on you tube
I’m restoring a 22 ft Bristol caravel currently and your videos keep me inspired! Thanks for sharing!
Love my Caravel 22.
And i am restoring a HALCYON 23 of 1970 in NL actually... you can see it an my channel LINUS - Adventures & Travels
You have gotten so smooth with your production, a long way from your breakout single handed run to Hawaii. I really enjoy your videos, thanks Sam.
Love that you are always smiling!! Most of the sailing videos, the people are all smiling!!
Beautiful English Channel.
You'll love the Med! Clear water, wind, good food, lots of ports!
Sam, the trick to beach the boat on these sandbars is to attach a heavy pole to side of the boat to keep it up. We call it wadpoten (wadden legs)
God bless is really nice I like hearing the band play. Never had a chocolate waffle before I bet that was really good. You really going to some nice places stay safe out there Sam God bless you and thanks for sharing your trip with us. Watching from near the West Coast California
Thanks
cool side gig, keep developing that side..
Thanks, Sam, for your videos. You’re a brave soul! Cheers from Manhattan Beach, CA.
Always cool to watch your videos. I really like the no nonsense approach to everything in your life. Thanks
What beautiful old buildings.
Loving all your videos Sam, and I can only speak for myself but I thoroughly enjoy watching just for your positivity, enthusiasm, and honesty. The epic sailing journeys are like the icing on the cake 😊
Sick! I traveled to Belgium by air, but it was really neat to see the sailing trip! Live it up dude!
Always a good time watching the adventures of Sam Holmes. Have fun Sam
What a great video. Now I’ve been to Belgium.
The contrast to Mads' ship shape Athena and concern about venturing into rampage orca territory is stunning ... and needed/welcomed.
"In Bruges" great movie and great town.
Enjoyed this video,,,the shots on the boat were the best!!!
Great route to Belgium. What happened to Analene?
Its not just the sailing. Its your "roll with it" attitude from port to port, that im a sub. Always enjoyable.
Thanks for the videos mate! Love watching them.
Thank you for giving me the inspiration to buy my own sailboat. Just bought mine 3 weeks ago and can’t wait to finally learn how to sail!
All the best to you. That's my aim now that I'm in early retirement.
Great video! Those 360 shots putted a smile on my face!
Sam your videos are so cool. Thank you.

The cooking mount is pretty awesome!

Fantastic video. Awesome audio mixing. Thanks for nsharing
If I'm not mistaken, you said you were going to cross the Mediterranean sea, you can tell when pleas?
This makes me so jealous . . . looks like a hoot - and then some.
Good to watch as I delivered a customers boat along that coast and up to Amsterdam a few years ago, interesting places to visit and I’d like to go again when cruising
Love the music It sounded a lot like a steel drum band down in the Caribbean
Nice to see you back on pickled herring!
Your boat is so cheerful on this downwind sail.
I like this video and I'm Belgian, sea-going mate.. nice!
Love every video Sam. I never thought you'd get me to buy an ebike before a sailboat though 😆
Bruges is a great city. The beer and the chocolate there are amazing👍

yes i don't think he's ever mentioned any plan for falling in
@@o_oo_o1812 I don't think any sailer are planning to fall in, but accidents happens.

Belgian native here, glad to see you stepped in all the tourist traps!
Nice sailing Sam, you just passed my birthplace near IJmuiden and where I live now, Bergen :-) love your video’s!!
I guess you have just proved the Earth is not flat. ✌️ ❤️
You move a lot around that boat. I didn’t notice you hooking in. Did I miss it? I could have since at my age I miss a lot. Just worried about you s safety.
Noticable improvement in audio - sounds great now!
Great video!
Thanks for the video Sam. They're turning the sea into an industrial regulated landscape. Won't be any sea left in those parts soon.
Awesome 👍 bravo
I'm from Brittany, when you're in st malo (my hometown) you should sail down the Rance!
Great watching your videos. My wife just bought us a boat, just a small one. Quite unexpected. Don't have the sails for it yet, and don't know how to fit them. I'm sure it will be fun and very rewarding. It's a Sailfish 18.

Glad you're having lots of fun Sam. Didn't think about Belgium as a destination but it looks worthy of a visit.
Cool stuff!
Another great one!
