@ansioh Thanks so much for the kind words! I tried to create a female character, but I just couldn't get it quite right. I'll keep trying though. As for more diversity with the players, that is a fantastic idea! For this video, I just copied and pasted the same player model, but in the next ones, I'll take time to make sure that we have a more accurate representation. Thanks again for the feedback :)

It would be cool if you could do a series on Volleyball, both on the court and on the beach. There are many tactics that are hard to understand with the positions switching in and out and strategies.

This was an amazing tutorial. Really. I've been watching hockey for a little less than a year and picked up on a lot of the in-game stuff, but I didn't really know what a defenseman was (I basically thought they were players more skilled at defense instead of offense, but they're an actual position), or what most of the zones meant.
Most of the stuff I knew was from The Mighty Ducks, but other than line change, it didn't really explain the rules all that well. It doesn't seem like "fighting" is really enforced in the NHL, though.

      1. Get puck in other team's net
      2. Offsides - The puck must cross the offensive line before an offensive player
      3. Fist fights are sometimes OK
That's about it. That's all of the basic rules of hockey. Everything else you'll pick up as you go.

I’m canadian…I’m 28 but I’ve been watching hockey for over 20 years and it, along with soccer, is one of the easiest sports to understand lol….the only thing that might be hard to sometimes understand are the penalties and offsides (which is when the player crosses the offensive blue line before the puck does) but other than that, it’s a really easy sport to understand lol

Also (if you didn’t mention it) the blue lines are used for ‘off sides’ or ‘on side’. To be off side that means that a player is in the offensive area before the puck. That means that the player is in the zone then he or she touches the puck. They will then use the other face off points in the neutral zone.

An offside is basically where your skating really fast, and you get into the other offensive or neutral zone before the puck is going and gets there. Also, it can also be when you move out of the zone the puck is in, and go back in in a short amount of time. That will cause the refs to call an offsides play and a new draw will be done.

This helped me so much! All I knew about hockey is that it is "sorta like lacrosse" a sport I know well. I watched a couple of games, and while I could see the similarity in speed and setting up shots on goal - I just didn't how the players worked together (In my head they were missing a defensive player). This cleared up many of my questions. I will look for more of your videos to clarify my additional questions!

An interest in watching ice hockey can strike at any age. I saw my first ice hockey game in person less than two weeks ago. Now I am a fan; I would qualify for senior tickets if they are offered. Last year I moved to where the SPHL team Rail Yard Dawgs resides, but I didn't even know there was a hockey team until the Dawgs won their league's championship, the President's Cup. Our neighbors offered guest tickets and transportation to the last home game this year. My husband didn't have a bad time, but I had a great time! I attended my next game solo, and he has agreed to accompany me to the first game of Round 2 in this year's playoffs.

I would only like to mention, that "configuration" of officials can vary depending on level of tournament. So mentioned attendance in video is the maximal one (but there were not mention video referee since by the rules he is also attendant at goalkeepers bamch) but there can be only two refs on ice and only two refs on goalkeeper banch. This can also vary depending on country. In Czech republic there is no more goalkeepers assistants delegated (as far as I know).
Be at goalkeeprs banch during match is very interesting thing. Especially if you are delageted as penalty box attendant and the atmosphere on the ice starts to thicken. You can also learn a plenty of new words.

Yeah it was good for me too when I started
just curious who’d u end up going with?
One thing I did struggle with was understanding what a delayed penalty meant and why the team that had it didn’t have their goalie in net
Incase u had the same struggle here’s how it works
Let’s say the Leafs are Playing the Habs, and a player on the Habs trips a leafs player while another leafs player has the puck
The referee can’t just stop the play because what if that other Leafs player was about to score?
So the leafs are given a DELAYED penalty, meaning the second the Habs regain possession of the puck the whistle is blown (play is stopped) the offending player is sent to the box and the power play starts
This means that if the leafs pull their goalie to get the extra attacker it’s safe
because if the Habs get the puck they can’t score on the empty net as the game stops the second they get the puck

@ I actually went with the leafs lol
And thank you sooooo much for the explanation because I did in fact have some struggles with understanding a delayed penalty
      Thanks

I would have also pointed out how to tell the deference between the Referees and Linesmen. The Referees uniforns have an Orange Disk on the sleeve.
