I just saw this last night. I completely get what you mean. I was pretty into Silence of the Lambs and really liked the Hannibal series, and man, this movie goes hard at the 'tribute' to silence. Some parts almost felt scene for scene. Mine and my friends takes were that all the elements were there, they just didn't go hard at anything in particular. It had the really tense supernatural themes, but they kinda didn't do enough, they had some very solid creeping scenes and disturbing dialogue, but kinda kept stopping things? I think they could have done a lot more with Longlegs himself, of all the things to be a bit shallow with I thought he'd have had a lot more time. I didn't even catch why they call him Longlegs haha

I feel the same about the word "thriller." It's been used a lot to indicate a bland, rounded-edge plot. Part of it is horror being considered "immature" by some, but thrillers are "mature."

And this year's Razzi Award for the most laughably ridiculous over the top performance of the year goes to Nicholas Cage🏆
