I was hoping someone was adapting "I'm a Search and Rescue Officer for the US Forest Service, I have some stories to tell" from r/nosleep. It would not even need jumpscares, the stories themselves are already disturbing and creepy.
@@sleezzzyp There's this reddit post with some creepy stories from a guy claiming to be a search and rescue officer. Worth a read if you're into that stuff.
I know what you mean. I’ve got a vivid imagination so whenever I read dark and disturbing stuff, I can visualize and it is creepy. I guess actually SEEING it gives it a whole other level of “reality”
@Bitsy83 Mr Ballen is a retired Navy SEAL. He is a UA-cam creator, and he tells tales of the strange, dark, and mysterious story format. His channel is worth the time, but be warned you can get lost there...
A Missing 411 style horror movie is actually such a cool concept for a horror movie. Despite how ridiculous some of them are, there are a few of them that are genuinely unexplainable and I’d love to see it expanded upon!
Yeah a few of those 411 stories are so unbelievably unexplainable. Its freaky af sometimes. Read both the books its about time someone did something with it
@0:26, she talks into the walkie talkie and says "114, over". It's seems interesting considering David Paulides has a series of books about mysterious disappearances in national parks called _Missing 411._ I wonder if her call sign "114" was a subtle reference to _Missing 411?_
Of course they took that from missing 411. Instead of a weird horror movie, I would have like to seen something more realistic, like a based on real events or a documentary. I'll stick with following David Paulides work.
@BPFDesigns i will say fact driven, real events, with common sense, that keeps the people informed, that add value is why, i think we need more of that. we have enough horror movies in our society already.
Oh my god I’m excited for this. I was there when the first Missing 411 stories were being posted on Reddit and I’ve been hooked on ranger horror stories ever since. This looks so good, and I love the choice for main character! Super excellent.
Don’t forget she was in an episode of Black Mirror called “Hang the DJ”….. not really a “Horror” episode but definitely has a level of existential dread in there.
It also kinda reminds me of the Fears to Fathom Episode 4!! The IronBark episode, where we have to control a character who's a ranger as well, and also there were missing people in it too
This honestly seems good. I usually love those videos that talk about the missing persons stuff like in the woods and how strange and unexplained they can be, especially ones from Mr Ballen. Cant wait for this
That would be sick if they incorporated the staircase myths into this movie. I’ve read about park rangers or just people in general finding staircases in the middle of the woods that I guess are supposed to go to another dimension or something. Always thought it was an interesting idea and would be cool to have it in a movie like this.
That would be really cool! Did you read that set of stories the staircase myth came from? Search and Rescue Woods by Kerry Hammond it is full of lots of unexpected disturbing things like the staircase . Most horror stories set In the woods would feature things like sasquatches , werewolves ,feral humans. The stories take thing in a very different direction
The little ghost girl, the one saying "wake up!" is actually just the main character as a child. Supposed to be a twist that she was taken as a child and either got away or was let go. It was *supposed* to be a twist but it was super obvious in this trailer thanks to the diverse casting.
Written and directed by Teresa Sutherland, it was filmed in Portugal. It starts with impressive wide shots of a forest with slow creeping camera movements that zoom and rotate until completely flipped upside down. It's a surreal sequence. I love when movies set the tone this way!
Did you notice her call sign @0:26 "114, responding, over". Coincidence? Her number is 114 and David Paulides has been studying mysterious disappearances in national parks in a series called _Missing 411._ Seems like it's an intentional part of the character, #114.
I got really into that at one stage. And I'd feel bad not to mention that a bunch of real life rangers/ search and rescue folk and other assorted experts have come out and more or less universally deemed it rubbish. This was a guy, keep in mind, who believes in big foot so much that he claimed to have gotten real big foot blood. And when it was inevitably proven fake it nearly destroyed his career if not for the Missing 411.
Backwards letters are so early 2000s and I laughed when I saw the girl shimmying down the tree. Probably not the reaction the director was looking for. 🤣
“The woods are lovely dark and deep and I’ve got promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.. do you hear me butterfly?.. miles to go before I sleep” so does anyone get a lap dance in this movie?
This feels like a movie of the old "I'm a search and rescue officer for the u.s forest service" stories a while back that just had a bunch of unexplainable and spooky things happening. Cant wait.
I'd just like to add that 'thousands of people' do not go missing in the woods each year. Pretty sure the National Park Service would lose its funding after the first two hundred.
The NPS doesn't have a database that tracks missing people. However there is a "Search and Rescue" dashboard that tracks disappearances and in 2017, for instance, there were over 3400 people reported missing. Also...you know not all National Parks are strictly wooded areas right?
Fun fact thousands of people don't go missing in national parks annually and are never found. Roughly only 1600 people have been lost and never found. Another fun fact over 312 million people visit said parks annually which means you're far more likely to go missing outside a patk 😂
Exactly. Also, the majority of those disappearances aren't "unexplained." They're very easily explained. It's extremely easy to get lost in the wilderness. Add getting injured to that and it's a pretty strong likelihood that you're going to go missing.
My wife's voice appears in this trailer! "There's no database for people who go missing in the national parks." Her name is Steph Grossman and she got to know the director Teresa Sutherland after reviewing The Wind back in Episode 1 of the Basement Girls podcast.
