IndyCar... making racing fans happy nowadays, while f1 and nascar fail miserably. Thank you guys! congrats to Scott and sending good vibes to mr Wickens!
9th for O'Ward is such a great result. He fell back to 10th but once he got a hang of managing those tires he was flying. Considering he was 10th before his first pit stop and Rossi came back through the grid and passed him, 9th is an excellent results for his first race.
People laugh but if we can get enough kids within 5 years of each other in the series this sport can start filling the stands again. F1 has really stepped up their game in the last 3 years with really close Indy style close quarter racing but nothing compares to an actual street course and balls to the wall ovals. This is why I prefer Indy racing series.
It's sad that so many people follow F1, but Indycar gets little love, considering that Indycar is much much better racing. Perhaps Alonso coming will wake people up and they'll realize what a snoozefest F1 is in comparison.
Calling all IndyCar fans over the age of 18. Call your significant other and start making future IndyCar fans ASAP. The future of the sport depends on you! LOL
this is the only road course/street race that doesn't get a huge crowd on the Indy circuit. Otherwise they draw really great crowds at Long Beach, Road America, Mid Ohio, Detroit etc. The Ovals they have some work to do to get the crowds iout. The Indy 500 is in a class by itself, Gateway so far has been really solid, Iowa ehh ok and Pocono is ok. the rest of the ovals are horrible. I don't know why but they pull in the crowds for the road and street courses. though.
People in the Bay Area have way too many entertainment options and too many hippies just sitting home getting high. You can see this in Oakland A's attendance as well for example. Hot playoff team and they only draw meager crowds. I think Laguna is going to be an even harder sell for Indycar as it's even more out of the way than Sonoma.
Bill Dineen like I said to Steve Spam there was a day when this race packed them in. Baltimore really screwed up they had the crowds for 2 years then it was gone. I'd love to know what went wrong.
Excellent drive Scott--the one eyed race commentators wanted Rossi to win but unless Dixon DNF there was no way Rossi would have won the Championship and given what was on the line in this race a race win was almost nothing. From one Kiwi to another we are totally proud of you Scott.

@@homeperson11244 it does have to do a bit with Nascar since it was going to be very tight (end of Nascar and start of Indycar). In fact, on lap 9-10 they went back to the Nascar race as there was a red flag in Vegas and the race was restarted. At least at that point you could change to CNBC to watch the Sonoma race

Greg Murphy - multiple Bathurst winner .Brendon Hartley - LeMans winner & WEC ,FIA, World Endurance Championship.] , Scott Dixon has not got a raz a mataz personality , but is the quite achiever & leaves his talking on the track.[ice man] But as time goes on and history will reflect,that he is a Legion, and one of the best of Indy car champions.!!! 5 x times sofar & still counting..lol .
So sad. A's my favorite American league team. I don't know how old you are but the A's were a sports sensation. Hopefully they will draw for the playoffs. The crowds will come to a race if its a happening worth traveling for. But I do agree with you. Is SF homeless population as bad as the media portrays it to be?
Jeff Krosnoff? It can happen anywhere. The common denominator is always one thing- the catch fence. If we can improve the safety of the fencing, as we have with the barriers (SAFERbarrier) then we could hypothetically still have safe oval racing. Just a thought.
When you are at the track and an Indycar goes by, you feel the vibrations hitting your chest. You can't come even close to that experience with a glorified Smart Car racing around.

I love Indycar. They look awesome, sound of the engines on a road course is beautiful, racing is intense. I love american open wheel racing!
