I cannot recall Nicodemus ever sitting down on a riddim and tearing it up, like how Cat tore up "The Vineyard Style" I don't think Nicodemus was built for that style of delivery. I think Cat would out class Nicodemus if they went head to head.
In my opinion Early B had a far better lyrical construction than Nicodemus. Early B and Nicodemus both had 2 different style's. Supercat seems to have incorporated both of their styles, so whether hes singing a story type of lyric, or a lyric with a repetitive 4 bar style of lyric, Cat has adopted both their styles. If you listen to Junior Demus for example, he has adopted Nicodemus's style, so you see that Junior Demus has no similarities to either Cat or Early B. I was never a fan of Junior Demus, as he had the repetitive 4 bar style, and appeared to be struggling to freestyle when he wasnt actually freestyling. Buying time by repeating his bars. Supercat would switch to a different lyric or topic whilst riding the riddim to finish it, instead of constantly repeating bars if he had a short lyric, instead of repeating the whole lyric again, where as Nicodemus and Junior Demus woud repeat the bars, or the whole lyric. So id say that Early Bs influence on Cat was a bigger input on Cats career, than what Cat got from Nicodemus. Cat had a bigger vocabulary catalogue of words than Nicodemus, if you were to listen to all of Cats and Nicodemus's songs and live performances, Cat would have used far more individual words than Nicodemus would have used. Early B would be above Nicodemus hands down in my book's.
I rate Junior Demus but the Stone Love & King Addies dance with Nico, Supercat & Louie Rankin, I wasn’t feeling him tbh. He’s got lyrics but his creativity and style did not shine dat dance imo!!
Early B fi sure, Cat style change when reach King Stur Mars, den when migrate to America is a next change. Dats when him sing Mud Up and di rest. Demus is a bigger veteran dan Cat by far.
