Just found this gem of an interview -- so glad you posted. This was an exciting time for band enthusiasts, with such a distinct production style and some very melancholy and moody influences in the writing, along with subtle blues influences. A fascinating album that I always saw more as a complex piece of art than any of the other albums.
Was he still clean at this point ? He is still skinny and has his cheekbones. Whereas by the time of The Final Fling, he was flabby, and puffy faced from booze. I'm surprised how he still had a full head of hair in `1995 at 37 years old, and here he is at 41 losing his hair really bad.
