These gloves are great, I use them on an aqua bag. The pluses: extremely comfortable, very natural feeling, you can make a really great fist and feel you have total control and accuracy for your combinations. They may be light but actually if you're throwing more combinations, faster and more accurately then you can have a better workout.
The Cons: not many, but on a very heavy bag I can sometimes feel it a bit more on the wrists compared to when I'm wearing my much cheaper 16oz Adidas. But those 16oz gloves don't have as much speed and accuracy
I agree with everything you say here.
I bought a pair a while back and they're excellent bag gloves! 🥊🥊
glad to hear you like them. i really like Rival
I will definitely check this one out
specially since I like Lighter Gloves
oh yeah, then these will be perfect for you!
I have this (RB10) for bagging, RS11V for sparring, RHG10 headgear, and even their handwraps and RGB10 duffel bag lol.
Hahahah....Rival posterboy right here. I like their gloves and headgear.
@@expertboxing I wanted Winning but could not justify the high cost. I know they are amazing though.
Love your channel mate
Thank you, love you too!
Wish you would include a short video of you hitting the bag with bag gloves... it would be a much more optimal review, just a recommendation.
Good idea and I’ll keep it in mind for future videos. I’m usually recording these at the end of my day and sometimes tired already.
@@expertboxing totally get that I understand. I train first thing in the morning, but if I were to wait to the end of the day then training would be the last thing I’d wanna do. You do a good job at your review and you describe things clearly and answer a lot of questions someone would have about the product. But I think if you wanted to really make these reviews the best they can be you should film yourself hitting the bag for a few rounds working on all the different factors like power, speed, long/short/medium range, durability etc. and then show some clips of you hitting the bag and then give your opinion on how they felt. Same thing with boxing shoes film yourself using them and do a bunch of different foot work drills. Just trying to give you some tips because this is what I’d wanna see and if you stuck to that I’d use your reviews in my top consideration of products.
Do you get the size it says or size up
Hey Johnny! Get the Rival Fist Work weight guantlets to go with those Doomfist gloves that you're rocking.
hahahahaha!!!
There are two types of great boxers
1)great boxers who have a different career than fighting, but they are great sparring partners for pro fighters (if they want they can fight but they have days jobs paying well and allowing them to box as hobby)
2)Great boxers who chose fighting as bread earner career
If you are not earning your bread from fighting, you should always wear 16Oz and above, no point of owning light gloves since you will not compete with 10oz
If you are full time fighter, then you should definitely have light bag gloves to mimic your pro gloves on bag. This is why Rival came up with Guerrero bag gloves where they literally converted a pro fight glove (10oz) to bag glove.
amen!!!
I appreciate the d3o application but it is just a great idea in theory for boxing equipment. For a motorcycle helmet, it makes super sense because d30 hardens when Met with a force, but once it is hardened than it becomes a hard material. For a bike accident, it is great to have that in one occasion and you buy a new helmet but for boxing we hit 100 times or get hit over and over so unless the material hardens and softens like a gel there is no point. In my view a gel layer which is covered with latex for response would be the solution. Gel is great absorber, and latex is great rubber to heat the snap sound, aka pop, Reyes has that, in fact if you take a Reyes glove and drop it on a floor, glove will bounce like a rubber ball, that brings the pop factor,
Rival makes great gloves and sometimes Chinese manufacturers sell us USA companies a material, I appreciate the try but I don’t think d3o will trumph the other bag gloves that are shock absorbent.
I get it they cover the egg with d3o and egg doesn’t crack, yes but keep dropping again and again after the first impact you will see egg will get the impact. After the first impact, all you have is a hard plastic in front of the foam, so it is the foam you rely on after all. But imagine you have nice gel layer and over that has nice Reyes latex foam, you get the snap and gel cushions all the force to your bones
thanks for this breakdown...i’ll have to test it
If it soften after hardening, like repeats the cycle of contracting and relaxing, then it makes sense but if it becomes hard after the impact I feel like absorption won’t be sustained
Hey Jonny Thanks
What are your thoughts on Old Skool Mitts like the olden time boxers like dempsey, ray robinson, h armstrong would use ??? Thanks
good if you know how to work light
@@expertboxing OK what like light punching not too hard punches?
been really wanting to try a pair of these out. You should put up a video of you hitting the bag with em.
Ok, I'll make one later. I really prefer heavier gloves with more padding. These will work just fine, though.
Hey Johnny I read your blog about boxing gloves and you seem very passionate about hand protection. A couple guys at my gym use knuckle guards that they put under their wraps. What's your opinion on them? Are they good for protecting your hands long term?
I don't personally use knuckle guards but if they feel good to you, use them!
Are these gloves only for bag work? Can they be used used to hit the pads and body shield with your trainer?
for sure they can be used for mitts and body shield as well. basically any surface really. just that if you were to spar, then you might want something with softer cushion and heavier weight.
Would you pick these over cleto reyes training gloves for bag work?
Is that an elastic Velcro strap right there?
Yes, a small part of the strap is elastic but most of it is not. It's a good strap.
Is Rival as good as Winning?
Not in my eyes, but some people love them just as equally.
Whereabouts in US are you? I bet Cali
Yeaup, Cali!
Hi,
Is this the most supportive glove on the wrist? for bag and pad work? Currently have an injured wrist and looking for the best.
Thanks!!
if you have an injured wrist. get a thicker fuller glove. like 16oz weight
What would you recommend for bag gloves between these and win1?
Both are nice. It comes down to personal preference.
@@expertboxing knuckle protection and feedback wise?
So is the protection good? I destroyed my cleto Reyes in about 8 months the padding is imploded inwards. I’m looking for a replacement do you think these would be a good option protection wise.
The protection is good.
Do these gloves have a nice pop or a thud sound when hitting the heavy bag?
more of a thud on a bag and maybe more smack on mitts. it’s a small glove and dense feel.
im cofused with rival sizes. Im looking to get 12oz mainly for bag/pads, is 12oz the small or medium size?
Contact Rival and ask for yourself. I think their large is 12oz in actuality.
Is rival rs2v exatcly same as rs1 just with velcro instead of laces ? Cus hand comparment and fit looks perfect on rs1. But rs2v photos seemed a bit different to me thanks
Yes, that's exactly it. Same thing just different strapping system.
Are these OK for sparring?
I wouldn’t. they are too light
They make a non mesh one for anyone wondering. I dont remember the name of them but i know they exsist
You mean like an entirely different model? Or same model?
expertboxing its same brand rival. They might be the older model of those actually. They are blue mostly i believe. But yea same model jus different materials
I maybe mixing them up wit another model but they are very similair
Good video though my man. I like rivals new stuff. In terms of training gloves
Yeah, I want that RS-100!
Man I just want gloves that don't rip from the inside. I'm sick of my title and everlast gloves always ripping.
hahahah yeah those gloves use crap lining on the inside. which models do you have?
👍🏼

I know i know, absolutely unrelated but are you married?😳
