I absolutely love the nuthatch, it shows "bird on a stick" elevated to a much higher level indeed. If you ever go crazy and decide to make a coffee table book.....I will be first in line to buy one, preferably an autographed one!!
So nice Tim...... It's a project I would love to do some time, I just dont have the time and the Return of investment would be awful. I did a both with someone a while ago but of all the images in there, maybe 3-4 are book worthy comparted to what I have now (2018 vs 2024) I have a strong desire to do birds and native plants as a coffee table book. time to complete 100 hours. Sales 5 (Tim and my family)
agree 100% - my favorite though is diffused light - just enough cloud cover to get rid of the shadows - there's still plenty of LIGHT for about any setting for a great variety of subjects - instead of heading home by 9 Am I can stretch out to about noon - then I'm tired and need a nap :)

Question: In diffuse light for songbirds, do you recommend exposure compensation to help bring out the detail and colors in post processing from the RAW file? Thank you. Your videos are extremely informative and I enjoy your quick thoughts as well.

Those were quite educational for me. I falled for not really getting out with camera when light is harsh. I think I will start to go for BIF now. It will be great training for those shoot that have to be nailed during golden hour. Especially that on my favourite "birding ponds" I could get something for harsh light, golden hour and blue hour.
Also how do You found active ducks during blue hour at dawn? In all my "duck places" they are still sleeping, or maybe north american ducks have other habits than european ones ;)
Also I learned that I probably want nail a photo of pair of Great Egerets that starts flying at aforementioned ponds just when golden hour transitions into blue hour. Not as "classic" BIF at least. I have to think about some artistic twist.
