Imagine handing this demo to anybody in 1985 and explaining to them that within 6 years, this dude would become one of the biggest rock stars in the history of pop culture, penning some of the most beloved and ubiquitous songs and would sell tens of millions of records. I would be like, " You're out of your mind, bro".
It’s been over 30 years since I’ve heard the Fecal Matter demo. A guy I used to skate with always played this at the skate park along with the Flash Gordon Soundtrack. Weird combo… You can always really hear The Melvins influence on Kurt in these songs not to mention the fact that Dale Crover is the bass player. Great upload! Cheers..
Spank thru was a great song even way too slow and San Antonio has always loved swampy metal. Plus, skate punks were purveyors of weird new music. When the first love buzz/big cheese came out we literally melted the love buzz side so it skipped all the time cuz the grooves were too thin. Good times.
@@geffcassuto so being that Dale is a beast and did go on to temporarily drum for Nirvana when needed in Fecal Matter he actually did play bass and Greg Hokanson DID IN FACT, PLAY DRUMS. I assummed that Dale played drumsnfor a long time too but evidently not. Crazy.
2022 Im 42 and I finally hear this. What!? Bit old in the ear but still appreciate it. ...(more than the Grohl band) I think this may be....really good fecal matter. Not many views.
@@TheDukeofDavid So, so late to hear this. Would have been great to have it back when I was listening to bootleg Nirvana concerts. It reminds me that concert in New Zealand (that's where I'm from) from 1992 was recently released on Y.T A few years ago I stood on that stage and thought of the rocks stars who have played upon it. There was an Easter art show there at the time. Was a strange melancholic feeling.
I love hearing Kurt scream his head off during the whole album, but his vocals on Annorexorcist are my favorite. Surprisingly not that hard to sing, just leaves your throat sore afterwards.
Dammit, I really wish 'Sound of Dentage' would have went on to become a live staple for Nirvana....imagine that song live in the '93 Era with Pat on 2nd guitar if you must....
This is the rawest, nastiest, and most disgusting piece of garbage I've ever heard and I love it. Part of me prefers it to Nirvana. Wish they'd release a remaster on streaming or something. Also does anyone else think Kurt's vocals sound like black metal on "Insurance?"
i wonder what his friends and family thought of this at the time they were given their copies of the tape? I like it and find it intriguing but at same time, as a person who plays guitar and writes songs, I cant imagine coming up with this, ever at any time in my life. He must have had some serious inner disturbance and possessed boundless energy to convey it in song.
This is very hard sound and like band rock last 80's "i can't enjoy all the music " but some part of sound in this band " becoming nirvana sound " but i can enjoy that's sound.
It's actually pretty good, the recording is definitely rough but it's not nearly as bad as a lot of underground black metal. The vocals are interesting, a bit of an acquired taste but pretty good. The drumming is nice too.
During Laminated Effect Kurt says “Kept his body clean” which was a line in Even In His Youth. I wonder if he repurposed the lyrics from Laminated Effect and put them Even In His Youth
idk how you messed the names up that bad bro. what you call "insurance" is actually vaseline. class of 86 was never called "buffy's pregnant" and idk why people think it was. anorexorcist was never called "love my family", idek where you got that from.
Wish they could isolate the vocals and guitar off this, then have Pat, Krist and Dave record a mix of this album. Amazing album despite the recording quality.
@@skelter1153 We already have the original version, it’s awesome, but low quality. So yeah, I’d definitely love to hear a version where Krist, Dave and Pat play in it and it’s mixed and mastered better. That would be amazing. I think almost every Nirvana fan would want to hear that. You’re telling me you wouldn’t listen to that album?
@@MadMalikBand Whatever, big fan of Dave, Dale and Chad Channing. The drums on Fecal Matter are poorly recorded. The whole album is understandably poorly mixed and recorded. I just think it would be cool if the surviving members of Nirvana did some group colaboraron to recreate the album with Kurt’s original vocal parts and guitar. They could get all three former Nirvana drummers involved. That would be awesome.
@@andrepereira744 i don't know why is it so hard to some people to appreciate Dave Ghrol's work on Nirvana, i mean does it bring any good trying to discredit his work like the guy did on that comment back there? So true. That’s why the whole Nirvana thing is so amazing. It was literally unbelievable!
I’ve never heard this before and I can see why Krist decided to join Kurt after he listened to it. All of the raw potential was there.
