The results from crayola shocked me so much! I hope this proves you don’t need super expensive pencils to create a nice piece. Have you tried using solvents for blending before?
@@thomastesla9107 I've been an artist for many years. It doesn't matter what pencils you have it's about the technique, layering, practice. So many artists shared videos of using cheap pencils but still made beautiful art

No artist have i found (till i found this!) a video comparison of cheap pencils vs carandache that resulted to a seamless drawing! its because you are good. Its not the material but your patience and technique!
I’m glad to finally see someone who put effort into the cheaper side. Every time I see one on these videos it feels like the artist has a grudge against crayolas (or something) and never puts the same effort into the crayola side of the drawing. Like, I’ve seen professional artists colour quickly, with terrible technique on the crayola side, and then put the craziest amount of effort into the expensive side. Those kinds of videos really discourage budding artists with less access to expensive supplies. Thank you. And yes I recognize the fact that I’m late.
I am absolutely in love with your channel. It’s because of you that I’ve decided to try and draw darker skin and experiment more in my art. I was never confident with colour pencil and I’m still not but you’ve inspired me and I want to try some more. (I’m 15, East African from uk) ❤️ you are officially my fav art channel
I would like to add with Caran D'ache you're paying for the fact that the colors are archival, so any art work you make could last for hundreds of years if stored correctly. Crayola will fade over time, but they're perfectly good pencils if you're not selling the art you make with them
I agree. My drawings I colored with crayola and rose art have faded alot over time. Looking for something better. Of course my artwork isn't framed and have been moved alot during their life.
Yess I loved this. I'm deffo ordering the Crayola pencils. I'm also really looking forward to more colour pencil comparisons. You've slightly inspired me to try colour pencil drawing but I ain't got the coin for the more expensive pencils at the moment.
You can probably wait till black Friday or Christmas and pick up some prismacolors. I got mines for as little as 25$ years ago. It's way cheaper than when the original price was about 70$
I’m shocked at how good of a result you achieved with crayola, just with enough patience and the right technique you can get great results. The biggest difference I personally notice when using more expensive pencils is definitely when using the white pencil as I like to use it to blend colours together as well as highlights

I was actually surprised at how well the Crayola’s performed. Of course more expensive brands are going to be just that much better, but if you just do art for fun and don’t really take it that seriously and are on a budget, Crayola’s are great coloured pencils and if you keep improving your skills, you can learn to create really amazing things with only Crayola’s!
Being an artist and musician; I constantly get asked what type of materials to use, or what type of instrument to buy, and my answer is always the same for both. Whatever you feel comfortable with and is within your price range. I have a friend who has a $350 set of Caran d’ Aches, and one day our kids were playing and got a hold to them. She flipped out; which in turn made me flip out. I told her that if her materials were worth more than the fun she’s suppose to have while making it; then she wasted her money. You can create beautiful works art with crayola pencils. There’s nothing wrong with them.
Creatologys coloring pencils are also really good with blending and they have a big of variety so I’d recommend trying them but if you don’t like them, the set comes with a lot of other things like oil pastels, crayons,(both with a ton of variety) paints, and more
This still turned out really well and love the way you explain things along with the video. I use quite a few brands of color pencils. I don't actually like prismacolor though some of them have nice coverage. A lot of mine are different brands of cheap pencils that I can afford. The one brand I cant stand is artist loft.

Wow you are a spectacular artist and you are very good at explaining and expressing what you're doing, what you're attempting to do and why.. for someone who isn't an artist I found this very interesting and comprehensible ... well done and thank you
A huge factor not mentioned is : Lightfastness. Crayola's are NOT lightfast while the Luminence are archival and lightfast. Also note alcohol markers are NOT lightfast. This very much can and should effect peoples decisions about art supplies how/when to use what and for what purposes.
There is also a toxicity issue with using solvents to be seriously considered even 'odourless' actually tends to still give off dangerous toxic fumes you just don't smell them. Be informed and take safety precautions. Always allow solvents to fully dry before touching or further working a piece. Use proper ventilation , etc.
Luminance's much higher price is VERY much because of their high lightfastness not just their superior smoothness and blendability/workability.
It is a very important concern.
I also use many mixed media art supplies just be aware of lightfastness and go into purchasing and using informed.
I hope this helped someone.
