KAT doesn't have the mentality to be a franchise star. He's a super skilled role player, that lacks the toughness to capitalize on his size advantage. He has most probably reached his ceiling. If I were part of his circle, I'd be getting him working in the off season in a combat sport like BJJ to help him get over his reluctance to get physical in the paint.

That would get one of them off the court. Now you double the other one. You also use less energy on offense.

It seems with the new CBA.. the nba doesn’t want team like the 2010’s warriors to happen ever again. They probley want a different champion team every year with the occasional back to back team.. it’s good for business if you league doesn’t become predictable.. but sadly good teams will fall victim to the CBA.
They also want to stop players like Ant from getting supermax contracts undeservingly so super teams will still happen in the new CBA good role players just wouldn't be paid max contracts anymore. Teams can build a team with 2 max players and a good supporting cast of fairly paid role players. the time of Role players having one good season then demanding 20 mil a year is over.

Anthony Edwards was very big reason the Wolves lost the series against the Mavericks. It's not a great look when "the future face of the league" had so many games with terrible shooting efficient and turnovers.
Edwards is only 22 .... I don't like his attitude but he's very talented.
Every star player has a series or two where they struggle before getting over the hump. Ant clearly need to become better (which he certainly will), but this series was lost because every player on the wolves underperformed. But this is why teams don’t win with the best player being 22.
Even with that terrible series, for the playoffs Ant shot 48% while Luka shot 43.8%. Luka is also averaging more turnovers, but everyone will have you believe Luka is playing phenomenal

Minnesota had 2 Allstars, DPOY, and 6th man of the year. The Bulls didn’t have that kind of team early in MJ’s career. Kobe won championships from 21-23 years old. Magic was finals MVP at 20. Everyone’s circumstances are different so I don’t think it’s a good idea to compare them. Minnesota had a team good enough to win this series.
Yeah but they lacked experience which those teams you mentioned had. MJ had 6 years of experience, a coach with experience and a really solid and deep team. Kobe had Shaqs experience along with a few others plus the same coach that got MJ there. Magic was MVP but that was Kareems teams and if he hadn't been injured was the MVP and Kareem already had experience too plus a few others on that team. Even the warriors had experience and a coach who won the championship as a player. Wolves are mostly young and inexperienced. Conley showed up out of their veterans but Gobert didn't.

Just 2 of your examples had something comparable (a 22-year-old leader or closer), but both those guys also had a team captain as such above them. They weren't the number 1 guy yet. I think for ant he needs another year, cause he’s only 22 and this was his first deep post season run in a really competitive west. He did well most of the post season though which was good to see. Same with KAT, however I think the problem is there offense as well. Not specifically the players(maybe just Gobert) but the coaching was questionable at times, like in the series against the nuggets, I didn’t like how the wolves kept letting ant get the ball at the top of the key to start the offense. They needed to let him move around and shift the defense, but they didn’t and it almost cost them the series. Again, I think ant needs to get better in those situations. But I think the offensive coaching adjustments need to get better too or else it’ll bite them in the long run. Plus gobert should’ve let Luka drive to the rim, idk why bro was guarding all the way up at the top of the key.

I think a real interesting trade for the Wolves is something like "Dejounte Murray and the 1st pick in the draft for KAT and maybe a first round pick". Glad you mentioned the KAT-Thibs beef. KAT just isn't the kind of player that fits the Knicks, and with their need to pay Brunson, as well as OG, this summer, it's not happening. Washington would be interesting, but KAT hasn't shown an ability to win. It only started showing when he had Jimmy Butler and then Ant.
There is no way the Wizards would give away the #2 pick, and certainly not for KAT. The Wizards are clearly still tanking, and KAT doesn't fit their timeline. The only teams I could see take a flyer on KAT are lottery teams that already have an established top guy and want to make a quick jump to playoff contention. The way I see it, the only team that really fits that bill is Charlotte, and they probably don't want him either.

As a Pelicans fan, I both like the idea of trading BI for KAT, and hate it. If KAT can grow, then hell yeah; but he’s not the type of guy who would benefit Zion off-court, so it’d try to snag Mike Conley or another solid vet to who has a voice in the locker room.
Unpopular opinion but KAT is a great player and has put ego aside to help the team win. What MIN needs to do is add one-two good role players who can give more offensive options. Naz was not enough. MIN needs Monk, for example. Then it is championship caliber.

If you watched Karl this year compared to the rest of his career. There has been a complete mentality shift with him since Rudy arrived. He has bought into the defensive side of the ball and although statistically it wasn’t his best, he just played his best NBA season yet. The silly fouls will never go away. But I would build around Ant, KAT, Jaden, Naz. And trade Rudy. I appreciate Rudy and the mindset he’s brought to the team. He’s a great competitor. But our issues aren’t on defense. They’re on offense. I’m not interested in trading one of the best offensive bigs in the game when that’s where most of the teams issues are. The Wolves are a well structured offensive system away from a championship. Finch’s offense is basically just freelance and take turns. There’s no structure. That doesn’t work in the playoffs. Ant is athletic enough to overcome it more often than not. But Kat is not.

Fans need a story to build over several years, with teams progressing over time - it builds fan interest. Look at MJ - fans had several years to build up interest before he played in a finals.
Good video. I do disagree in the vision of the team. Remember Ant has such a great potential, but he still lacks of consistency. There were long stretches where KAT was the one holding them close to either DEN or DAL. Tossing him away to an irrelevant team would be a major waste of talent.
