Thank You! Thank You! Thank You Very!! Much!!! This is something that I always wish to learn because I love football so much and want to has a football mind.!😂
@@TheFilipFonky it was a brand new team with one maybe two practices a week so not much time to teach all the positions everything they needed. We have brilliant coaches and players with loads of knowledge now. Used to get smashed by 20/30 points but currently sitting 3rd out of 9 teams in the division
Ah... Prevent defense... It prevents you from winning the game. There is only one use I actually agree with keeping it on: The hail mary defense when there is literally only enough time for one or two plays left and a lot of open field. Short of that, it really just lets people move down field at will; which I don't find it nearly as worth it in.
The Doom From Latveria I mean you can stop them from getting in field goal range with a long pass too. Its better for them to get short passes and run the clock down then for them to get a huge gain
So actually the players position name differs depending on the formation of the play! I never knew what any of the names of the positions were except center, quarterback. I think that's all I knew. I still enjoyed every game because I understoon downs and yardage, interceptions, fumbles, and most of the penalties though I have to admit with the changes the last couple of years the penalties are up and difficult to know. All the best and thanks for this site. I was beginning to believe I would never understand the positions, or understand why a particular defense was chosen by the line of the opposing offense. All the best, Sean
Very well explained! Loved the explanation of dime and nickel! Not even had a clue how to understand those defensiv types but you made it perfectly!!!! greetings from germany
CONJECTURE: In a pass heavy league, could it be plausible to run a dime (or nickel) base scheme where you primarily have DBs on the field. The one time I’ve seen this work was in the wildcard game between the Chargers and Ravens. But I’ve never seen anyone actually implement it into a functioning scheme.
I have been watching your videos for awhile now and I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing clarity to football for me. You really know how to take a beginner’s mindset and make things really thorough. You’re a great teacher!!!
Defensive ends are the two defensive linemen who are on the outside of the line. If there are three linemen (3-4 defense) the guy in the middle is the Nose Guard or Nose Tackle. If there are four linemen (4-3 defense) the two guys in the middle are Defensive Tackles.
A lot of these formations are based on player personnel. Like if you have a strong LB corps, you’re more likely to play the 4-3 defense, a LB specifically assigned to rush the QB but can also drop into coverage. Now if you have average LB’s, the 3-4 is your bread and butter since you can rush 4 defensive lineman every play. Have 1 LB assigned to the QB in case he leaves the pocket, and the other 2 LB’s can either drop into coverage or be run stoppers.
HISHAM931 it’s the other way around 4-3 means there is 4 down lineman the 3 is the linebackers in 3-4 you have 3 down lineman and 4 backers if you have a strong LB core you would usually run a 3-4 and vice verse if you have good D-line men then you would run 4-3
generally speaking, the 3-4 is a very good defense to run if you don't have a great lineman core. For instance, if you only have one defensive tackle that is apt at getting through blocks and clogging up the middle, why should you waste the extra defensive slot on another tackle who cannot make such a difference? Even if your fourth linebacker is not great, the extra zone coverage, or even a Will blitz, is a lot better than a lineman who is only eating up blocks. However, if you have a considerably weak linebacker core, or simply two very strong d-linemen, the 4-3 is very suitable for you. Having a fourth man to rush the offensive backfield is a great pleasure, however you will need to be smart with your coverages.
I am just now going into my freshman year and I have only played football my 6th grade year. I really want a position on the team but I would like to be defense either LineBacker which I was when I played or Safety. I am around 5'8 I am in between 120-140 and I do have muscle what should I do to prepare for summer weights before they start Tuesday?
hmm I jumped right into it and worked as hard as I could. Never skipping out on reps in the weight room. I gained 35 pounds of muscle during the off season and worked with learning routes and different positions. I ended up starting receiver for a 5A undefeated football team in Guthrie, Oklahoma. I cut out pop and junk food but kept to my normal eating routine. Work work worked. MTXE
The video was very helpful, thank you! One thing I hear a lot in commentary on the defense is the "blitz", as in that a team went for a blitz or is preparing for one. Is that another defensive formation or just a tactic that works with any formation?
Good question. A blitz is a tactic that could be done with any formation. It means that more guys than normal are rushing the quarterback. So typically in a 4-3, the four linemen would rush at the quarterback, in a blitz there would be at least five guys rushing him. It could be a linebacker, or even a defensive back. Some teams blitz a lot, others don't, it's mainly about surprising the offense.
@@TheOnDeckCircle thank you for your answer! I'm embarrassed for asking now, I found out you already had explained that a couple videos down on the playlist
4-3 could be called a 3-1 defense usually. Nose at a 1 and a tackle at a 3 with two DE. The 3-4 is usually called a 50 defense. This is when the nose is a 0 and the Ends or tackles are 5s
I love how he refers to the team players as men, I’m over hear learning everything I can because I was offered to practice and learn football with the WNFC...yah so maybe change it to people instead
Now I can destroy my dad in madden
Rashad Lingham truth
Rashad Lingham go with a 3-3 nickel defense.

Did you win

Anybody else here to learn stuff for madden lmao?

Wow. Now I feel better.

+Sean Mooney The names can be different, usually depending on how they are lined up on the field. There is a lot of jargon, for sure.

prevent defense is the worst defense in football

Hey there
Thanks for these videos! You don't get much of a chance to learn the basics of football here in Germany from coaches. Great channel
anyone else have to watch this for school...no just me....ok
46 defense would’ve been cool to go over also… why it’s not used as much

DemonWake I bet your coach will have some kind of weights program for you to follow, it'll likely depend on your position. Probably best to ask him!
Okay thanks!
What did you end up doing my man?
