With all due respect, Mazal is a hebrew word Mazel is Yiddish. Mazal means luck. The jewelers make a deal, they say Mazal as may this deal bring a good luck.
Exactly what I was going to say - typical Roman pretending who knows what he doesn't. Mazal u Brocha - Fortune & Blessings Shortened to Mazal. Hebrew, no Yiddish (Mazel is Yiddish) What else are they making up as they go along?
A lot of watch channels TRY to make this topic interesting and you guys did a great job! I do wish Roman discussed his thoughts on a flipper vs a “grey dealer”.
I had never hardly heard Roman or Anthony or the 'crew' saying Mazal much until Buckley and his guys started with the video, now it's all over their videos
Have you guys done a video talking about watch condition. I was sold a watch that was NIB, never worn, pristine condition. When I received the watch it was so scratched and scuffed up, it was clearly a department store floor model that had been abused for a long time. I was pissed. The seller offered a return but still claimed it was pristine. I declined as I have the ability to polish/clean it but when I bought it, I was not emotionally prepared to have to do that...
It's meant "deal" in the diamond industry for decades. Many sources of this info online. Kinda like when we say "good luck" or "safe travels" when saying goodbye to someone. But it doesn't matter; Roman is being historically accurate about the use of "mazal."
A few corrections for Roman: Mazal comes from the Hebrew language, not Yiddish. Many Yiddish words come from Hebrew or German. So it has nothing to do with Ashkenazi vs Sephardi. Some, like my father-in-law, will not say “Mazal” because it’s origin is astrological, and saying “Mazal Tov” means you believe the “stars” can give you good luck. Like others have said, it is used today to say congratulations. My hypothesis is that it became used in the diamond industry because when deals were made, there where a lot of things that had to happen next for the cash to come through, like finding another buyer. So the one selling it was giving “Mazal (Tov)”, good luck, for the buyer to come up with the money. On another note, in a past episode you sowed a Hublot that used Hebrew letters, and used the letter for “20” instead of “11” and the number “30” for “12”. Definitely not your problem, but Hublot should had employed someone who knows “gematria” (assigning numeric values to Hebrew letters) and not just someone who knows Hebrew.
@@bartnewland yup. 47th street diamond trade was a swap and mazal. In other words you owe me and good luck in your transaction. May you make money and buy lots more from me. Mazal
Great content idea! Your shows are entertaining to watch (even though I’m not a watch fanatic), they are (talking about the vlogs now) really really well made, props to your staff and most certainly to your social media and video team (excuse me for not knowing the right keywords, 40 something male speaking here 😄). Keep them coming and much succes to all of you guys
At 5:05 Roman discusses the tests that Luxury Bazaar does on a watch. I have been asking for this for a long time. How does Luxury Bazaar authenticate the watches it receives? Does LB authenticate every watch? I remember one video in Q4 2022 when Peter the intern found a fake Rolex and had to educate Adrian Taskin who did not know it was fake until Peter showed him. I would like Roman to show us how LB authenticates and tests watches at Luxury Bazaar.
Mazal Tov = means Good Luck, BUT used to say CONGRATULATIONS! Eg. Avi the Producer (and team)... lately producing A+ content, Avi gets well deserved promotion... Mazal Tov Avi.
FSOT could be someone who has a watch that has a lower retail but is selling/trading higher and is looking to trade up in another watch..i always thought NOS was an older model that has been sitting in a store not selling and newer models are out
I never post sold orders! This tells the other dealers in the chat that you need to fill the order and automatically the prices they quote go up. I always say need to quote or want to buy.
Way off Roman. The movie was Gone in 60 Seconds and his Unicorn was a 1967 Mustang. Not Speed. He was part of a Car Boosting Ring and the Code Name for the Car was "Eleanor."
Just one question: Why do watch dealers dress so badly? Normally they buy the ultra low quality clothes, with the hype branding on. I think this shows the state of the market, if these people are the stewards of the future values of things?
Very interesting podcast today. I didn't realize the terminology with watch dealing was that varied. Most people listening to watch dealers would be totally lost not knowing what was being said. Nicely done! ☺
Not a race but a tribe of people, and a religion that the tribe practices Judaism. I’m catholic my wife is Jewish therefore my daughter is Jewish automatically regardless if I was to baptize her she’s automatically Jewish through her mother’s bloodline . The local rabbi made this quite clear to me when he wondered past my house, then onto my front porch, then into the living room the first day we moved into our house. There was no argument from me. History and traditions are what keep us from repeating our mistakes, and understanding where we come from with a sense of unity and a collective responsibility…

Translation of word "mazal" means luck. Mazal tov means good luck....not sure why Roman thinks it means Deal.
It’s means deal when he uses it

In this context it means deal.

Love the podcast and show LB should hire me
rarely post comments, but i liked it
only podcast listening too
Amazing to hear that!
Dear Roman.. love everything you do but.. MAZAL in Hebrew (and Yiddish) simply means "luck" :)
Have you ever seen a Patek Grandmaster Chime 8?
Way off Roman. The movie was Gone in 60 Seconds and his Unicorn was a 1967 Mustang. Not Speed. He was part of a Car Boosting Ring and the Code Name for the Car was "Eleanor."
Great movie!
Carol Shelby fastback mustang I believe.
Mazal means luck. Like in good faith or closing a deal in good faith.
I wear a cccp or seamaster as my daily beater.

"Four words of English . . . one is Mazal." Um . . . no. It's not English! 😿
Just one question: Why do watch dealers dress so badly? Normally they buy the ultra low quality clothes, with the hype branding on. I think this shows the state of the market, if these people are the stewards of the future values of things?
1. Mazal is not derived from Yiddish.
2. Mazal means luck.
"Bump" = Bring Up My Post.

Saw a Batman at Ben Bridge today...
Underwhelming IMO
Roman is OTT
mazal actually also means luck in hebrew
btw roman
u jewish?
kk
MAZAL
Further, being Jewish is not a race; it is a religion. Roman may want to step up on his understanding of Judaism.
