I'm soo glad they made it safe. During my internship, I got injured by a cannula needle while assisting a colleague in an emergency setting. She accidentally dropped the needle on my foot, and in the chaos, I didn't realize I was hurt. I just focused on keeping her calm and finishing the procedure. However, the busy environment made it challenging to report the incident or check the patient for viral markers. Still haunted by nightmares. 😢😓😣

You should not tap the vein after swabbing the area, rather it should be tapping the vein before swabbing the area.

Very informative video and good technique. However, I have 2 points to note
1) Cannulation isn't really a sterile procedure (you don't necessarily need sterile gloves). Moreover, sterile gloves are way too expensive. An aseptic technique is just enough.
However, hospital policies varies and you may not be wrong.
2) After disinfecting the puncture site, you can not touch it anymore. You maybe be putting on sterile gloves, but remember you have touched the tourniquet and it is not sterile anymore.

Tab the vein to dilate and then clean the area.. once cleaned dont touch the puncher site again .. Sterility!!!!
