I couldn’t agree more. It’s getting to the point that streaming services are easing their prices every other day. Then they wonder why people go sail the high seas.
It's crazy how everyone complained that cable was too expensive but now these different streaming services are just as expensive!!! Especially when you need more then one service to watch everything you want & enjoy 🤦🏿🤷🏿
Netflix was built on the SAME failing cable-model all cable companies used. Netflix was able to avoid such cost explosions because they generally only held movies they paid RIGHTS for. Now, with Netflix adding MORE original programming AND sports...their costs of rights fees INCREASED, of course they need to pass those costs onto their customers. Cable Head-ends resisted "tiered sports" for the longest time as did providers of content, because ensuring EVERY cable subscriber paid for that service through BASIC cable made the "share cost per customer" cheaper. Netflix is following the same model and eventually will dinosaur themselves like the older cable companies did. Netflix feels the need to compete with Disney+ & Peacock and to a lesser extent, Max because they all now offer movies, shows, sports, news and events. Netflix was better off staying as a movie-only service but with more studios having their own services now, Netflix doesn't want to be shut-out of bidding. This will kill Netflix in about 5 years if not sooner.
Cable companies forcing me to pay for sports channels I didn't want nor watch was a big reason for me becoming a streamer. Netflix will lose me too if they force me to pay for sports.
All of these streaming services that keep raising their prices because they keep adding sports content need to offer a lower cost sports free tier. We left cable tv because sports content kept driving the cost up. We do not watch sports and are tired of having to pay for sports content.
Well no that's not how companies think. They think, all these people want to subscribe, we must be hot shit! Maybe we're not pricing our hot shit high enough? In reality, Netflix is just shit but if 300M people think otherwise, they are sending a strong message to Netflix that makes them want to raise prices. Now if they lost 19M subscribers, then Netflix might think hard about whether they should stop the price hikes or maybe even drop the price.
@@PEIAdWordsI'm on that train! I'm done. I quit Hulu and will quit Netflix at the end of the month. I'm done paying more for less, and I don't care about the sports they will cast. Id love to see the large corps suffer when viewership falls.

As a person who doesn't watch sports, i feel cheated that the Netflix will go up for something that doesnt benifit me! I guess another thing to think about canceling....
Do like I plan to do. Cancel it for part of the year. Get it for a few months when there are number of things you watch queued up, then cancel it for a few months, until there is more stuff you want to watch. It's their own fault they will effectively be getting far less money from me over the course of a year, but I'll still end up watching the things I want to watch. I don't usually see most new shows as soon as they are available anyway.
I did that years ago. Netflix is only worth one month per year, along with Amazon, Disney and Paramount. Hulu, Apple and Max get two. They're all pretty poor at producing quality content. Nice of them, really. Otherwise the price hikes might bother me.
I have cut my Netflix subscription for the first time in the 10 years that I've been a subscriber. Screw this - if they want to play games with my wallet, then I'm going to play games with paying for them. I'll just resubscribe for a month here and there, to catch up on what I want to watch. Bring it.
So sick of Netflix, just turned it back on and considered staying subscribed. But no way. Netflix is horrible with ads and outrageously priced without. What we need is a 1080p 1 screen NO ADS, Netflix Originals ONLY plan. No sports, no live, no silly games, no outside movies or TV shows that can often be found elsewhere. Lots of Netflix content can even be found on multiple legal free options.
If I didn't get Netflix through T-Mobile as a benefit I wouldn't have the service. I just don't see the value of paying for what they offer. Also as a sports fan, wrestling and that so called fight are not sports and I would never pay to watch that BS.
The last time I subscribed to Netflix I remember one of their statements on the screen about, paraphrasing, not having as many ads as one might think. The first movie I watched had (11) ad breaks. Most were only 15 secs to 30 secs but (11) lol. I cancelled the next day but I still enjoyed Netflix's content the rest of the month.
I don't mind paying for what I watch, but the outrageous amounts that Cable TV companies pay for sports is why I fired them and cut the cord 6yrs ago. I don't ever watch Sports on TV, but yet Cable chose to charge me for their Sports and even charged me a separate Sports Fee. Any Streamer that raises prices for that same issue won't have me for a Customer.
Netflix has become the least cost effective. First, don't care about sports, so now I'll be subsidizing content I never asked for. They have lots of content, but most of it is lackluster at best. 20025 will most likely be the year I end my subscription.
Netflix most likely gets cancelled in my house. It is absolutely not worth $25/month. If there's a show that I'm watching, I may go with an ad-supported plan.
Sports should be a add-on like others here have said. If you don't watch sports you shouldn't have to pay for it. Also, word is that Allen Media Group is reconsidering the layoffs.
Huge mistake, I don't care about crappy WWE! They should have a tier or at least pay extra for a additional subscription for those who REALLY want it! I guess it's time to move on, tired of paying for what I don't watch and don't need!

Weird, thing about wwe and Netflix. In Canada don't get commercials during the show but in America does. We actually don't get to see every thing live.
I’ve been a continuous Netflix customer since the beginning… like when I read a magazine article about a new service that would mail people DVDs and then you mail them back with no late fees (that beginning). I’ve always kept Netflix, even when everybody would get all upset and light their hair on fire about each subsequent price hike or password sharing crackdowns (which I honestly can say I never did) even though, I also, was of course upset about the increases. But I never thought I would cancel Netflix. I always thought it would be the last one I’d hang on to-maybe because of nostalgia, or convenience, whatever. All the others, I have had or have or had canceled or rejoined or whatever over the years, but I’ve never thought about touching that Netflix auto renewal (so I guess that’s 20+ years now, month after month). But if they think I’m about to start paying cable prices for garbage I have neither the need nor desire to watch-internet role model Jake Paul fighting real life role model Mike Tyson-or that I’m gonna be cool with them using my jacked up Netflix fees for our current president to funnel money to his education secretary’s wrestling promotion? Well then, Netflix I’ve got two words for you: bye Felicia! Amazon got my dear John letter for my Prime subscription THE DAY my last Christmas present arrived, and it looks like Netflix might not make it to Groundhog Day. I am going to save SO MUCH money this year, and probably have much healthier and happier free time as well!
The last time Netflix raised the prices I cancelled for 2 months, subscribe again at the lower tier and cancel again after I watch and catch up on shows I like. They are making very little money from me. They make it easy when they dump a whole series season on the channel all at once instead of weekly like other streamers. I see this changing sooner or later.
I'm not a sports watcher. I've had Netflix forever, but the price hikes aren't aligned with the value I'm getting. They don't even offer an annual plan. I think it's time to drop and maybe pick it up occasionally to catch specific shows.
Bet the reason sports is a better driver for subscriptions than tv shows or movies even if they are a hit, is because you can't easily sail the seven seas for live sports coverage, but one could for pre-recorded media, not to mention the broader appeal of sports.
What's really infuriating is that Netflix "content-locks" some programming to its ad-free tier. With the recent price hike, the ad-free tier is more than double the base (ad-supported) tier.
I don't believe this is correct. It's the ad-tier that has content locks. I ran into that and bumped up my subscription. I have the ad-free plan and have seen no content locked. It's also the hardest hit price hike of the three tiers. I believe THAT is because they actually make more revenue from the ad-tier plan and they're hoping the ad-free tier subscribers drop down to the ad-tier plan. As far as I can tell, the content locked in the ad-tier seems to be for series programs, such as Vikings, etc. Network series that isn't netflix original content seems to be the stuff that gets blocked. Not sure about movies but I doubt it's movies. I may drop down to the ad plan but I seriously, seriously HATE ads when watching a movie. For me, watching a movie is a theater-like experience so no ads is a desire.
Sports on TV - If its such a big deal I wonder why media companies are dropping less-watched sports and just focusing on the biggies (football, basketball, baseball) and driving the price of those biggies even higher and higher. You'd think the lesser sport would be good to fill in empty time slots (or even a streaming channel) at a bargain price. Chris Brown suing WBD - Its not what you said (WBD defending itself), its Chris Brown will have to prove his accusations. Verizons 'Visible" phone plans and shopping for deals - Most of those discount plans have limitations with data or service areas, so look at those and choose what you need very carefully.
My breaking point for any streaming service is $30, if they go about that I am out but for now Netflix stays for me, I don't need 4K so there is quite some way to go before we hit $30
Netflix has just become too expensive to have. Don’t even watch wrestling. 🤷♀️ Looking into antenna for local stations, and just going back to the basics.
I used to really love watching baseball. That's when it was on network TV. I paid for my viewing by watching the commercials. Now they want us all to pay through the nose.
I'm up in the air when it comes to wireless internet or 5g as in reliability. Cases such as losing signal due to weather issues and such and providing the same bandwidth like cable internet . Or is there a difference? If i was sure there wouldnt be major issues Id sign on with wireless and only would have to pay half of what I am now with cable internet.
Maybe IMDb's new head will consider bringing back the discussion boards. They were the only reason to stay on the website after looking up a movie or an actor's list of credits.
Dumped Netflix almost a decade ago when they signed an ex president 😳 and then proceeded to dump cable a couple of years later. Internet and Roku replaced everything for the most part. I miss a few things here and there but don’t really care anymore. It’s all ridiculous as it is. Don’t need 500 channels, never did, never will. NBA players making 50 million a year, MLB players making 700 million. Just ridiculous.
Maybe Netflix should have 2 versions of the ad tier, and the other 2 tiers. The ones they have now, and a cheaper one without the sports. Not everyone likes sports and should have to pay for it.
I have no interest in Sports as does about 1/3 of all viewers. I canceled Netflix yesterday. I did not get so well off by paying for services I do not enjoy.
Netflix is adding sports and raising their price because of that, I am done with them. We don't need sports on Netflix. There are enough sports channels out there to watch sports.
I don't watch sports. Why can't they set it as a separate add on if you want it? I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't watch sports. Why should I have to have a pay increase for things I don't watch.
@@stargazer0728 the answer is that if the true cost of sports content was only paid for by people who watch sports, and not also subsidized by people who do not watch sports, the price would be so high that the people who watch sports would probably drop it.
I was hoping Netflix would give me a reason to drop them. This is good news for me. I'm assuming I'll get a notification regarding the price increase. I'll gladly cancel immediately.
Its probably because they went to YTTV, Direct TV and other streaming services with sports add ons. They didnt have any other reason to justify and raise up the cost again. They dont care, they just wanted to raise up their prices. If not, they could of just add it as an add on. But no, they wanted have an excuse to increase the price once again in less then 2 years.
Commercials are for getting something to eat or drink, bathroom breaks, surfing the web and using the mute button. Very few people pay attention to or listen to them anymore.
@wildbill4496 It's not about whether they are in the room. It's about needing to watch the football game live so the commercials will be running live. Also, the networks will work in an ad during a 30-second timeout or an injury timeout and keep the game going in a P-I-P box.
@@josa720 Advertisers only know they ads played, but they have no idea if people actually pay attention to them. I assume that's what you're referring to. I don't really know anyone who regularly pays attention to most commercials, unless it's a movie ad they haven't seen, for example. You didn't really refute anything I said. I don't think ads on TV are anywhere near as effective as they were even 10-15 years ago. That's why Netflix is raising their price, because they can't charge enough for ads compared to the coast of carrying sports.
@ Yes, I'm not refuting anything you said. While watching the Eagles-Wash game the commercials were for calling for a refill. But they still played on a dozen monitors at the restaurant. I don't think I recall any of them.
I don't care about any sports stuff that streaming services carry. I think what I'm probably going to do is cancel Netflix part of the time, like maybe cancel for a few months then sign up when I am actually going to watch some shows or movies, then cancel again. They will end up getting less money out of me than they do now. Netflix doesn't need to raise prices, with the increased revenue from more subscribers. It's corporate greed period.
I know it would never happen because people are to driven by want, but imagine if millions of Netflix subscribers just cancelled their subscriptions to send Netflix a message ? Even if they only cancelled for 1 month it might get Netflix to reconsider. After all, they made more profit in 2024 than ever before, so the price increase isnt out of necessity. Its out of greed. And I agree with others. Make sports al a carte for those who want to pay for it anf not force it on everyone.
Great ... so we **pay for something we did NOT ask for** ... and **sports on streaming absolutely sucks because NO DVR SUPPORT** ... studies show that almost half of viewers of professional sports events do so via recording delay, so they can cull out commercials (exactly what and why I do it that way). Grrrrrrr .....
People that don't want to watch sports shouldn't have to pay for something we don't want. We should be able to have different levels for solely sports and regular sports. Not fair to make people that don't even watch it have to pay for the stuff. This is why I got rid of my high priced hulu for a lower cost fee. If other streaming services do, Netflix should have levels to choose from. This may bring in viewers. But will lead to losing them to I believe.
Since Venu was canceled, they will just bring sports to all the streaming services so prepare for future price hikes. Streaming will just be cable tv at the end of the day. You won’t be saving much in he long run with streaming especially with the price of internet.
With cable people who didn’t watch sports had to help cover the cost. Streaming is now doing the same thing. Sports will be the reason Amazon prime, Peacock and paramount plus will also increase their price because of sports. I will try to keep what I pay for to a minimum. I want prime and paramount plus. I don’t need Netflix
I don't care about sports so I don't watch them. I don't want to be forced to pay for them either. Got rid of satellite for that very reason. I cancelled Netflix years ago so this is no incentive to resubscribe.
I have absolutely NO interest in sports or that fake WWE crap. I'm dumping cable because I'm tired of paying a monthly exorbitant fee for sports and broadcast tv. Will be getting an antenna for OTA broadcast networks plus the cable company is so greedy they charge a 2.50/month rental fee for the remote control as of about 2 years ago. How greedy and absurd is it to charge an ongoing fee for a $12 remote control? It's why so many people are cutting the cord. If Netflix isn't careful customers will dump them too. They should have a separate sports tier for those who want that kind of content millions of people don't care about or watch sports or wrestling.
If by "everybody" you actually mean streaming services, then yes they want to carry sports - Amazon Prime, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+ ... they all now have sports that you cannot watch in other places.
The sports should be optional for the viewer,if you don't wanted don't paid for it. I don't like sports at all so why the viewer have to paid if you don't liked.🤷♀️🙄

For me, watching a movie is a theater-like experience so no ads is a desire.
another great video
Netflix doesn't produce enough content to justify more price hikes & keeps cancelling good shows.
They need to make a separate level for sports. Not everyone watches sports.
"Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates life for me!" 😎
Not yet but thinking about it.
I "cut the cord" on sports in general a few years ago. Multiple reasons/benefits for that.
I’m not everybody and I don’t want sports on tv.
I absolute hate televised sport and will not pay for it. I would like to see a few options for non-sports people.
I do not value sports. In fact, I find scrolling past sports an annoyance. To pay more for sports? Unacceptable.
$25 is my threshold for premium Netflix. Above that and I’m dropping it.
I get Netflix free through my T-Mobile combo phone and 5G and I’m supposed to be price locked. So I wonder if they may just drop it or not.
Maybe IMDb's new head will consider bringing back the discussion boards. They were the only reason to stay on the website after looking up a movie or an actor's list of credits.
Sports needs to be its own tier add-on. I cancelled Netflix long long ago, so it doesn't affect me.
I so badly want to cancel Netflix every time they raise prices, but my wife insists on keeping it ☹️
Try one month on and one month off type thing. That way you only pay for 6 months of the year.
Damn now I have to pay $25 for Netflix😢
Every year you get the little raised from the work and then everything goes up!
I do not want sports. Bad move.
You will continue to pay.
Dumped them a few years ago when prices started going up.
Get rid of sports on the channel. 😊
Visible is awesome. Had the $25 an dnow the $45 plan. Hotspot is great. Will switch to the annual plan sometime this year.
I have no interest in Sports as does about 1/3 of all viewers. I canceled Netflix yesterday. I did not get so well off by paying for services I do not enjoy.
I can explain to Netflix what they can do with their sports channels.
Will they have a plan without sports
Netflix is adding sports and raising their price because of that, I am done with them. We don't need sports on Netflix. There are enough sports channels out there to watch sports.
I don't watch sports. Why can't they set it as a separate add on if you want it? I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't watch sports. Why should I have to have a pay increase for things I don't watch.
@@stargazer0728 the answer is that if the true cost of sports content was only paid for by people who watch sports, and not also subsidized by people who do not watch sports, the price would be so high that the people who watch sports would probably drop it.
People thought that cutting the cord would be cheaper but like i said before over time streaming will cost as much as cable or satellite
Even ota TV getting expensive and tbh I'm just about done with ota as well
I was hoping Netflix would give me a reason to drop them. This is good news for me. I'm assuming I'll get a notification regarding the price increase. I'll gladly cancel immediately.
I think I might I'm going to keep my Netflix because I still want an anime I like on their 80s movies as well
Its probably because they went to YTTV, Direct TV and other streaming services with sports add ons. They didnt have any other reason to justify and raise up the cost again. They dont care, they just wanted to raise up their prices. If not, they could of just add it as an add on. But no, they wanted have an excuse to increase the price once again in less then 2 years.
great
Glad my cell phone carrier cut me a discount
Netflix need to add better movies and tv shows especially classic tv
Sports is one of the last programs in which folks will still sit through commercials.
I DON’T watch sports on Netflix.
I have to cut Netflix to afford UA-cam's price increase.
😂😂😂
Canceling Netflix two weeks ago canceled sling Apple is next I'll just watch old stuff for free
Streaming services is gonna price themselves out of business.
Amazon better get going putting up those satellites they are far from even hinting that it can offer it in the near future
I Don't have NF.
Netflix lost me last year. And I won't be returning anytime soon...
Since Venu was canceled, they will just bring sports to all the streaming services so prepare for future price hikes. Streaming will just be cable tv at the end of the day. You won’t be saving much in he long run with streaming especially with the price of internet.
Streaming services are basically cable to some people. They have canceled cable to pay cable.
I hate paying for sports. That's why I don't have cable. Guess I pirate everything fully now
I will be evaluating how we use Netflix. I may cancel if usage doesn’t justify the extra cost.
Cancelled Netflix. Not worth a penny more, especially because it is seldomly watched.
I have ZERO interest in underwriting the viewing habits of sportsball obsessives.
I don't care about sports so I don't watch them. I don't want to be forced to pay for them either. Got rid of satellite for that very reason. I cancelled Netflix years ago so this is no incentive to resubscribe.
Now people will go back to cable
I’m already on ads!
We will unsubscribe from netflix. We seldom watch it, and we don’t need no stinking sports.
Don't watch sports or want it, I gladdly drop it off streaming, cable and ota, because of the sports fee
Nobody's perfect..lol
I called BS on your everybody wants to carry sports. Did they not learn from the failure of the regional sport networks?
If by "everybody" you actually mean streaming services, then yes they want to carry sports - Amazon Prime, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+ ... they all now have sports that you cannot watch in other places.
I am not sure that I want to pay for Netflix
The sports should be optional for the viewer,if you don't wanted don't paid for it. I don't like sports at all so why the viewer have to paid if you don't liked.🤷♀️🙄
