Here's why a Singapore 3 Door Enviro 500 is in the UK (SG❤️BUS)

- Maxson Goh Films K509, the 3 Door Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 at an exhibition in the UK. The bus is a prototype / demonstrator for Singapore, and was used for tests that lead to 50 units being shipped to Singapore. This one, 0/50 will be staying in the UK.

You are lucky to sit in its driver cab. And really nice SG vibes in there. If this was to hit SG roads it could haven been registered as SG4xxxx and as a Enviro 500 3 door demo unit. Nice vid!

ADL really committed a lot of resource to just getting 50 buses right, even though they know there won't be an option or further diesel order from LTA. They had to be thinking much further down the road with Singapore's future market to spend this kind of money.
They are open to building more units for another operator, but are mainly targeting the eastern market.
@@glitchFan2428 I don't see which market would be willing to take 3-door diesel DD design other than Singapore. The only route open to ADL right now is a hybrid or full electric version.
@@sgbuses hmm the only markets I can think of are HK and NZ. Then again double deckers are supposedly quite rare in NZ?
@@glitchFan2428 They run on main, express routes in Auckland. They are also rather long distance, so there isn't a need for 3 doors. Due to strange weight regulations they have 3-axle SDs and have some custom build for that market.

Nice tour of one of those Singapore Enviro 500 buses. I think the Belfast Glider should have had these instead of the VanHool Exqui buses we've got. You get more seats and there is about the same standing room.
I've actually always wanted to try out the Belfast glider to be honest! I will at some point...
maybe a bi-articulated bus is needed instead of articulated, provides space for over 200 people in one bus
wow interesting i had always thought the showcase mockup was the demo and paved the way for the other 50 units. Im curious i know singapore buses have a lifespan of only 17 years, those 50 in sg are likely to be scrapped when their time comes, not sure abt this prototype. I bet it will be "preserved", if so it would be ironically consider this is the first "prototype bus" to be built and could be the only one left in the future lol😅 Edit: 4:46 the upper deck of that adl bus rlly reminds me of the sg yutong e12dd upper floor as well

Ur correct about the E500 E Door to be scrapped, not just because of its lifespan, its because its not electric, i wish LTA would make it electric instead of diesel, it looks so good
An additional E500 3D2S unit is not meant for shipping to SG, even though we already have 50 units in the roads.

Knew it would be the demonstrator. We haven't seen the Enviro500 3D2S demonstrator since the Our Bus Carnival in 2016, while the Man A95 3D2S Demonstrator is SG5999Z on Service 7
This is a completely different unit from the one in the Carnival, the specs for this unit is totally different. The mock-up bus from the carnival is still sitting at LTA HQ. This unit is a prototype unit for the finalised production batch.

I don't think LTA Singapore wants to order another 50 units Enviro500 3D2S Buses as a Batch 2 unit's because Singapore already stopped ordering diesel buses. If they ordered a Batch 2 Enviro500 3D2S in SG, it would become Enviro500 3D2S electric buses eventually...
I guess one can wish 😂 tho electric is probably the future anyway... Unless they can get hydrogen going hard enough...

Maybe you should see and visit the preserved SBST Leyland (SBS 9168S) in UK (idk if it still alive)

Maybe thats why it sounds like a Citaro because of the Mercedes Benz Engine..

Why this bus don't get to LTA's service to? Just changing some of features just as same as the production batch (or be a demo bus). Too sad for a bus that still standing there in the warehouse😢

I can't see this hitting UK roads other than for First Bus Group as they have Transbus E500's
A worthy replacement. Although they did say that it's targeted at the Asian market so I don't think it'll be on UK roads soon

I wish London had E500s instead of E400s. They have higher capacity and way better engine sounds.
That would be nice however I'm not sure if they will fit in the streets of London. Then again the bendy buses did so.. hmm..
