I struggle to even conceive how ANY boss theme can possibly top this. WE donned the wings of Hope, and flew ever higher. Over ten years we saw armies raised, blood spilled, friends lost. Our plans were foiled. We were bogged down in the mud, and the blood, and the haunting melody of an empty universe. The wings of Hope are not bright and shining. Their feathers are not white. They are twisted, broken, covered in badly-healed fractures and knots of ugly scar tissue. But they are strong. And there, at the end of everything, on the Final Day....they were OURS. I can't wait to see wither they bear us next.

honestly I wish they made ex3 in such a way that this moment could still be included, because like, of course the wandering minstrel would include something like this in the story, it's too over the top not to. like, imagine if during despair unforgotten, we got rid of the stack marker, and instead the tanks alternated between a flare, and a susano-esque thing where you have to physically hold back Oblivion attacks with an active time maneuver (as well as the normal clock position stuff). but then, when she casts theological fatalism, the two tanks realize that they both have either a flare or clock position, so there's no one to defend from Oblivion! so theological fatalism resolves, and then oblivion hits, everything fades to black, and the scion prayer bubble thing appears and this song starts playing.
I gotta be honest....I was kind of disappointed with EX3. A lot of mechanics that exist in normal I was looking forward to seeing enhanced or with more overlap just disappeared entirely. I also was thinking of EX3 from SHB and thinking we might see something like that, given what EW and this boss was meant to represent. EX1 is my favorite of the bunch. I felt really let down by EX3.
@@Ceronia Yeah, that sort of thing is cool once; but these are meant to be done 100 times. It gets pretty tedious after a few farms. The Weapon series made that pretty clear. The moment exists in the story version of the fight, and it's amazing there. No need to water it down by reliving it over and over and over...
This gives me chills everytime. Biggest reason why I love ff14 now. I played WoW for 10 years, and the only time I ever got chills even remotely close to this was the nighthold heroic guldan when khadgar is just yelling that we WILL defeat him. Even then, not very close to how I felt in this moment of endwalker.
As a WoW player since TBC I would absolutely HATE any of Soken’s music in WoW - it simply doesn’t belong in a fantasy world with virtually little to no sci-fi or steampunk elements. But in XIV, oh heck yeah. Dude is ridiculously talented.
@@EatTheMarxists While I agree that Soken's music wouldn't fit in WoW, saying there's no steampunk or sci-fi in WoW is blatantly untrue. You even reference TBC as when you started which is literally an xpac that takes place on another planet. TBC was super sci-fi. Legion was even more sci-fi to the point where you literally take a spaceship to another planet. Steampunk? Goblins and Gnomes say hello. Like I said, I agree with your statement about the music and WoW not being a match, but to say there's little to no sci-fi or steampunk in WoW is false.
@@EatTheMarxists Bruh. While you're absolutely right that Soken's music wouldn't fit into WoW - Warcraft is pretty much science fantasy at this point ala Warhammer 40k. The Legion expansion was literally all about the Burning Legion saying "fuck this shit we're done playing games" and sending their fucking spaceships lol.

I see a lot of people whining about the fight being a disappointment but the community brought this upon themselves because of how much they cry the game was getting too hard and then turn around and say the game has no flaws at all. Yeah just look at a mirror before you post a comment on UA-cam next time
I think it's because of WHEN in the fight the Extreme starts from. Hades is the whole fight, beginning to end, with a special final phase, whilst Endsinger Extreme starts from the second phase. They basically removed the first phase, added the mechanics to the second phase, and threw in some extra mechanics, likely to make farming the fight less obnoxious, given past precedent (main story fight that've done the 'phases' thing have been unpopular on certain occasions).
I think that's due to feedback. A lot of people I've talked to who did Hades EX when it was the new EX hated it and even now still refuse to touch it (A lot of my FC mates have the mount, but they refuse to help anyone else get it because they don't want to do it again even though we're running it unsynced at lvl 90)
@@MissLilianae Yeah. People lament it as a "Oh, it's just another trial", but they'll be a lot happier when they're not dealing with 3 phase fights next expansion.
@@nebula8851 Yeah, I just recently got into high-end content by doing Endsinger EX and afer seeing Hades EX I feel Endsinger hit a perfect stride of "challenging for vets, not too much for newcomers".
