I still remember buying the Tamashi 3PO at a discount price at Hobby Link Japan. I think it was around US$160. The figure is a piece of art, period. So accurate and heavy being all diecast. As you said, you gotta have it in hand to appreciate the beauty this figure is.

I’ve had mine a few years now. I absolutely love this figure. With that being said I have to list my minor dislikes. Even though I like the weight, the joints are sometimes difficult at holding certain poses. Also some of the joints have some loose moments. Next, even thought the hydraulics at the arms are cool, they are bulky for the scale. As far as accuracy, his chest plate is dented but his head is not. After his fall when the Tusken Raider attacks, both dents were there. The eyes are a cooler color temperature than they should be. I saw a mod video where a guy added amber colored clear film inside and looked great. I went to the hobby store and they did not have that color. So I looked it up and found that yellow and orange make amber. So I purchased both colors, trimmed some pieces to fit and not it’s perfect.

This figure looks great! I have the Sideshow version as a stand in, with the hope someone will do an improved version someday! Ha ha! I’m shocked Hot Toys has not done so as they made the excellent Deluxe R2-D2. I feel the collectors would jump at a new Hot Toys C-3PO and they would be printing money with such a release.

I own both 3PO and R2 by Bandi. The best set the only thing I wished they would have done was my make R2 lid diecast instead of plastic. Other then that both fine pieces.

This is a grail. Congrats. Even if HT made a c-3p0 I don't think it could match this in all its die-cast glory. I have the tamashii R2 that is also built like a tank.

Oddly enough, I was considering pickup a C3PO and R2D2 for the collection..... now I might have to reconsider which version of C3PO.... you toy purchase enabler!

i haven't seen the original trilogy since the 90s the last time i saw the original c3po was a clip on youtube on the 80s sesame street that figure looks exactly the same they even managed to give him a silver leg like i remember some toy companies couldn't even bother to great figure

I can’t believe Hot Toys hasn’t done a version of 3PO yet. The Sideshow one is fine enough, but I would far prefer the Tamashi one or a more updated one.

Congratulations on the find. He looks awesome! And you can break him apart extremely awesome. I would definitely put him in a net and have Chewy carry him. Lol… come on Hot Toys give us a C3PO!!! How about a C3PO with Chewy two pack!!

C-3PO definitely isn't my favorite character. But he is one of my favorite figures to display. I have the Sideshow 1/6 scale of him and I love it. But I had always wondered why they didn't make him in a chrome/vac metal form. Seeing this and see what a true chrome/vac metal 3PO can look like is simply amazing. A shame I didn't know about this until now. A quick look on Ebay shows me that I probably won't be getting one any time soon haha. Great video. Thanks.

Such a beautiful figure. I had a chance to grab one and I didn't now I'm kicking myself in the keister cause he's so dang hard to get. Truly the best C3PO figure out there.

Congrats on the grail pickup. This figure is perfection. One thing to watch out for is the clamp since the tension isn’t strong enough to hold the figure once it starts to lean forward

A lot of Threepio figures don't get the face just right, and it throws the whole look off. One that's surprisingly good looking is the cheapy $10 TFA one from Hasbro. If not for the stupid red arm, it'd look ALMOST as good as the Sideshow one.

Going to go out on a limb here Justin. I'm getting the impression you're really stocked to have found this version of C3-PO. As you should be it's freaking awesome. Love that he is totally die-cast and comes apart. Great choices in ways you can display C3-PO. I'd call your find a Festivas Miracle.

Great review. I’ve had the chance to get him but he’s been way too expensive (£400 plus for the cheapest one I’ve come across and that was two years ago!).
I can also attest to be careful with the small parts and bits as I have Bandai’s 1/6 diecast Artoo (fantastic figure) and snapped one of his arm things! The one thing about the Bandai Artoo is that the head isn’t diecast but it that doesn’t bother me as it still looks great. It also has some fantastic sound effects too!
Ah damn! That’s the one thing that makes the hot toys one look so good!
@@JustinsCollection the plastic they used on it is decent though - I’ve posted some photos and vids of it in the Facebook group yesterday if you want to check it out. If hot toys do release an Artoo I’d be 50/50 on passing on it!

You should get the Tamashii Nation R2D2. Like you said these Japanese figures are accurate, hefty and clean, you'll immediately notice that the Hot Toys R2D2s can't compare to it.

Thanks again for the cool review Justin. What was the whole deal with no HT version again? That SS had exclusive rights or something? Although they haven't done one for years. It obviously can't be Daniels' likeness haha. And wasn't that droid caller (or just communicator?) black and white like a stormtrooper when 3po used it on the Death Star?

Incredible figure. The only thing I never understood about 3-PO (the character, himself) is why he left his mid-section so exposed with his vital wiring. You'd think at some point, just speaking practically, that he would have wanted a protective plate there as even a *fall* could potentially sever those connections. I mean, it LOOKS great and always has, but in practical terms, that just always nagged at me. lol
He didn't really have a choice, he's not the maker
@@JustinsCollection Oh, sure, of course, but he's capable of repairs on himself, as has been shown, so just always wondered why he never simply installed a plate to protect that very vulnerable area - or asked any of his owners for one. I know it's not something you're really supposed to think about, just well - always have. lol

Too bad we'll have to wait until next year to see how this compares to the 40th Anniversary ROTJ version Hot Toys announced this week. I'm still leaning towards this one as based on photos, the Anniversary version's wire portion is much too large. There's just something off about the proportions imo.

I'm still holding on to a diecast HT C3P0, or maybe InArt will consider releasing one. I would love to have the Bandai version but it truly is very difficult to find.
InArt won’t be doing Star Wars for a long time if ever. Hot Toys may do one some day

Used to own this , its by far the best one you can get , however the price on EBAY is extortion . Hopefully Bandai do a rerelease soon . The R2 is also perfect and superior to the hot toys.
