    Hello Crystal, Thank you for your beautiful message on peace. We are in such need of it in so many ways. Fall is my favorite season also. I love the colors and the crisp air and baking and the warm cozy feeling that it brings. I live in coastal Delaware and this is the time when the tourists leave and it's local time. We love walking on the beach looking for shells and sea glass and whatever God has placed there for us. The soups that I make are chicken noodle, beef barley and chili (i think it's a soup also) with biscuits and cornbread. I would love for you to share your fall baking recipes. I am always looking for new recipes for dinner and baking. Thank you so much for your beautiful thoughtful videos. I have been staying with my grandchildren and are behind in the videos. But I will catch up! Blessings, Jane

      Thank you Jane!! Your walks on the beach sound so lovely!! I love the beach. We're a couple hours away from the Pacific ocean and I always look forward to our trips there. Your soups sound delicious!! I've shared a couple soup recipes in my short videos.. so far!! I have more in the works and will be sharing more in my videos too. Enjoy your time with your grandchildren!! 😊💞💞

    Thank you Crystal for another great video! Today, it definitely feels like fall! It has been raining since last night and the temperatures dropped drastically! I am in Europe so last week we've still had heatwave temperatures but today it is so cold that I will be making Italian lentil soup for supper! Haven't done much baking lately because of the heat but two days ago I've tried out a recipe for zucchini chocolate muffins and Wow! They were great! I highly recommend them if you don't know what else to do with the zucchini's! Also, you made me smile when you said that you now try to enjoy each and every season because I just recently decided to do the same!😀

      Good morning Esther! Your soup sounds delicious!! Something about those temps dropping that make you want to warm up with a nice hot bowl of homemade soup 💞💞. I have made chocolate zucchini muffins and chocolate zucchini cake.. both are amazing. Nice and moist 😊. Have a wonderful week!!

    Autumn is my favorite, and always has been. I especially love stepping on the crunchy acorns and crisp leaves while I take my morning walks. The summer temps are too much for me, so I'm thankful for the relief in weather. The colors, smells, sounds, the air ... it's all different and wonderful.
    I baked pumpkin scones the other day and they were DELICIOUS. They froze well, too.
    Our final attempt to beat the grasshoppers (TERRIBLE this year) and actually grow zucchini is paying off, so zucchini bread is being made today.

    Good morning Crystal. I’ve had another busy week! Yesterday was spent with visiting family. One of our daughters and her family came to visit. I made a big pot of beef vegetable soup and cornbread muffins. It was delicious. I was able to spend time with 6 of my younger grandchildren. That was such a blessing! Even though loudness and excitement was all through my house, peace was definitely here!! Just appreciating all the blessings God has given me gives me the ultimate peace❤️.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Loving it Crystal - thank you. Romans 12:18 is one of my 'life' verses - as far as it depends on me I endeavour to live at peace with everyone ... only possible of course with the Prince of Peace to guide us 😊. I have been baking for my grandson's 5th birthday afternoon teaparty - chocolate cake, ginger loaf, fruit scones, flapjacks, sausage rolls, etc. We love soup here in Scotland too - lentil, sweet potato, tomato, minestrone, carrot and coriander, mushroom and thyme, brocolli and tarragon - in fact anything that I can lay hands on - I like to freeze leftover veggies for soups. We also have a local smoked fish, leek and potato soup called Cullen Skink which is amazing! Talking of temperatures we had frost on the roofs this morning, -2.5° c overnight 🥶. Winters coming ..... but with each season comes that season's special blessings as you say. God bless dear friend. Xx

I've never heard of Cullen Skink.. sounds delicious! Your first frost already? Wow.. I'm pretty sure we're still a little way from that.. but who knows, autumn has come early here! Have a wonderful blessed weekend my friend 😊

    I'm afraid about the only soup my husband has any interest in is chili. I for one love a good hot and sour soup, but being the only one interested in it, almost never make it. And my kids don't generally like soups, so soups just don't happen much in our house. I might blame the Arizona heat for that, but who knows? :)
    This week we have a Canadian family member staying with us so the house has been getting spiffed up. Our last house was much better for visitors but we will likely be doing a bit of running around the state to show off the sights, so it will probably be just fine. Besides, the kids are excited to see them AND to have a week off of school work (Fall Break? haha). The visit will probably mute some of the "churn" of the news cycle, which will be nice. But I will probably will only really relax once the visit is over and we are back to our usual routine. ;)
    Have a great week!

    My favorite soup is Stuffed pepper soup and I place in portions and place in freezer. I also make cabbage roll soup as well. My friends husband came up with a chicken soup that is very tasty with black beans rice and quinoa. I enjoy that as well. I can eat soup every day in fall and winter and spring but in 80 degree temps or higher just not appetizing. I don't use a/c.

    Another truly inspiring video for today Crystal! Your wisdom on peace was truly uplifting and I so appreciate your sharing it with us. Peace is something that we need to cultivate daily within ourselves, our homes, and those around us. It can be challenging at times, but the Lord always promises to walk with us. With His help, we cannot fail. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year! I love the fall temperatures, the smells and scents, and always fall cooking! Anything I can make with apples and pumpkin are always fun! I even make pumpkin chili!!!! Enjoy your day my friend, and have a very blessed weekend.

    I have 3 teenagers in HS and a 4 year old. To say peace can be hard to come by is an understatement, lol. But we came up with something this school year that has been great. When i pick them up from school we all air our grievances for the day in the car on the way home. Sometimes, that means we sit in the driveway an extra 20 min, but once we cross that threshold, it's over. We dont bring it in our house. I realized that as a family we are tremendously peaceful when we keep the "world" outside our door. The kids get along better and evenings are smoother. Its not a perfect method but giving everyone a moment to vent everything out and then leave it behind has been great for having a more peaceful home.

    Hi Crystal. In one of your short phone videos, you mentioned not using pre-shredded cheese because of that natamycin. What kind of mozzarella cheese do you use? Does it shred easily like cheddar does?

    • @HomemakingontheHomestead
      @HomemakingontheHomestead  15 днів тому

      I buy the blocks of mozzarella where I buy the cheddar. And yes it shreds easily like cheddar does. At Costco I've also bought the fresh mozzarella which is really good.. it does not shred but I slice it and use it on pizza.

    • @HomemakingontheHomestead
      @HomemakingontheHomestead  15 днів тому

      I have never heard of canning cookie dough. The dough would be cooked during the canning process. So that is why I'm not understanding this. I have frozen lots of cookie dough over the years (using my favorite recipes). You can even scoop out the individual cookies on a cookie tray and flash freeze them. After frozen you can put them in a ziplock bag and pull out as many as you want to bake up for easily having fresh cookies. But canning does not seem to me to be something that would work at all. Cookie dough has many ingredients that aren't recommend for canning (butter, flour, etc..).
