This elephant cave made by Badami Chalukya's. I visited Badami and Elephant cave Both, Both are beautiful but Badami Caves are more superior.

@@SolotravellerJeet Well, there are many many "Buddha caves" in Maharashtra and in India. But the Elephanta (Gharapuri) caves are dedicated to Shiva and other Hindu deities. The most famous sculpture features the Trimurti--Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the three most important Hindu deities.

It has whole history which overtime was modified into Hinduism... Example Shivling in the centre has a different stone texture than whole caves.. In Buddhism Otiv stup is placed in centre for meditation practice which is converted into shivling
