That Red 2000 SE - Gets me every time. I so miss mine. She gave me 18 years and over 400-thousand fun-filled miles. I hope the 2010 I drive now will live up to my expectations.
I own a 2000 xTerra, with around 350k miles on it, and it still runs perfectly. My parents originally bought it brand new in 2000. 16 years later in 2016, I bought it from my parents because they were buying a newer 2014 xTerra, and I've always wanted to own a xTerra of my own since I was three or four years old. 6 years later, in 2022, that same xTerra that my parents once owned has been to 45 out of the 48 states in the Contiguous United States. And I plan on taking it to all 48.
A smile comes on when I recall driving off the lot with our 2000 Xterra, over 250K miles and still going. Best darn SUV we ever purchased. Hated to see them go as I was hoping to see a newer generation come from Nissan just to blow the competition in a frenzy. Now everything out there is going to stay the same for awhile. A la Jeep and Forerunner, where's the FJ?
I drove over 300 miles from New Jersey to Virginia to buy a 2000 to 3.3 non supercharged five speed stick from the original owner. Not a speck of rust near mint condition. It only had 105,000 miles on it when I bought it back in November and I put 4000 miles on it so far. I put a new timing belt and water pump in it when I got it. I just did my first oil change the other day mobil1 full synthetic. I’ve owned other Nissans in the past Maximas and Pathfinders. By far the Xterra is the Best of the Nissans
Most of the SUVs that came out with Xterras to compete with our in the junkyard or they are getting crush. most Xterras you can see them in the road still
Hurricane Floyd that is interesting. My 2001 Xterra still has the original headlights and I've restored them several times from burning with the sun. Bad quality glass, I guess.
Just bought a 2000 with 119k miles on it. Drives like a dream, both on road and off-road. On-road, feels luxurious and comfortable driving, not "trucky." Off-road, feels like it can handle anything. Very happy with my purchase.
One of the best trucks ever made. Just love the fact they used the VG33 in this car. It's not very fast, but that engine is one of the best Nissan ever made
The last "old-school" 4x4 SUV ever made. Every other manufacturer had started putting electronics in the drivetrain by the 2000's. Nissan held out the longest.
2001 here this week a 46 years old guy ask me where he can buy this truck at the dealership he was certain this is a 2018/19 model ,, i remoove all nissan logo ;)
Last picture shows what well could be my red SE 4wd. Mine still looks like it. Am retired Nissan master tech and making an Overlanding rig for playing in the Ouchitas. 167k and garage kept. Love the vid
I had a 2004 manual xterra very impressive SUV...after that one we got a 2005 manual at the same time then sold the 2004 our 2005 is very nice as long as you try your best to main. and stick with it.
When I was 13 years old for choosing one for Nissan Xterra XE V6 5-speed 2WD and Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SE V6 White brought two vehicles on June 14th 2000 Some late 5:30pm long time ago
Looking at a 2000 in beautiful condition, they want $5500 for it but I was like HUH ?! lol. If I can get it for $3000 I will do it. Need a second vehicle to haul some mountainbikes.
смотришь смотришь а по факту машина стала хуже..... задние сидения просто жуть......обшивки страшные....посадка передних страшная... одно слово раньше было лучше...передаю вам привет из своего WD21
Can confirm what Jeremy said. I have an '01 2WD SE. Over the years I've done a resonator mod, gave it a 1.5" "poor man's lift," put bigger shoes on it, a NISMO catback exhaust, a cold air intake, Doug Thorley headers, and it did okay, a little better than stock. Last year I had an engine problem that turned out to just be the fuel pump, but worried about a timing belt slip during the deal, I pulled the heads to check the valves. After I pulled the motor, I decided screw it and dropped high performance cams, a Centerforce I clutch, had to have the entire exhaust redone as years in the midwest rusted the old one to the point I had to cut it out, but it's a true dual (w/ glasspacks & high flow heads). After getting it back together a good deal on most of the parts off a supercharged one dropped into my lap, and I had more problems with a blown wheel and brake bracket. So a little more time and money and last fall I finally had a SC swap, to include the ECU (keep in mind this can only be brought over to manuals, and it's going to CEL because it can't find the auto trans). After all that and a ton of money? It drives like they should have always driven in stock form. I can pass at highway speeds in 5th, or really get my hammer on in 4th. I mean, it's still an SUV, but it's got a new attitude. After the money I dropped into it, I hope the bottom end takes another 10 years. If I squeeze another 10 years out of it, I'll happily scrap it. Then again the motor pack may just need a rebuild and I can find something else to stuff it in.
@@goldenhide I'm on a few different Xterra Facebook pages and there is quite often talk about SC conversions. Not once have I heard you have to swap the manual trans in as well. They can stock with SC and auto trans. There shouldn't be any issue tossing a supercharger on and throwing in the ECM.
@@kittenswithketchup Strange all the various forums and groups I'm in typically recommend it. I never did say you had to swap it, the advice given was to have the destination vehicle be a manual. LOL!!!
Wiseguy. The 2000-2001 Xterra had GLASS headlights that did not discolor.

Absolutely hate the fact that Nissan discontinued this car. I’ve always wanted one
I thought you loved your red truck, Hank
You can still get them used cheaply.
This model finished in 2004 and the first model started in 2000.
Dude, stock 1st Gens are mad cheap. Go get you one!
My heavily modded 2001 is probably only worth 2-3k and I've seen lower mileage ones for less.

I love my 2000 Xterra! Only complaint is the A/C doesnt blow alot of air out the vents. Still cold tho
@tacomahnster model year 2000 Xterras literally dont have a cabin air filter
Actually they do

Great video! The Xterra is one of my favorite SUV's from the 2000's decade! I just picked up a Blue 2000 Xterra last night...in 1:64 scale.
1998-99, not solely 2000s
Is it matchbox? 😁
Great job building mine 300k and still runs great!
Sure would love to have one.
The olden days. Ill miss it.
This is why the Nissan Xterra is well respected
I really enjoyed this 👍🏻, thank you !!!!
This is awesome. Almost 20 years ago!

the only thing I can bitch about with the SUV is the #6 spark plug.... and the knock sensor, what the shit engineers
People didn't like them because how they look most people don't know they we're one of the most best ever made SUVs
Second to the 4runner
I have s 2000. It has a bad ass rugged military look to it. Def NOT a car based suv. The gas mileage proves it

Am I allowed to say the 4Runner is way overpriced? Probably not. At any rate, I like the Xterra, I bought two! One automatic, one manual!

How do I get some power out of the weak 3.3 ?
I think adding a supercharge kit is the best option.
Just live with it lol. You really can't do much to make then more powerful without spending more money than the car is worth.
