Thanks! I didn't even realize that's what I'd done, but you're right. I guess having worked on two SH2 songs previously, that influence crept into this.
Just found this cover whilst in the hospital visiting my Nan. She’s not doing well right now...and I’m afraid I won’t get to see her again. She wasn’t looking good when I saw her, and I’m worried she won’t make it through this night, let alone this weekend. I know I’ll see her again some day...just...well. Something tells me that’s _Not Tomorrow._ Personal woes aside, this is a lovely cover of an already classic theme.
@@MarkLambertMusic Thank you. I hope she can too, even if it’s very unlikely... Update: I’m writing this the day after the initial post. Got called by my dad at about 5:20pm (UK time). Nan’s gone.
Thanks heaps, Lostjoy! It's great to hear you say that, because I always want to keep the "soul" of the song I'm covering intact, even when I go off the rails a bit.
Nothing wrong with a few tears . . . lol. It's a moving song. Akira Yamaoka's original composition that is, not so much my cover. Though I went through great pains with all my Silent Hill covers to keep the same vibe as the originals so they will hopefully elicit the same emotions.
I'm pretty confident these are the best silent hill covers i've listened to, and i've listened to a lot, it delivers an excellent arrange while respecting the original vibe and feel. Great job!
Thanks for the super kind words, Cepencio! Keeping the original vibe is the main thing I go for in all these covers. I'll never do a "metal" Silent Hill cover, that's for sure. Well, unless it was metal to start with, and the only one that's somewhat close to that is "Angel's Thanatos".
You know It's interesting how almost everyone uses this same frame in lisa covers or videos or mentions.. I am just trying to say this frame is used a lot And what I find more interesting, the graphics quality still holds and hits. For those who didnt play, this stare would seem that she hates the viewer but for those who played this stare is the catch of her despair. Her realization that.. she might actually be all alone all this time
This scene in the game is one of the all time greats. It invokes both sadness and horror equally in a way I've never experienced in any other game or movie.
Poor Lisa. She was such a naïve, innocent being - Kaufmann got what he deserved for what he put her through at the very end. 😞 If only there was an alternative ending where she could be saved...
Hi! I've been listening to this nonstop. I'm actually amazed how you're not famous, the technical play without flaw, the quality of the sounds and the composition are just superb, absolute quality. It even reminds me of led zeppeling. I was wondering if you had tabs or maybe you composed this on guitar pro, so I could also enjoy playing the guitar part of this masterpiece. I would appreciate it a lot!
Thanks for the super kind words, danigmod11csxd! I don't think fame is in the cards because Silent Hill covers are super niche-and besides, I suck at promoting my channel. I mostly rely on UA-cam's algorithm for discovery instead of going around aggressively promoting it myself. I appreciate the thought, though. Creating tabs of some of my covers is something I've long intended to do. It's mostly a matter of making time for it. This song is currently my most popular SH cover, so I'll see about writing some tabs for it once I finish up rerecording of "Theme of Laura", which is almost done.
Sure. If you can somehow give credit back to this channel that'd be great, but it's fine either way. After all, this is just my interpretation of Akira Yamaoka's work.
Thanks! I don't remember for sure after five years, but I believe I recorded my Strat directly into the DAW (Presonus's Studio One) and used Scuffham's S-Gear as the virtual amp, with a Plexi-ish medium crunch tone and a bit of reverb/delay. I mic'd the acoustic with either a Shure SM57 or a lower budget condenser mic I had at the time; I don't recall the brand. The warbley sound you hear back in the mix was an electric piano with a rotating speaker effect. I believe I accomplished that via Omnisphere.
Thanks! I'm trying to remember . . . I believe it was an electric-piano patch of some sort in Omnisphere, along with a clean electric guitar with a rotary speaker effect and large hall IR reverb. Unfortunately, I don't work from any sort of template and start from scratch with every new recording, so it's hard for me to recall exactly what I did on any given song. Especially with these Silent Hill covers where I add a lot of atmospheric effects to them (and Silent Hill songs need that atmosphere).
В оригинале нет, только мелодия. Но есть фанатские каверы с сочинённым ими текстом, например от _Scarily Olivia:_ ua-cam.com/video/dzoHfEpcY1o/v-deo.html
This cover it's sooo good! I play the drum and i play drum covers. This song it's on my list too and i was looking for the right version. Can i play a drum cover with your version of the song? I upload my videos on my instagram page. However, nothing it's commercial, just having fun playing the drum. I don't make money and i won't get credit for that. I'll obviously gonna mention you. Do i have your permission to use this?
It is a viola if I remember correctly. I always prefer a viola to a violin if the part is within the viola's range. It provides a warmer and richer tone.
@@ashgonza92 I love a cello. It is my favorite classical stringed instrument and I always use it where I can. But there is a point when you get into any stringed instrument's upper register that it loses its body's resonance. If a melodic part falls in the middle of an instruments range, then that instrument usually sounds best with it.
A more depressing, somber version of the original. Then when the guitar and drums kick in it becomes a SH2 iteration of the song. Perfect.
Thanks! I didn't even realize that's what I'd done, but you're right. I guess having worked on two SH2 songs previously, that influence crept into this.
now i'm imagining lisa in silent hill 2
I only played this game when it came out in 1998. I can still hear Lisa crying though this music

What a great cover, it sounds different than the actual song, but it still keeps the main melody, which is what I think covers should all be about.

@@MarkLambertMusic I'd say thanks to you for these awesome covers!! Keep 'em coming!!!
This version feels like Silent Hill 2
When I recorded this I had just finished doing a couple of covers songs from Silent Hill 2, so I was still in that vibe I guess.
Well that was kinda beautiful.
It sure is, and all credit to Akira Yamaoka for that.

Who thinks if silent hill got an original Hulu or Netflix story, this would be the credits song, with its own credits sequence?
It does tend to be my favorite song from the series, my mood depending. It gives me the most feels anyway.
