    I actually remeber watching this tournament and I'll have to admit that mcnamara went absolutely bananas during this tournament he was just scoring at will he just had one of those moments where he just could not miss.

    One of the most absurd stretch of games I've ever seen. Dude was like Superman every night in that tournament. I guess that's just how we make em in Scranton

    Being from the Scranton area and having watched him play through high school and then at Syracuse, I can't say enough things about him. This video pretty much says them all for me instead.

    Gerry McNamara will always be one of my favorite players shooters of all time. I get it he didn’t make it to the nba all that but just from me my heart he will always be one of my favorites. I have watched this highlight for so many years I even showed my younger cousins my niece when I worked with them on basketball showed them this highlight video. My dad and I followed this tournament my sophomore year in high school my dad is the biggest Syracuse Orangeman fan I’ve ever known. I became a Cuse fan because of my dad. We was yelling going crazy watching this crazy Big East Tournament run by Gerry McNamara and Cuse. Always have a special place in my heart watching these games with my dad seeing him go crazy for his team.

    Awesome video, been waiting a while for a 2006 big east tourney highlight video. This is real solid, shows how amazing gmac was throughout the 4 game run; he is hands down my favorite cuse player of all-time

    Whoa, you own a suite at the stadium? COOL! When the Phillies left, that was it for me. The comment below about the cleaners makes sense if you read it slowly ; ). I was a pretty good ball player so maybe it's me just going through it vicariously for Gerry. It's never over until it's over. I feel that the 76's or a New York team would be a good idea. It may even help attendance and like you said as others have, he is an extremely likeable person. He does leave his heart on the floor ALWAYS!

    This was the single greatest string of indiviual performances EVER in ANY sport.
    I remember watching these games, and it send a chill down my spine and brings a tear to my eye every time I see McNamara's buzzer beaters. Syracuse might have won this tournament, but it seemed like G-Mac was the only one on the floor.

    Yea I remember watching the 2006 big east tournament, and Gerry Mcnamara had an outstanding performance to lead syracuse to a Big east title. After performing that great, it was a little surprising that he didn't impress professional scouts enough to get drafted that year.

    If injuries didn't slow him down, McNamara would've been a top 10 pick in that year's (2006) NBA draft for sure. That would've been awesome. The Knicks (just saying) could've used a pure, play-making, sharpshooter of his caliber.

    I'm from Scranton and he's no 5'11". He is a min.6'2", can dunk the ball from a standing position and gives more heart and guts than 95% of pro athletes. If you ever read his NBA scouting report before he played at Syracuse it was excellent. Unfortunately, he was hampered by injuries, most notably a groin injury and if you know anything about that, it really slows down your game. Yes he was let go by NBA teams, mostly at the last cut. He never got a chance though to show his stuff in theNBA

    It's a shame. No one can tell me G-Mac doesn't belong in the NBA. They complain about his height and speed, each actually not a problem. I saw him chase down a point guard who is now in the NBA and knock the ball out of his hands. Can dunk flatfooted. Tremendous Vertical. 90% of games in the NBA he would have contributed. Many records broken by him in Syr.

  • @lazerlazer
    @lazerlazer 15 років тому

    You don't live in Scranton? I see by your ID that you are a Gmac fan. Did you go to Syracuse or his High School? I think they closed down his High School or they Merged. I'm originallyy from Kingston right across the bridge from Wilkes-Barre and my family moved out here when my kids were young. I never really followed Gerry even though he was in the paper a lot in High School. I started following him during the NCAA tournament and I have been hooked ever since. I can't get enough of him !!!

    Hmm. I live in Scranton and I take my clothes to the cleaners where Gmac's sister's mother-in-law works as well as owns the business. I hear a lot from her as he is part of her family or darn close to it. It's weird and I have told her this, but I feel so bad for him I can't even describe it. I really, really think he deserves more than what he has gotten. I know this doesn't matter but to dedicate your life and be so good in college against so many good players. Super frustrating!

    @lazerlazer 13 років тому

    Sort of have to disagree with you on a couple of points. First, he's a pretty good defensive player and he anticipates well. Notice the steal for a three in the Cinc. game. The Texas semis in 2003 had him stealing two balls as well as other good plays. Certainly a very good athlete but not the best. Most important. He is a winner, a go to guy with high proficiency. I feel sad for Gerry to be honest.
