Former Rainbow owner here. When you test the Rainbow, you also need to remove the thumb screw at the bottom and pull off the plastic filter and look inside for rust. Because the motor sits over water, if an owner isn’t meticulous about maintenance and doesn’t break it down whenever they turn off the unit, the water will evaporate up into the motor and rust it. Those who buy directly from the company will be well educated about this maintenance, but secondhand owners may not know. If you can describe in your listing the procedure you used to check for that, you can command more money for it.
We have a rainbow vacuum. It was my husband’s mom’s. It’s over 20 years old and runs great still! I’ve broken so many vacuums in my life so it amazes me how high quality rainbows are. Worth every penny
about the golf club, no money in those clubs but if you come across Ping, Taylor Made, Titleist, Callaway, Cleveland (wedges), Cameron putters are the ones you look for
hi Brandon. I really enjoy your videos. I've learned a lot and I enjoy your style and personality. Such fun to watch. I've watched some other thrifter videos but they aren't as good as yours. Please keep 'em coming.
I have found some great vacuums in the past in Colorado. Sold a rainbow once. Had it cleaned and serviced first! The goodwill prices in California are HIGH. No good deals here. The new donations are sorted in the parking lot in my rich city. The good stuff is trucked straight to the shop goodwill online warehouse. Never sees the retail store.
I've still never been to the bins... Courtney and I kept saying we were going to go together butnaincould never make short notice attempts ;). MUST get there soon...maybe I'll see you there as well as the post office...lol. I've been saying I'm going for at least 1.5 years though. I just have a huge money pile of items to list already though... but still am dying to go for the experience...especially when u post such great finds ;). Be well!
Hello on my hubbys account- man I can remember when a rep came to our house to show the rainbow vac- when my moms eyes lit up I knew dad was in trouble. Lol , also if your interested hairy tornado picks up golf clubs often(one video was a truck bed of them) if your wanting to check out any of his videos. If I haven’t already said it have a very merry Christmas and happy new year
I always learn something new watching your videos! I probably would have passed on the vacuum as it would be a shipping nightmare for me, but you go you! 🎉
Its great that you find this stuff. I can't see how you can do it. I went to a Goodwill Bin. Was there for an hour and there was plenty of clothing but nothing that stood out. No Names. Hard good wise, The only things left was what the junk man left behind. And this was when the doors opened, No new bins while I was there Merry Christmas
That's terrible if they didn't rotate bins while you were there. I have many trips where I can't seem to find anything over $20 but I try to make due with what I do grab. Trips to the bins might not always be the massive hauls we want them to be but keep trying and your luck will change.
I always loved emptying that dirty water I have to use a Shark presently and it’s a mess pulling the dirt out by hand! Also love the Raymond episode with the Hum Vac.
Love the vids! The Disney Vault line is their line that looks like vintage/throwbacks as they celebrated the 50th Anniversary at Walt Disney World. They'll be clothes that are either in the park or just in the park. But was typically pricier than regular disney park clothes (outside of spirit jerseys). Good find!
Great video as always! You can unscrew the round component on the bottom of the rainbow and put it in the dishwasher top rack to clean it or use a tooth brush on it and it ensures it works properly. It also allows you to clean under it which keeps the motor running well. Never store the top motor section attached to the water basin if there is any left over water in the basin, it can cause moisture to get into the motor.
Thanks for posting! Magic erasers work really well on shoe bottoms. It’s an easy process and works well They are fantastic in general but be careful on certain things. Harmonic guitars will lose their coating
Happy holidays Brendon! What a fantastic year it has been for the One Man Show!!!! Incredibly happy for you. Hope you and the girls have a very prosperous new year ❤️
Thanks Beth. I'm aware. There's an annoying hum inside that location that prevents me from recording the sound of the motor the way I want to for my viewers. Storytelling flow notwithstanding.
I found a complete rainbow vacuum with a lot of attachments and even the attachment for shampooing. It was at a yard sale and it had been in their shed for a long time. I thought, no problem, I will clean it up. Took it home and it was just way too much, I mean I took one swipe inside a hose with a cleaning cloth and very thick goo just coming out and it stunk. The problem was I got honey dooked when I looked up comps and thought even if the vacuum wasnt in good condition, the parts would make me money. Nope, they were all in really bad condition. That was on me for getting too greedy and not taking the time to look it all over.
Out in the shed could definitely be a problem especially if the weather conditions seep in. Bummer too since you had some value on your hands under more favorable circumstances.
* Hope you can find a mount for your camera so you can use both hands for sorting.. Just a comment ~ your "Rainbow" looked like the Cord had been cut & someone repaired it . . And, the bottom seemed to be Missing.. Nothing for the clamps to clamp onto..
Disney 50 means it was made for part of the 50th anniversary celebration. So, it's less than 2 years old. Hope that helps, not sure someone else commented on that.
I went to the bins in Houston twice and didn't find anything nicer than "icky". After about 30 minutes, I had to leave. I need clothes on hangers. I can flip through a hanging rack 20 feet long in less than 5 minutes; an entire store in buying mode in less than an hour.
Ok I love to goodwill shop. Your channel just popped up on my UA-cam and I started watching. I continued to watch because you mentioned an Ohio State sweatshirt in another video and figured you might be from Ohio. Found out that your are from Ohio and from my neck of the woods central Ohio. I have never been to the goodwill bins yet but interesting to see what they look like here.
Hey buddy I live in Pataskala and frequently go to that bin store and I have made a good living on the side from there . I hope to run into you there and thank you for the tips and tricks of the reselling trade merry Christmas to you and your girls .
They come out great in most cases. I sometimes wipe the midsoles cleaner right after they come out of the wash but that does the trick for me 99.9% of the time.

@@DadPlanet Okay I was just curious because I saw you last Friday but didn’t say anything, it was my first ever trip to the bins and I was just a bit uncomfortable with how chaotic it seemed.
You know I'm messing with you but next time you are there do not be afraid to introduce yourself. I'm more than happy to help you overcome any discomfort while you're there. It's a good group of people and many of us help each other out and that's a big reason why I keep returning. What can seem chaotic in the beginning becomes pretty easy to navigate with some practice and familiar faces. I'll help you.
Do you just put the shoes in the washer alone? Whenever I put shoes in the washer, they float to the top and just bounce around at the top and don't clean up well. Thanks!

Wow on the Rainbow!
Great score on the Rainbow!
I never knew that the rainbow vacuums were so powerful and well made. I like how you explain things to new reseller’s. Thanks.
LOL stay in the clothes when I am there! You find all the BOLOs! Totally kidding!

Same in my location. You can’t even get close to the shoes…. I would’ve spent my time at these shoe bins just pouring over them in complete peace
Never heard of rainbow vacs. In the northeast we has Electrolux and the south we had Kirby vacs

Cord was taped but will have no affect on the sales price - clamps are fully functional including the wire connectors. We're good to go.
Have you read this article online?
The art of Goodwill: Usually the good stuff doesn’t make it to the sales floor
Haven't read it. They simply will never have the resources to scalp every item with value. As much as they think they might.
