I do not know if someone already told you, 3 english songs came out in the pandemic. So Dynamite, Butter and Permission to dance are comfort, happy songs. Of course this songs are high quality like everything they do.
The two rappers at the end was Suga and RM (leader of BTS). I think you will love their solo works so I'll recommend RM Wildflower and Agust D Daechwita (Suga's alter ego name). That summer vibe in these songs is definitely not indicative of all their music. Believe us when we say they do many, MANY genres. Their three English songs were released as singles during the pandemic to lift people's spirits and were designed to be pure fun. Permission To Dance is the third English song. In group or solo work they do Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Rock, Pop, Pop-Rock, Citipop, Lofi, Latin Pop, EDM, Ballads, and more. Most of their work is a fusion of genres. And yes, they are all incredible dancers. The rappers are Suga (Agust D on his solo work) the main producer in the group, RM, the group leader and main lyricist, and at the end in the yellow vest, j-hope, the dance leader and my personal bias. He has a documentary on street dancing around the world coming out next month, and an accompanying new album. For a short live medley of pieces of songs that walk through all of their eras from 2013 to 2021, try Festa Room Live. It will give you a sample of various genres and their vocal capabilities and is live. For three songs done live (Dynamite and two Korean songs) try their NPR Tiny Desk performance. If lyrics matter to you, always look for English Subs, as not all the videos of live performances or earlier MVs have them and their lyricism is world famous. The channel Enjoy BTS More is a great source for live performances with good English Subs. There are also channels which do videos breaking down both their lyricism and visual storytelling, as much is lost in translation or lacks cultural context and this group's storytelling is DEEP. Some songs are deeper and more complex and really benefit from this kind of breakdown to help you understand and enjoy the art better. Some good channels for breakdowns are DKDKTV, xCeleste, and Bookish Theories. Good channels for video essays if you want to explore more about BTS are: Asian Entertainment and Culture, boracity magazine, xCeleste, and bby gang mag. The best source for written translated lyrics with notes on context is the page Doolset Bangtan. The best introduction videos on BTS are Taylor Mari's Guide to the Bangtan 7 and xCeleste's This is BTS. Don't stick to just MVs. As you saw from this performance video, they are incredible dancers and MVs often cut up the choreography in favor of visual storytelling. Don't get me wrong, their MVs are also amazing art. But BTS are also almost always better live than in recordings. Yes, they sing and dance at the same time. They train hard to do that. They also have a LOT of songs with no MVs but are just as good or better than title tracks, so live performances and Lyric Videos can be good for experiencing those. Since 2013, they have released 20 albums as a group, 11 albums as soloists and many other singles, OSTs, covers, and collabs with other artists. It's hundreds and hundreds of songs. By last count with all collabs and remixes it was about 600. Plus they have their own variety show, reality series, travel shows, many live performances on TV and concerts, etc, interviews, short films, documentaries, books, webtoons, and more. As a group, there's only 3 songs that's fully in English. For solo work, Jimin's song like crazy has an English version and Jungkook's solo album is fully in English. One thing you need to understand about kpop is that they have a lot of contents. They have official mv, performance video, dance practice video, behind the scene for mv. Sometimes they have remix mv also. So kpop fans basically well fed. Even BTS is in the military now, they continue to release pre recorded contents in every few weeks. Just had a new song by V released yesterday. There will be new release from j-hope end of this month. They said themselves that they have a lot of contents in store 😅.
Just a little tip. If you want to explore Kpop as a whole you can search 'TOP 100 KPOP OF ALL TIME' or 'TOP 100 KPOP 2023' and so on. These videos will give you short samples of the songs and includes the name of the song and the artist. It's an easy way to find a group or groups that have a sound and style you are looking for. If you want to explore BTS just be aware that they are so far above the category called Kpop. If you want to check out the Rappers - I would recommend these songs and they all have MV's. I'd recommend to listen to more of their group stuff before diving into solo songs though. People are often eager to show off their favorite members (especially when reactors are into rap) but it's better to have a general idea of the group before going deeper! Or maybe check songs from the Rap Line and Vocal Line. I love watching new army fall into the deep dark hole you’ll never get out of. Suga. The Korean Eminem. Check out AgustD, his solo stuff. Daechwita, AgustD and D-Day are my favorites. Man can rap. His lyricism is insane. And he just has the f-u attitude. His concert was best I’ve ever seen. He’s my bias. Ultimate. Every artist ever.
Other groups are from "the k-pop industry" which is quite different. It's pretty shallow, in my opinion. BTS is like the indie/alternative that you mentioned and they appeared and had to fight hard to surpass the size and power of the industry. So they wrote most of their own songs, worked their butts off (12-16 hours a day), the ARMY started to grow (60 M people now) and they started to win award after award. I know you watched Mic Drop already, it's a message to the industry and others "haters gonna hate" and "do you see my bag, hella thick, so many trophies I can't hold 'em". Every now and then you'll see references to haters - the industry and others who tried to put them down. Other groups began to copy, but the foundation for all of this is BTS. If you want the perfect song, there are over 300 to choose from. There are videos of about 100, but then there are concert videos, I listed some sad songs in the comments under Fake Love, because you mentioned that. There are incredible award performances, solos, and plenty. But these guys are considered by even the other groups as the best. Yes, figuring out who's who is your next challenge, Haha, they all change their hair color constantly, so paying attention to voice and face could be easier. BTS doesn't feature a particular person, every one of them brings something different to the group forming the whole. They performed this one at Grammys 2022, it's great!
One of the rappers (and leader), RM, has an indie-inspired hip hop album called mono. It has an MV for the title track Forever Rain and cool lyric videos for the songs Seoul and Moonchild.
You will find most of their songs include rap and vocal. It's a given in a BTS song. The only exception is when a song is vocal line only or rap line only. The two at the end were Suga and RM. Both incredible. I was never a fan of rap until BTS. I actually went to Suga's solo concert in Chicago in 2023 and it was amazing. The other rapper is J-Hope but once in awhile he will sing vocals as well. If you lean towards rap check out the Cyphers 1-4 and UGH. This would be a good start. You probably have heard Jungkook's solo songs (Standing Next to You, Seven. 3D) on the radio. You should watch the Guide to BTS by Taylor. It's a great way to start learning more about the guys. Let me warn you. There are people out their pretending to be ARMY and will be mean and negative. Please ignore them. Even though this was not the official MV and I’d watch that on your own, Suga and RM were the ones you noticed as 2 of the 3 rappers in the rap line. The guy with the yellow hair near the end is the 3rd rapper. RM and Suga were underground rappers before becoming trainees for BTS. Since you said you wanted to react to the 3 English first, the next one will be Permission to Dance. All I will say to give you information about that MV, is they wanted to make it more of a flash mob dance so anyone could do it esp near the end of the pandemic. They also incorporated sign language into the chorus moves. They did this song many times too including at the United Nations, so look for the official MV. Usually it will be under Big Hit Entertainment or what is now called Hybe where Big Hit is 1 of many agencies under the company called Hybe. The great thing about finding BTS on UA-cam is that almost every song you will find multiple performances. This track alone has 3 or 4 remixes (Butter - hotter remix, cooler remix, a remix with a Meghan thee stallion verse, just the original music video as this one you are reacting to here is a special dance performance, etc). Mic Drop has a dance practice one that’s nice (they have some different choreo in these as they are practicing for their concert stage performance as opposed to just the music video.) Some of their songs only have concert or rehearsal footage because they never made a music video…like Jump and another is Baepsae (dance rehearsal is hilarious on that one. Suga lost a bet which will make sense when you watch it).😁

All members can sing and dance, though their skill and versatility in those areas vary. Most of the singers can also rap, though Jungkook is the most skilled at rapping. The official Dance Line is j-hope, Jimin, Jungkook and V. The official Vocal Line is Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The official Rap Line is RM, Suga and j-hope. They do some songs with just the rap line, or just the vocal line, as well as some subunit songs with various combinations of members, and solo songs on BTS albums. For more insight into their genre range, i recommend BTS Festa 2021, UA-cam's Congratulations Class of 2020 (i was class of 2020 and it made me cry because they chose 2 of ARMY's favourite comfort songs to perform 🥹), and their Proof Live concert. I'm ARMY (BTS fan), but everyone in the comments will have you covered when it comes to recommendations for BTS so I think I'll give you some recs for other k-pop groups. ⋄ Mamamoo. They're a girl-group (although the oldest is now like 32 so) who have incredible vocals. When they started they had a jazzy sound (which I kind of miss tbh) but are now more pop. Currently they're doing more solo stuff I believe, but for group songs I suggest HIP, Aya, Mr Ambiguous (their first MV), Starry Night, Piano Man. The group consists of four women; Solar (the leader and oldest, singer), Moonbyul (the main rapper), Whee-in (main dancer, singer), and Hwasa (the youngest, singer and sub-rapper). They're all goofballs as well, which is fun. I also recommend Hwasa's solo album María (Maria is her baptismal name). ⋄ Dreamcatcher. Another girl-group but with a metal rock sound. I don't know them as well, but they sound amazing and their sound in general is not typical in k-pop, it's more j-rock tbh. There are seven members, but the only ones I know the names of off the top of my head are the two rappers, Gahyeon and Dami (Dami is my favourite lol). Songs I'd suggest is Scream, BOCA, JAZZ BAR, SAHARA (which has a fun goofy MV they made themselves instead of a official one). ⋄ Stray Kids. A boy-group that I know even less about. Their songs are usually not my style, but they have a great energy and lots of talent. Maybe others can give good recs for songs as so far the only one I vibe personally with is Maniac. Even though they're not for me I can recognise talent and hard work so give them a shot! ⋄ AKMU. A brother-sister duo--Chan-hyuk and Su-hyun respectively--that I will admit I haven't listened to in years so I don't know their new stuff. Their sound is mostly poppy and ballads. The brother did his military service so he was gone a long while as well, but he's back now. Su-hyun has a beautiful voice and Chan-hyuk is both a good rapper and singer. Songs I like are Re-Bye, Dinosaur, 200%. They also have solo stuff I believe. Outside of k-pop? I feel like recommending Tracy Chapman. Not enough people listen to Tracy Chapman.
Second time watching you. If you truly want to go down the rabbit hole of BTS, you should definitely check out Tyler’s Guide which I will link below as well as some other videos in them. These videos will help explain more about who BTS is and why ARMY is so protective of them. The majority of their songs are written by them and they all have messages as well. ARMY enjoys watching reactions to these videos as well and we don’t mind long videos. Just make sure to pause when speaking to we can hear you clearly and you don’t miss anything. BTS is not your normal group either. The guys have been together starting since 2010 when they slowly started coming together. Another interesting thing is that they lived together close to 10 years something that no other group has done. Oh and they chose to live together too. It was not until 2020/2021 that they all officially had their own place. Also their age system had been different from the international age because they used to add 1-2 years to their age. For example Jungkook aka JK is the youngest and he joined when he was 13 years old. You will sometimes here him say he joined at 15 but it was actually 13. It was last year that South Korea decided to start using the international age which now puts them at the correct age for us. I do not know if someone already told you, 3 english songs came out in the pandemic. So Dynamite, Butter and Permission to dance are comfort, happy songs. Of course this songs are high quality like everything they do.
The two rappers at the end was Suga and RM (leader of BTS). I think you will love their solo works so I'll recommend RM Wildflower and Agust D Daechwita (Suga's alter ego name). The third rapper was J-Hope rap/sang at the end of butter and I'll recommend listening to Arson from him. He also has a song with J.Cole called On the Street if you wanna check that out ;)

That summer vibe in these songs is definitely not indicative of all their music. Believe us when we say they do many, MANY genres. Their three English songs were released as singles during the pandemic to lift people's spirits and were designed to be pure fun. Permission To Dance is the third English song.
In group or solo work they do Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Rock, Pop, Pop-Rock, Citipop, Lofi, Latin Pop, EDM, Ballads, and more. Most of their work is a fusion of genres. And yes, they are all incredible dancers. The rappers are Suga (Agust D on his solo work) the main producer in the group, RM, the group leader and main lyricist, and at the end in the yellow vest, j-hope, the dance leader and my personal bias. He has a documentary on street dancing around the world coming out next month, and an accompanying new album.

If lyrics matter to you, always look for English Subs, as not all the videos of live performances or earlier MVs have them and their lyricism is world famous. The channel Enjoy BTS More is a great source for live performances with good English Subs. There are also channels which do videos breaking down both their lyricism and visual storytelling, as much is lost in translation or lacks cultural context and this group's storytelling is DEEP. Some songs are deeper and more complex and really benefit from this kind of breakdown to help you understand and enjoy the art better. Some good channels for breakdowns are DKDKTV, xCeleste, and Bookish Theories.

Don't stick to just MVs. As you saw from this performance video, they are incredible dancers and MVs often cut up the choreography in favor of visual storytelling. Don't get me wrong, their MVs are also amazing art. But BTS are also almost always better live than in recordings. Yes, they sing and dance at the same time. They train hard to do that. They also have a LOT of songs with no MVs but are just as good or better than title tracks, so live performances and Lyric Videos can be good for experiencing those.
Since 2013, they have released 20 albums as a group, 11 albums as soloists and many other singles, OSTs, covers, and collabs with other artists. It's hundreds and hundreds of songs. By last count with all collabs and remixes it was about 600. Plus they have their own variety show, reality series, travel shows, many live performances on TV and concerts, etc, interviews, short films, documentaries, books, webtoons, and more.

As a group, there's only 3 songs that's fully in English. For solo work, Jimin's song like crazy has an English version and Jungkook's solo album is fully in English.
One thing you need to understand about kpop is that they have a lot of contents. They have official mv, performance video, dance practice video, behind the scene for mv. Sometimes they have remix mv also. So kpop fans basically well fed. Even BTS is in the military now, they continue to release pre recorded contents in every few weeks. Just had a new song by V released yesterday. There will be new release from j-hope end of this month. They said themselves that they have a lot of contents in store 😅.

Just a little tip. If you want to explore Kpop as a whole you can search 'TOP 100 KPOP OF ALL TIME' or 'TOP 100 KPOP 2023' and so on. These videos will give you short samples of the songs and includes the name of the song and the artist. It's an easy way to find a group or groups that have a sound and style you are looking for.
If you want to explore BTS just be aware that they are so far above the category called Kpop. If you want to check out the Rappers - I would recommend these songs and they all have MV's.

The English trilogy isn't necessarily the most representative of their discography but it's really fun and lighthearted. I'd recommend to listen to more of their group stuff before diving into solo songs though. People are often eager to show off their favorite members (especially when reactors are into rap) but it's better to have a general idea of the group before going deeper! Or maybe check songs from the Rap Line and Vocal Line. It would give you a better idea of each member's talent while staying into group territory for now

Other groups are from "the k-pop industry" which is quite different. It's pretty shallow, in my opinion. BTS is like the indie/alternative that you mentioned and they appeared and had to fight hard to surpass the size and power of the industry. So they wrote most of their own songs, worked their butts off (12-16 hours a day), the ARMY started to grow (60 M people now) and they started to win award after award. I know you watched Mic Drop already, it's a message to the industry and others "haters gonna hate" and "do you see my bag, hella thick, so many trophies I can't hold 'em". Every now and then you'll see references to haters - the industry and others who tried to put them down. Other groups began to copy, but the foundation for all of this is BTS. If you want the perfect song, there are over 300 to choose from. There are videos of about 100, but then there are concert videos, I listed some sad songs in the comments under Fake Love, because you mentioned that. There are incredible award performances, solos, and plenty. But these guys are considered by even the other groups as the best. Yes, figuring out who's who is your next challenge, Haha, they all change their hair color constantly, so paying attention to voice and face could be easier. BTS doesn't feature a particular person, every one of them brings something different to the group forming the whole. They performed this one at Grammys 2022, it's great!

You will find most of their songs include rap and vocal. It's a given in a BTS song. The only exception is when a song is vocal line only or rap line only. The two at the end were Suga and RM. Both incredible. I was never a fan of rap until BTS. I actually went to Suga's solo concert in Chicago in 2023 and it was amazing. The other rapper is J-Hope but once in awhile he will sing vocals as well. If you lean towards rap check out the Cyphers 1-4 and UGH. This would be a good start. You probably have heard Jungkook's solo songs (Standing Next to You, Seven. 3D) on the radio. You should watch the Guide to BTS by Taylor. It's a great way to start learning more about the guys.

Even though this was not the official MV and I’d watch that on your own, Suga and RM were the ones you noticed as 2 of the 3 rappers in the rap line. The guy with the yellow hair near the end is the 3rd rapper. RM and Suga were underground rappers before becoming trainees for BTS. Since you said you wanted to react to the 3 English first, the next one will be Permission to Dance. All I will say to give you information about that MV, is they wanted to make it more of a flash mob dance so anyone could do it esp near the end of the pandemic. They also incorporated sign language into the chorus moves. They did this song many times too including at the United Nations, so look for the official MV. The great thing about finding BTS on UA-cam is that almost every song you will find multiple performances. This track alone has 3 or 4 remixes (Butter - hotter remix, cooler remix, a remix with a Meghan thee stallion verse, just the original music video as this one you are reacting to here is a special dance performance, etc).
Mic Drop has a dance practice one that’s nice (they have some different choreo in these as they are practicing for their concert stage performance as opposed to just the music video.)
Some of their songs only have concert or rehearsal footage because they never made a music video…like Jump and another is Baepsae (dance rehearsal is hilarious on that one. Suga lost a bet which will make sense when you watch it).😁
Actually all of tracks on Jungkooks solo album, are all in English. He collab with Jack Harlow and Usher among others.

All members can sing and dance, though their skill and versatility in those areas vary. Most of the singers can also rap, though Jungkook is the most skilled at rapping. The official Dance Line is j-hope, Jimin, Jungkook and V. The official Vocal Line is Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The official Rap Line is RM, Suga and j-hope. They do some songs with just the rap line, or just the vocal line, as well as some subunit songs with various combinations of members, and solo songs on BTS albums. Multiple members also play musical instruments and use them in songwriting, and very occasionally may play them during performances. Most notably, Suga is a very accomplished pianist and also plays guitar. Other members can play guitar, drums, saxophone, trumpet, violin and piano. Their touring band is called Ghost Band. Both BTS and ARMY sometimes break members down into other lines just for fun, like the Hyung Line (big brothers) and the Maknae line (younger brothers) the Kim line (those with the surname Kim) and so on.

For more insight into their genre range, i recommend BTS Festa 2021, UA-cam's Congratulations Class of 2020 (i was class of 2020 and it made me cry because they chose 2 of ARMY's favourite comfort songs to perform 🥹), and their Proof Live concert. Just search BTS proof live and it should be the one where they are outside sitting on chairs with a blue sky.

I'm ARMY (BTS fan), but everyone in the comments will have you covered when it comes to recommendations for BTS so I think I'll give you some recs for other k-pop groups.
⋄ Mamamoo. They're a girl-group (although the oldest is now like 32 so) who have incredible vocals. When they started they had a jazzy sound (which I kind of miss tbh) but are now more pop. Currently they're doing more solo stuff I believe, but for group songs I suggest HIP, Aya, Mr Ambiguous (their first MV), Starry Night, Piano Man. The group consists of four women; Solar (the leader and oldest, singer), Moonbyul (the main rapper), Whee-in (main dancer, singer), and Hwasa (the youngest, singer and sub-rapper). They're all goofballs as well, which is fun. I also recommend Hwasa's solo album María (Maria is her baptismal name).
⋄ Dreamcatcher. Another girl-group but with a metal rock sound. I don't know them as well, but they sound amazing and their sound in general is not typical in k-pop, it's more j-rock tbh. There are seven members, but the only ones I know the names of off the top of my head are the two rappers, Gahyeon and Dami (Dami is my favourite lol). Songs I'd suggest is Scream, BOCA, JAZZ BAR, SAHARA (which has a fun goofy MV they made themselves instead of a official one).
⋄ Stray Kids. A boy-group that I know even less about. Their songs are usually not my style, but they have a great energy and lots of talent. Maybe others can give good recs for songs as so far the only one I vibe personally with is Maniac. Even though they're not for me I can recognise talent and hard work so give them a shot!
⋄ AKMU. A brother-sister duo--Chan-hyuk and Su-hyun respectively--that I will admit I haven't listened to in years so I don't know their new stuff. Their sound is mostly poppy and ballads. The brother did his military service so he was gone a long while as well, but he's back now. Su-hyun has a beautiful voice and Chan-hyuk is both a good rapper and singer. Songs I like are Re-Bye, Dinosaur, 200%. They also have solo stuff I believe.
Outside of k-pop? I feel like recommending Tracy Chapman. Not enough people listen to Tracy Chapman.
As a stray kids fan I can add: God's Menu, Thunderous, District 9, LALALALA and S-class as some suggestions

If you truly want to go down the rabbit hole of BTS, you should definitely check out Tyler’s Guide which I will link below as well as some other videos in them. These videos will help explain more about who BTS is and why ARMY is so protective of them. The majority of their songs are written by them and they all have messages as well. ARMY enjoys watching reactions to these videos as well and we don’t mind long videos. Just make sure to pause when speaking to we can hear you clearly and you don’t miss anything.
BTS is not your normal group either. The guys have been together starting since 2010 when they slowly started coming together. Another interesting thing is that they lived together close to 10 years something that no other group has done. Oh and they chose to live together too. It was not until 2020/2021 that they all officially had their own place. Also their age system had been different from the international age because they used to add 1-2 years to their age. For example Jungkook aka JK is the youngest and he joined when he was 13 years old. You will sometimes here him say he joined at 15 but it was actually 13. It was last year that South Korea decided to start using the international age which now puts them at the correct age for us. (I know it’s complicated)

just saying that this is a performance video, not a live performance, so they are doing the choreo in a more advanced setting than a dance practice but they are not singing, there are a ton of great live performances for butter, though, the grammy one for example

I would like to request that you check out the Permission to Dance Performance at the UN. It's their third English song, and the performance is a special one, because it was right when the pandemic shut down was being lifted. And my favorite Butter performance is at the 2022 Grammys. You have to see it.
