    I get what you’re saying 👍🏻 I was a production supervisor for 15 years then got tired of baby sitting, then one day I quit my job then went out and bought a auto transport truck. I taught myself how to drive the truck then went to the DMV and took the CDL test without going to them CDL schools. I solicited car dealerships for freight and was able to keep the same customers for 38 years. There’s nothing better than being self-employed but you will work twice as long and twice as hard then working for someone. I love the Oregon coast.👍🏻

    I spoke right out loud to you through the screen when you started talking about getting paid $20/hr to make someone else $100/hr doing things in the counterproductive way that you're being told you must. Holy hell ... I was at odds with my management for years as an aerospace engineer and making significantly more than $20/hr, but rapidly losing my mental and physical health. I'm unemployed now and on a parallel trajectory to the one you described, to begin soon with regenerative farming. All the best to you! May you find your land and your community and live the purpose you're in touch with, apart from the corporate cults. 🙏🏻

      Yeah you nailed it. It’s absolute slavery when you’re living paycheck to paycheck. I wish I had started living in my car way before I actually started doing it. And I really don’t want to go back to working for the man.

    I know exactly what you mean about the corporate thing, I've been doing it most of my adult life. I feel like a fake person sometimes at work because I have to act a certain way or keep quiet about some things that bother me. And it's crazy because I can tell everyone else does it too. It's a weird environment. It's all good because in 8 months I'm out for good. Heck yeah man, can't wait. I've recently decided against getting an apartment. I still want a home base but now I'm seriously considering buying a mobile home. There's a stereotype about that but where I'm considering buying it's not like that. Mostly older folks or working families in a very clean and maintained community. The way I figure it is that I'll own my residence, I won't be sharing walls with noisy neighbors, and the lot fee is cheaper than rent or a house mortgage. Yeah man, can't wait, it's all a work in progress and I keep my options open because you never know when you'll come up with a better idea.

    You're definitely the kind of guy that needs to work for himself. I smiled when you said you are gonna do it with the camera; because your content is awesome and I've enjoyed it for years. You could be one of the seriously big youtubers like Steve Wallis or Mav if you really wanted to be bro. Content for car camping has seriously blown up. Many people find themselves in "the grind" - earning only $20/hour while making $100/hour for someone else. That's life for many of us drones in corporate America. But not everybody fits into that mold! Thank God that there are those people like you who rebel against the system and strike out on your own. I like your idea of selling shares in farm co-ops. There is fractional ownership in everything these days. Why? Because it works. Just ask Warren Buffett, the guy who owns NetJets, the fractional ownership program for people who don't want to own 100% of a business jet. Good for you to stay true to your ideals. It works out for us because we get to travel with you through your videos. I'm telling you man, so many of us are happy that "you're back" doing what we love to see you doing. We hope you love it too ;-)

    You absolutely wouldn't be doing that in a normal van. Lol. A lift would be great. I know I appreciate the one done on my Suburban. 👍
    Yeah, you would have been screwed in that situation. I'm glad you avoided all that. I totally get what you're saying. I'm not wanting to go back to working for someone else at this time in my life. I've been working for myself (and my family) for over 20 years. I don't want to make anyone else rich again like I did before that. My main problem is not being able to find one region where I'm comfortable all year round (in the USA)--hence my desire to be nomadic. But then that necessarily limits how much I can do for myself. I can't grow large gardens or have livestock as a nomad. I guess it's all a give-and-take situation.
    12:27 mark: That sounds like a good plan. I would also strive for that. It may be harder in desert regions, but it's worth a shot for those who appreciate that climate and can embrace permaculture (raising my hand--lol). I personally can't stand to live in the PNW because of the copious amounts of rain. That doesn't mesh well with my body type.
    12:53 mark: This whole world is a cult at this point. They've twisted reality so much that they have most people still believing we live on an impossible water-covered spinning rocket ball. Lol. It really is sad how much we accept as truth, when it's actually the opposite...

    • @IntoTheMystery13
      @IntoTheMystery13  6 місяців тому +1

      I hear you on the weather thing. This rain never ends and it’s a drag. The summer and fall are really nice, especially outside of the valleys where everyone lives. Seasonal migration has been a thing forever. You might not be able to grow all the plants that you are used to, but with permaculture once’s it set up its mostly hands off. You could absolutely be gone for half the year and come back to a lust garden full of delicious food. Well said on the last paragraph.

    I'm self employed and I have been for 10 years and in various different fields. You will never work less being self employed, and you will never make the same amount as you would if you worked for someone... But you will be happier, at least in my experience. I have 8 employees under me atm and I make about 200K a year. Sounds like a lot but I work like 16 hours a day and usually 7 days a week so I'm making around the same an hour as a mcdonalds worker. I do love it though.

    Second, stop talking about what you can’t do, and start talking about what you can do.

    I’m with you on the corporate (or cubicle life) jobs. And I think having a place you own where others can stay short or long term, that’s income. Also, if you have to go mobile for a bit, one of your more dependable tenants can take care of the place for reduced or free rent. Income. Gotta have it. Keep working the UA-cam angle, more so for the eyes on what you’re doing - a few sets of those eyes could be future tenants or partners. But wherever you decide, if you go that route, research the climate, the soil, what grows and doesn’t grow. When I was looking for a piece of land, I thought about possibly growing coffee beans and selling them locally. That also meant a pollinator, and shade trees…which in that area meant avocado, which is another sturdy crop. Anyway, I bought land elsewhere, so the coffee bean idea was put on hold. My 35 foot school is, though, is going to be transformed into a heated greenhouse, so coffee might end up happening…in Montana! 😂🤣😂 Skoolie Beans. 🫘 Anyways, liking the stuff you’re posting, I think you’re on the right path. Rock on.
