  • A Must watch to the end... When I joined Black Surfers Collective back in 2014 for free Surf Lessons, I quickly realized how important this Surf life really was in our Community and wanted to learn as much about it as I could as well as the People who were keeping it together. I've met at least half of the people in this video and there are a lot more who I didn't include not because they weren't relevant it's just the video can only be so long with my attention span. However, I hope I captured value of how precious these brave women and men were for building organizations and competing post segregation and Jim Crow era which I'm sure was very challenging so I salute them all as well as the growth of our Culture... So here is my take on a brief History about The Black Surfers here in California as well as abroad who are not only doing great things in their own Communities but creating a Legacy along the way. Because it's not a Hobby, it's a LIfestyle...

    I started about a year ago and I LOVE IT. I’m in Atl but believe I’ll keep it going. One of the best sports I EVER participated in

      Oh that's awesome to hear, I have a surf bro near ATL that surfs over there, it's not big waves but it's surf, you should google it.

    Thank you SO MUCH for this documentary, I never knew the melanated roots of surfing and my 1 year old is in love with the water… I may have a future surfer and I’m so proud of my people✨✨✨✨🤍

    Sister this amazing!!! Im from long beach ca, and years ago my coworker was gonna show me how to surf but he died before he could ever teach me. I had a custom board and everything but i lost that chance.. Can you list the black owned surf classes and work shops? Id love to reach out to them...

    White people did not invent surfing. The Polynesians did. So you could say that white people technically appropriated it but surfing is pretty much for everybody.
