- Thunderstorms and showers are most likely this week in Qld, NT and WA with more heat in the mix - but some cooler and more refreshing changes coming too.
Queensland is looking the wettest of all the states and territories this week with a higher chance of thunderstorms and afternoon/evening downpours.
We track the ups and downs until Sunday - plus we take an updated look at the Christmas Day forecast for Australia.

My favourite weatherman! Thanks Phil!
Phew! 37+ is exhausting day after day. Looking forward to Sunday and the possibility of a shower. Tanks are still fullish but the garden has to tough it out.
Thanks Phil for the solid and reliable warnings of the weather to come.
Love your work Phil, thanks for the update!
Hi Phil it's was 40c yesterday and 44c today in murray bridge SA Australia 🇦🇺
Yep, but it said 42° for yesterday. Rough.
The map literally looks like a dancing flame
Thanks ❤
Thanks Phil, Merry Christmas
I feel like your modelling is better than BOM's (Australia). We love you mate!
We mostly use GFS modelling from the US so that we can cover the globe with the same consistency. We add BoM's modelling into our videos when major rain events happen as they may have some better data, but generally we use GFS so that we don't drift to using whichever maps that always look most dramatic which certainly NIWA in NZ does.
And thanks! :)

Thanks for explaing the index!
You're very welcome! It's a brilliant visual guide when there's a big hot or cold change happening.
Thank you Phil, I asked in an earlier post about those red lines, which you answered well thank you, but this map gives the explanation perfect context. Best weather presentation site ever! Have you visited Brisbane and SEQ in the stormy season? The stagnant humidity is the sapper of so much energy. Not like Sydney or Melbourne. Nice mention of the sailing as well. Keep up the fantastic work.
Thanks for cool feedback Rod! Yes, I was at my cousin's wedding in Brisbane about a decade ago and the severe thunderstorms that built up over the hills were awesome. We were on a boat on the harbour where it was dry - and lightning was great!
Thank You Phil ❤
She's a scorcher Phil!
Thanks mate
Bairnsdale on coastal Victoria hit 41° today (Monday)
41 at camperdown vic today
Hi Phil, It's that hot on Cape York its easy to melt.

Good hot Aussie summer, Amen, crack a tube.
Im on Melbourne and its hottt
Thanks Phil, always watch your videos for Aus. Can you do a fly over the yacht's in the round the world race 😊
I could but you'd only see cloud and the sea :)
Summer
❤
Not much ov a wet season for the Kimberly's 👍🦘🇦🇺
Next update 23/12/24
Everyday 38c +
Ouch!
FUN FACT: Sydney's driest month is still WETTER than Melbourne's wettest
That's a great stat!
Listen mate you better buck up me thinks. Us aussie deserve more rain and cooler weather. You are on notice. Lift your game.😊
Feedback received. It's being processed by our complaints department. We'll review over the next 20 business days... 😁
That red line (5700, 'heatwave line') is the bane of our existence on the West Island. It doesn't visit NZ at all. I want the blue line back (5400, 'elevated snow line' ) and would prefer the purple (5200, 'seal level snow'). Seal level being literal as it only snows on the beaches where there are seals, i.e. southern NZ!
We briefly get it sometimes from excyclones, or a hot-norwester out of Aussie. It's very intense when it turns up. Give me the blue line instead any day! :)
Fear porn, its always been a hit christmas..
What is making you feel so fearful?
@WeatherWatchTV The blood red heat zones plastered all over the Aus continent. A new mainstream phenomenon post climate hoax .
It's always been hot, now it's red hot.
Wow, 'excessive' heat in the central Australian deserts in summer. Who would ever have imagined it possible?
In every other colour scheme, like rainfall, yellow is a lower value than red. But not for temperature, where mild 30 degree temps are bright red and yellow is over 40. Totally not AGW propaganda.
What happened to Purple for 40deg +? (Look over there! Nothing to see here). 🤔🤨
Lol I love people like you that get so hooked up on the politics from a colour key. If you think red equals something that's a shame. A colour is just a colour, there is no colour that represents "extreme". Colour scales for heat go through red, to yellow to white for hottest. Some, like BoM, go from red to purple to black. Why people like you read politics into a map that highlights each segment is beyond me. Look at all the comments with people talking about how hot it is. Cyclones are normal, in summer too - do we also ignore them so we don't offend you? Tell ya what - YOU design a scale that covers all segments from -40 to +50 and see what you come up with. Keep in mind most humans notice the differences between 10 and 20, 20 and 25, 25 and 30, 30 and 35 and 35 to 40. Have fun.
@@WeatherWatchTV people like me? Really? Is that your best response?
You mean people who can think for themselves and who don't rely on the ABC for their 'information'?
Sounds like you are just another shill for the climate industry.
The BoM put warnings on the standard weather app of 'extreme heat' for forecasts of 28 degrees. We are destroying our energy systems, wilderness areas, farmland and economy because of the ridiculous notion of AGW. It is political and the media are in on it. So are you, apparently, based on your response.
Very disappointing. I thought you were better than that.

I prefer the Over 40 deg colour- purple. It’s going to be extreme & more common. Yellow looks too mild IMHO. People need to be shocked by global warming, not complacent & sedated. 🥵🔥
Read the other people complaining about red. Honestly you can't win with colour coding.
you could stop with the over hyped colour scheme
Just a load of fear and loathing
How is hyping by simply showing where it's 40 degrees? And what colour scheme should we use? Tell ya what - YOU design a scale that covers all segments from -40 to +50 and see what you come up with. Keep in mind most humans notice the differences between 10 and 20, 20 and 25, 25 and 30, 30 and 35 and 35 to 40. Have fun.
Seems to me that you're just triggered by the colour red when red simply represents temperatures 30 to 40 degrees. Stop watching our videos if you don't like facts - and fact is the area in yellow shading is 40 and above and read all the comments here about how many are noticing that. Why should we ignore that simply because you're so triggered by the colour?

I do like your weather insights a lot as they give way better insight than main stream
@@paulbradden6063 Cheers mate
There will be a cyclone forming around Christmas, northern Australia
Where can I buy my Santa Clause coloured shorts, so that Santa cannot get past my Solar cells and my chimney, just in case Christmas Day is not as hot as?
Thank you 😊
Thanks Phil
