The actor for Alfred is the same one from a tv series called The Batman (2004) and it was pretty great hearing his voice again after so many years. That show is fantastic by the way, though it is more action focused than the ‘90s series.
I KNEW I RECOGNIZED HIS VOICE! I absolutely loved that show growing up!
Jensen Ackles really does Batman well. I was surprised how good he sounded. Also the voice of Calendar Man plays as Polka Dot Man in The Suicide Squad.
Batman: The Long Halloween is easily my favorite Batman story of all time. It has it all: great artwork, fantastic character developments, and a riveting storyline that keeps you engaged from start to finish. While the animated film certainly honors many of the key plot points, it just never quite reaches the same level as the graphic novel. Still, this is a good adaptation that is worthy of watching. Great reaction!

Awesome! I really liked this one. If you're interested, I would recommend reading "Batman: Dark Victory". It's a sequel to The Long Halloween by the same team (Loeb and Sale) and chronicles the rest of Batman's fight against the mafia, as well as retell the origins of Dick "Robin" Grayson.
I would recommend the comic 'Harleen'. It's an orgin story of Harley Quinn and other characters that is done amazingly well. Also 'Dark Victory' and 'Catwoman: When in Rome' are sequels to 'The Long Halloween'.

Did you hear that Kevin Conroy passed away? He was the voice of Batman in the animated series and the Arkham games. Also the Killing Joke, Batman Sub-Zero, Mask of The Phantasm, and many other animated properties. He was THE definitive voice of Batman. I think a reaction to one of his performances with a dedication to him would be nice. Just a thought. The Long Halloween is a great movie and I enjoyed your reaction too😁

The Long Halloween was the first Batman comic I ever bought as a kid, and might be my favourite Batman story (probably basedon guilty bias). I love the detective noir story, the eery atmosphere and the incredible art by the sadly recently passed away Tim Sale (RIP).
I also really liked this adaptation of the story and I am really glad your checking it out.
BTW Meg I was just wondering if you were by ant chance planning to continue with your reactions for Superman: The Animated Series, because I genuinely really liked those videos as the show is incredibly underrated and really portrays one of the best interpretations of Superman and his world.
Jensen Ackles is a good batman voice actor. I always remembered him as Dean Winchester in Supernatural. One day I'll name my son after him.

Its awesome to see you enjoy these animated films and series and for not having read the comic I like the details there throwing in about Harvey and how his relationship with his wife is estranged, in contrast to gordon's family even tho he himself is having his own problems of being late for family time
This is a rare case where they made the movie better than the book. This version makes more sense than just lonely house wife.
This film is part of the Tomorrowverse, a series of movies set in 1 universe. It started with Superman: Man of Tomorrow, then JSA: World War II, then Long Halloween Parts 1 and 2. So I'll just say upfront, something in the 2nd one won't really hit you the same way but that's ok. I'm sure you'll get around to the first 2 another time.

I hope you haven't given up on the Superman animated series. Especially since a few of the plot points make their way into Justice League animated.
As some other people have mentioned, you should absolutely watch Batman: Under the Red Hood.
I think Acklrd had a lot of promise as Batman and should be in the running to be a love action Batman. Baker would be my second favorite Joker voice after Hamill. He is very versatile and takes a lot of cues from Hamill’s version. And the movie was pretty faithful to the comic. But the comic was different in that Alberto Falcone didn’t die like that and he was guilty of most of the murders. Harvey’s wife started it in the comics but Alberto and Sofia continued it. And I don’t know why they would change it in the movie, but like I had said already, it was mostly faithful to the story.
I always thought that Holiday was three people in the comic: Alberto Falcone, Harvey Dent, and Gilda Dent. I love that in murder mysteries, almost no one thinks of multiple killers.

It blows my mind that of all the Batman stories they could have adapted to live action, this one is not yet a thing!
It expands the batman villain gallery and has a plot that makes PERFECT sense at the end.
Oh I would recommend Batman Vs the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I never knew I needed to see Shredder fight Batman!
Gotta also love how the story also explains the transition from gangsters to costumed supervillains.

The thing about any DC animated movie is that they tend to change up the plot so that it's not completely the same and it's not predictable

If you like Solomon Grundy you need to see him in a couple of episodes of the Justice League animated series.
It's super memorable. If you ever feel like it, start that series. It's super cool.

I really dislike how Gilda is portrayed in this adaptation. Not true to the character from the book at all. This is a hit or miss adaptation, for me. Lately, it's like they just can't stop themselves from impacting the material for the worse.
You should watch Justice League: The New Frontier. The source material was pretty long, and they had to cut a LOT out, but in spite of that, they made a beautiful adaptation. It helped, I'm sure, that the late, great Darwyn Cook, writer of the original comic, adapted the story for the screen himself.
Anything with Darwyn's name on is worth it. He wasn't juy incredibly talented but also just a really good guy.
