God knows i wish i was close to y'all! You treat your client like she's at a mini spa. That is lovely...im so glad you are telling me the products to use as well as what not to use and the reasoning behind those decisions. Excellent information as both of my grans have completely different hair.
For a child this young I recommend using a different product like because their hair and scalp typically needs products that are very gentle. I like carols daughter and Shea moisture kids line in this case.
I know your busy but i do have a question, my 11 yr old gran has hair like this young lady but about half as full...my second gran is 3 and is of mixed race which is totally different than her sisters. What would you recommend for shampoo/conditioners for her hair. I know her mama been using whatever, but as you said, im more concerned with the best thing for her hair. Its very easily broken off so i dont put it up anymore as i was concerned the hair ties might be damaging. Its beautiful light loose curls but it sure will break! Is there something i can use to strengthen her hair. As of now im just letting it dry naturally and a leave in conditioner with my fingers u gently detangle and just ringlets on my fingers. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
The products I mentioned are great for all hair types, length and density. I’ve used these same products on clients with really fine hair, and really coarse hair regardless of how loose or tight the curl is. If her hair is easily broken then she may need a protein treatment because that’s what builds the strength of the hair strands. Another great product line that may work well for is Mielle. The shampoo and conditioner in the pomegranate & honey line is great. Also get the babassu & mint deep conditioner because this is a protein and moisture balancing conditioner (mainly protein). Wash her hair with the pomegranate & honey shampoo then use the babassu & mint conditioner (be sure to follow the instructions on the back) then after rinsing that out use the pomegranate & honey conditioner leaving it in for 5 minutes. Then apply pomegranate & honey leave in conditioner. Then you can air dry her hair in about 6 single braids. The instructions above are to be done only once a month. Protein treatments should only be done 1 time per month. If you wash her hair more than 1 per month as you should then on the other wash days follow these steps: pomegranate & honey shampoo then pomegranate & honey conditioner (follow instructions on the back) then follow up with pomegranate & honey leave in conditioner. I hope this helps!
The braids itself takes me 7hrs for this size and length which is Smedium waist length. However because I am a full service hairstylist, shampoo, deep conditioning treatment and blow dry services are included in all my services which adds an additional 1hr and 15 minutes.
