I have listened to quite a few high end streamers and servers....my subjective view is that I am yet to come accross anything that beats the Sony HAP-Z1ES in both sound and build quality
Another feature of the Bluesound Vault & Node is the Tidal MQA decoding (unfolding) which a lot of people believe improves on sound quality (I'm one of them!).
I’m stuck on the option, I have the anthem avm90 and people are telling me if I use the avm90 DAC by bypassing the node DAC via coaxial connection the avm90 will only reproduce 96k when it’s DAC is good for 768k, people also say that using the DAC in the node will pass 192k using analog connection to the avm90 although the sound is not as good as using the avm90 DAC at 96k, it seems to be a bit of a bottle neck and I’m searching for a better solution to try achieve 192k from the avm90 DAC
Found your channel when searching information about streamers. The beginning of this video you mention a video about, "Why you should get a streamer?" This seems to be the very video I was searching for but could not find the link here or in your page. Currently, I have an extensive collection of music dating back to my first CD rips in the early 80s when my company began creating data CDs for business. I am not an audiophile but would love to upgrade my system to some reasonably good equipment. To give you an idea of how old my setup is I use an older Sony STR-DE985 Receiver with hard wired Bose 201 speakers. My music player is a copy of VLC fed to the system via optical cable from my PC. Where do you recommend starting to learn more?
Hi Michael, it looks like you found the video, but you can read more here on Music Streamers if you like 🙂 www.moon-audio.com/why-should-i-buy-a-music-streamer-
Hi 👋 Mam I watched your video, I am planning to buy a Cocktail audio DAC with streaming N 25 Korean make. The price is affordable for me. Can you give me some good feedback of performance regarding this DAC N 25 Quality sound , internal chips used and other features. I checked other brands Naim , Cambridge, Arcam T+ A. Germany makes. I waiting for you positive reply. I am in Bahrain 🇧🇭 now Working for DHL.
Thanks for your comment! We're not too familiar with that brand, but it looks like it has an ESS DAC inside which we like. Best of luck in your search! 🙂
Good morning, congratulations on the review. I would like to invest in listening to liquid music, possibly in line with the value and timbre of my Accuphase 280 amplifier. I was thinking about the Bryston 3.14, what do you think? I also had good impressions of the Cambridge Audio Edge NQ and naim ND5 XS2... Thanks, Gian
The Bryston BDA-3.14 brings all the amazing D to A conversion the BDA-3 offers and also adds the ability to stream via a network connection. You can add Mass storage to the unit via the USB connections. You can map a NAS to it or you can use it as a Roon End Point. The BDA-3.14 has so many options of end use. www.moon-audio.com/bryston-bda-314-dac.html
@@moon-audio Thank you for your reply. One last question: I have no doubts about the quality of the Dac and more generally about the sound of the Bryston Bda 3.14, the only doubt is about the Manic Moose software: I have read not positive criticisms in terms of stability and fluidity, with a rich and responsive interface not enough in step with the times. Is a Roon subscription mandatory? Thank you
We've got an N20 testing with our Sopras now. Great all-in-one streamer and server! Other gear in the testing signal chain include dCS Bartok and Pass Labs INT-60. 🙂
I can see a streaming music component racing racing toward obsolescence faster than my minidisc, DCC, and a ton of other technologies. A quality DAC and lossless streaming service will suffice when I’m doing enjoying vinyl
Anyone who spends a lot on a streamer is wasting their money. I bet noone can tell the difference in a double blind test between a Wiim Mini, £80, and a £1,000 unit. The same is true for DACs, £150 buys all you need, unless you want a fancy case. Measurements prove this. And noone has ever proved otherwise in double blind tests.
measurements don`t tell how a pair of speakers or headphones will sound, will just tell its sound signature and that`s all. and a high end dac makes a big difference, digital data is not perfect 0s and 1s as theory tells, and high quality digital conversion implementation makes a big difference, there`s a lot of data in sound that you can`t just measure
The WiiM Mini is also a great deal if you are on a budget. Has a Burr-Brown PCM5121 DAC and outputs up to 192 kHz, 24-bit via fiber. While it has a DAC it's much better if paired with a better DAC via fiber. The Burr-Brown DAC is only used with the 3.5mm output. No USB for storage but easy to connect to a NAS or local network share. Only downside is the optical jack has issues with certain cables so best to use the one shipped with it.
I have one in my den and one in my bedroom, both feeding external DACs (those in some older AVRs) and they work great. Of course for my living room I'm looking for something more revealing to pair with my better gear. Those streamers they feature here, other than the Bluesound Node, are out of my price range.
@@rosswarren436 More revealing? You won’t be able to hear the difference between your Mini and a posh unit, as long as you use a decent DAC, and the latter can be had for £150. Audio is full of Veblen goods.
A Raspberry Pi with a 192khz DAC Hat running picoreplayer with Raspberry Pi zeros running Squeezelite comes in at a fraction of the cost of all these options and comes with a large, friendly online community that provides 24/7 support should you require it. I have mine hooked up to my home assistant instance which allows me to have my music follow me from room to room as I move around the apartment. It is superb
You can build a squeezebox system with any raspberry pi and a quality DAC Hat for less than $200 all in. It'll stream Spotify, internet radio stations from all over the world, plus high definition lossless files stored on a local ssd. Picoreplayer offers a free, easy to install, small Linux distro with an easy to navigate GUI. If you have a disused Android TV box looking for a new purpose, load Squeezelite onto it and pair with a Bluetooth speaker (I use a JBL clip in my bathroom with this rig). You don't need to spend that much if you know where to look
I agree, many devices becomes obsolete rather quickly. That is why I think it is better to just buy a transport and keep the DAC and amp separate. Modularity is great.
This is my second Moon Audio video. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. Who is your target audience?? Enjoy your $6K for a streamer "crowd." With how many people do you think that may have resonated. For this retiree, $6K is more than absurd. As if my (or your) ears can determine the $5,400 difference from my streamer to this. I don't know how well healed Moon Audio and it's principal employees are BUT you just might be a tad out of touch. Look, that is as nicely and gently as I can convey this. You are ACTUALLY recommending a $6000 streamer. DON'T misunderstand. The 6K won't send me to the poor house. The Nut House, definitely. Quite a service you are offering there. 😮
Sorry you feel that way, Jax. Ultimately, we feel we can hear a difference and have heard from many customers who agree... but everyone hears differently! There are many ~$1K streamers that sound great for the price and we do our best to highlight those as well. 🙂

Good recommendations. I was only missing the Silent Angel Munich M1T in the mix.
We have the Blusound node and love it! Down the road I might get a better DAC but I'm very happy with the one that is in it.
We love Bluesound! Great choice. 🙂
If you can upgrade that DAC and hear a difference in a blind test, I'll chop by ballz off and deliver them to you.

Just get a Wiim Mini and a decent DAC, about £250 in total.

Yes, but did it cost less than $6000 to build?? Lol!
You should try a high end dac first before thinking that...

Cambridge Audio CXN V2 Music Streamer should of been added to list of Streamers

Jesus. Those prices. Well if you can get people to pay that sort of money and feel they are hearing a difference, well, good for you I suppose.
Thank you, but you should include something around $300… it’s nice to see unit for $30 000 but not many people can afford that👍✌️

$30k+. For digital? Obsolete in 1 year.
