I came into the comments to say exactly this and it made me so happy someone else clocked on to it

One suggestion for everyone before you start a game with either version of the series. TURN OFF AUTO SAVE. That feature can actually hurt more then help, especially if you fail to capture or knock out a legendary Pokemon or lose a chance to get hard to find (shiny) Pokemon. Don't know why the creators thought it was a "good" idea to have the feature.
Agreed. I don't know who would forget to save in a Pokemon game
Good call, I'll remember this
For a Pokémon game, that’s actually a super helpful tip, I appreciate it
autosave is only useful when they allow us to load either from autosave file or manual save file separately like how it is in Skyrim. good idea, lacks in execution.
why would they think autosaves would be useful in a game where soft reset is a well known mechanic hahaha
I used to play this game every night when I was a kid grinding out levels. I remember catching Palkia and trying not to use a master ball 😂 Hahaa I was so young back then Im about to buy this game and relive my childhood

First off even after beating the elite four, there was plenty to do. Lots of hidden things had to be found, and of course, you gotta catch all the Pokemon to complete the Pokedex. There was a lot of stuff I found while grinding trying to level up all my Pokemon.
too bad kids today won't get to experience the true pain in the ass fight against Cynthia when you only had an exp share that would work on one pokemon at a time
You have a huge surprise coming your way!😉
It wasn't that hard
True
Wasn’t that hard especially in Diamond and Pearl
I swept Cynthia with an underleveled Gyarados in my first Platinum playthrough. I think Cynthia will actually be tougher as she now has maxed EVs, IVs, AND held items on every Pokémon
My first Pokemon game was LeafGreen, but Diamond and Pearl came at a point in my life where I can say I had some of my most fond memories. It'll be nostalgic playing through Diamond again cause I was really young when I first played it, and I'm 23 now.
Due to how the DS' interpolation worked, it had troubles rendering certain surfaces and textures not divisible in squares, so these came off as slightly deformed; one example of this is the wallpaper in the player's room in the original Diamond, Pearl and Platinum games, where its stripes end up becoming jagged the closer they get to the roof (when played on the original hardware).
Still miss my DS. And also the code breaker. Loved using it after beating the game.
I’m still waiting for that new “in a distant past” magikarp
I'm really hoping they actually do something about that Magikarp, they literally have that opportunity now with Legends Arceus
It's called Relicanth
Can't wait for new players to hear that incredible Cynthia battle track
I'm pretty excited, I love the mon but when this game originally came out I was not in a position to mess with it so its entirely new to me.
I just bought an Oled switch and Shining Pearl :D I’m a 90s baby so this is gonna be a next level nostalgia trip
The permanent experience share has to be the laziest “hand holding” feature ever. I get that it works for some who don’t have the will to grind or are obsessed with level 100’s, but it ruins the incentive of actually having to put in work with each party member. Theoretically, you can evolve multiple Pokémon without ever actually having to battle with them.
It should be togglable for sure.
The automated exp. Share ruins the Nuzlock experience as well since as you correctly said, you can level up everyone without leaving someone behind. I am doing now Nuzlock challenge on Shining Pearl and it is waaaaay easier than their normal versions
Back in the 3ds games it could be turned off. Have no idea why gamefeak thought taking away the option to customize your game experience somehow makes it better.
It feels super balanced in BDSP, imo. I was really worried about that too but I think it actually enhances my enjoyment. i can see the annoyance if you play nuzlocke though. Also, I think they made the decision not to turn it off bc the pacing in original DP leaves something to be desired and this basically fixes that. you can’t easily overlevel and one shot everything with your starter
@@carolineolineoline Agreed. Somehow exp. Share feels balanced cause there is a large jump to the elite four even WITH the exp. Share. But I'm also glad, cause Cynthia was the hardest champion to beat in my memory. She should stay that way. XD
Aww yea! this is lookin great I can't wait to play both versions
Definitely asking for this game for Christmas. I'm hoping to achieve that nostalgic feeling of me playing this game till 3 am on my DS.
wow i remember when i was a kid, i played so long to get every pokemon to the same level. no problem it was because i had time. now the experience share will help me to make the grind lower
I hope they release a garatina update. The underworld area was so cool
My first pokemon game was pokemon crystal GBC. I've always had a hard time liking the games with the new gen pokemon. But im gonna give Brilliant Diamond a go. Especially since it has Suicune. Looks fun 😊
I was certain I wanted piplup until I saw chimchar running behind the trainer
“Meh… I might not get it…”
*HM are no longer a problem
“My words were foolish…”
Mandatory experience share is not a good thing. The option to turn it off should be available.
@Vixen Lunastra if you wish to play with experience share on then by all means that is great. However, not everyone agrees. Some players enjoy playing the “old school” way. Whatever format you prefer should be available to you. It’s not about experience share being a bad thing. It’s about being forced to use it. The OPTION to turn it off would be appreciated.
I'm not buying them due to the changes but for everyone who is I hope you have a fun time.
My first game was platinum so I'm kinda sad there's no remake of that, but I'm having the time of my life. Also, there's a lot of things to do, contests, the underground, before reaching the elite 4 I might hit over 50 hours of the game just because of that
The fact that experience share cannot be turned off seems like a missed opportunity to appeal to a larger audience.
The option wouldn't change the core experience, but would allow for more people to enjoy the game in a way they see fit... I understand not everyone likes the laborious aspect of grinding so the exp share is a fair solution for that part of the audience. Yet a lot of people enjoy the slow grind for the rewarding feeling it gives as you when you establish yourself as the strongest trainer - a task that feels shallow with a mandatory exp share.
It doesn't ruin the game as a lot of people are saying, but come on Nintendo/ILCA, it's not that hard to add the option...
This. I'm going to have to, once again, get two or three teams just to split the exp and keep it a nice challenge
I'm so excited for bdsp even though I still didn't plan out my team
I never plan out a team I just go into the game and figure it out while I play.
Here are my no weakness teams for each starter that counter every single type in game, you’re welcome :)
Gliscor flying ground
Spiritomb dark ghost
Toxicroak poison fighting
Electrifire electric
Rampardos rock
Empoleon water steel
Staraptor normal flying
Frosslass ghost ice
Lucario fighting steel
Milotic water
Drapion dark poison
Torterra grass ground
Togekiss fairy flying
Weavile dark ice
Luxray electric
Roserade grass poison
Garchomp ground dragon
Infernape fire fighting
I always go with what I want to use as they come. To me Pokemon is about finding new favorites, not making the choices in advance.
Nuzlocking has influenced me greatly.
@@TheLazarusOperation in my situation, it's; my stupidity and doubling up on typings for no reason has effected me greatly... still love quagsire, despite having had no reason to have him on my team with a gastrodon, who was higher level and had a better set overall... as I said, stupidity. Got my copy of shining pearl preordered on Amazon. Super excited for the experience share as I don’t have the time to be grinding games like I used to. I still think for those who want to disable it should be an option.
If you knew what you were doing you shouldn’t need to grind.
@@ozmond no need to get snippy. I enjoyed leveling my Pokémon in my team to 100. This makes it a lot easier overall for me as I won’t need to waste as much time.
Brilliant Diamond is better, the best exclusive pokemon. Pearl is a joke lol.

What Pokemon are actually in the main story? I've read that it's the old sinnoh dex (ie 151 pokemon) but seen that some of the platinum pokemon can be found in the underground in the main story? It's so frustrating not being able to find out what the dex is like
So excited!!
The art for the trainers are so cuuuuute! I can't wait to get Shining Pearl.
The sheer amount of people who would barf over this comment…
I’m not really a fan of this artstyle myself, but i’ll live. It’s definately NOT worse than than the original games like some people seem to think

@@XaneTenshi it’s literally the same art style as the DS
@@darknid158 Both art styles are Chibi, that’s literally the only thing they have in common
It really plays like let’s go with a Diamond pearl layout. I think if they didn’t add the underground upgrades this game would be very bland. It’s a lot of fun to take a break from story to dig for fossils
They better allow me turn off the exp. share or i will riot👀
They should do a pokemon collecting thing that includes all previous versions on switch
I wish they added a secret base like in Ruby and Sapphire. My imagination run wild more when i get to decorate the base with furnitures.
I hope they add a platinum expansion as DLC bc platinum is the definitive version of D/P
I checked the Pokedex on Serebii and apparently were getting mixed Pokémon from different generations instead of the original 493. That means no national dex again
They really are smart upgrading old games that you loved after all these years
“With the pair’s release right around the corner”
They are not around the corner the right down the street.
wow the nostalgia just hit me like a frickin' truck. I remember trading and battling with my friends, making sure at least a few of us got different versions so we could catch all of them, spending time at sleepovers showing off our new catches, the first time one of us caught a shiny. This being the last one before all the "cool" people stopped liking Pokemon. What I wouldn't give to go back to that.
Lol but i also like how basic quality of life things they upgraded three gens ago are minute long talking points. EXP Share for all is still worthy of 30 seconds of screen time?
damn they keeping Cythnia team a mystery so when we hit that elite four, the ptsd about to hit hard...again
They haven’t. It’s a pretty strong team with competitive ev’s and iv’s and held items like yache berry and life orb
And it’s stronger than her dpPt team for sure
@@politoad64 with the inclusion of fairy types, id assume we see a poison jab or something on her garchomp to murder our fairys. did they ever annoucne mega evolution in these games?
I have had a tradition in my pokemon games that pokemon sword and shield broke sadly. I made sure a skitty was somewhere on my team during the game. Now looks like skitties are back! and i cannot be more happy! Why skitty? My skitty in Omega ruby broke groudon... twice. The primal one yes.

i have pokemon white for my nintendo ds. in pokemon white it's best to choose the fire type chimcar as your starter pokemon at the beginning of the game because in pokemon white in the second gym it's a grass type gym and it's gym leader is almost impossible to beat without a fire type pokemon that's why in "pokemon white" it's best to choose chimcar as your first pokemon. if you don't choose chimcar then you're screwed and messed up because i don't think they let you catch any fire types at that point in the game because you're only at your second gym. i can beat roselia but it's evolved form roseraid is very hard to beat without a fire type.
I am looking forward to get both Pokemon brilliant diamond and Pokemon shining pearl games for Christmas🎄. I also would liked to play as Dawn and choose Piplup as my starter Pokemon so I can do better than the anime Dawn and what Piplup would never do. And that is catching more Pokemon and evolve Piplup into Prinplup and then to Empoleon.
However when I was watching UA-cam of any ideas what to expect on Pokemon brilliant diamond and Pokemon shining pearl, but when I was looking to find out about Wonder Trade that I've just found out today that at the moment is unavailable😱. What is this Statue at 5:34? It looks like a palkia dialga fusion.
I like he points out a lot of features as positives though the hard-core community thinks of them as bad things like experience share always on and auto save and the fact that it's so 1:1 it didn't get the remake upgrades oras did
Why is experience share bad
@@bradydelliott it should have been on a toggle so the nuzlockers could punish themselves more if they chose to. It's awesome for more casual play tho. Makes magikarp an auto include.

Ive got a question for Pokemon players: I've never played a Pokemon game before and may get one of these....
I read that only the first 493 Pokemon are in this game (or something like that). Does that include classic Pokemon like Charizard , Squirtle, Staryu, etc, or are they from completely different regions that are obsolete from BDSP?
The 493 would be referring to all Pokémon between gen 1 to gen 4 (which does include the Pokémon you listed) best thing to do would be google gen 1 - 4 Pokémon and take a gander :)
kieran solman Will do, thanks! I just know there's classic Pokemon from other regions but I was confused whether they could be found in Sinnoh or not
When you play through the game for the first time, you'll only be able to encounter Pokemon that are listed in the "Regional" Pokedex. Once you defeat the Elite 4 and Champion, you'll be able to acquire the National Dex, which will expand what Pokemon can be encountered in the game to include most of the Pokemon from the 3 previous generations before Gen 4 (which these games are remakes of). As for Pokemon after Gen 4, we're not entirely sure, though there is hope that they might include some of the Pokemon that were unfortunately unable to return in the previous games Sword and Shield (though admittedly that's a whole can of worms for another day)
