I played and finished this game on Mame Plus+ with a keyboard on my PC. The main achievement here is not finishing the game the fastest and breaking a world record; the main goal is showing you the details overlooked for years, the location of secret prisoners and bonus points by the fastest way. HEY!..
* *SLOW MOTION!...* Some slowing downs are featured in the original MS2. It was like this when I was playing in the arcade machine, also in PS1, and also in the Mame emulator that I play the game from. Don't be bothered by it too much...
* Some people assumed that this game was *Metal Slug X*, and I missed some of the secrets. I have to tell them that they're wrong because MS2 and MSX might seem the same but they're very different fictionally, that includes the secrets.
* You gain *invisibility for 2 seconds* when you enter a vehicle or exit. (also when you get fat, when you get diet and lose weight and also when you're gliding with the parachute). You don't die in these 2 seconds even though you've been hit by bullets or a bomb. This feature applies all Metal Slug games. After all, they want you to use this power in the game. Otherwise it's impossible to get pass the Final Bosses from MS2 and MS3.
* *Boss prisoners are not secret.* They help the ones who are having trouble passing the level, by providing them weapons and bombs (sometimes extra points). If I stop and wait for them while playing at Speedrun pace, it may cause dissatisfaction and extend the video's length.

On the Airplane Boss on the first Mission, theres actually a faster way to take it down, just bombed the crap out of the engines usually i dnt even see the soldiers come out, just a tip haha i usually play this on the arcade with just one ¢25

When I used to play the game and reached the Final stage and saw Soldiers helping me out, It was such a wonderful sight for me. It was like all Humanity came together to defeat the Space Aliens. Awesome Speedrun

We figured that bug out on the arcades years ago when the internet wasn't around. Dont know who did, but eventually everyone knew about it. Newer kids were like whaat?

I remember playing this in 1999 at an arcade. $5 later, I was on level 2. What a trip.
The animations in this game is just amazing. The slightest movement and detail, it's just wonderful.
I think my favourite is the melee knifing. So cool

And its a 90s game none the less. Goes to show back then games were made for fun but also money was its reward.

The creators went hard on detail for all metal slug games. For being such a simple game, it adds to the experience. In my opinion, they are all classics.
Such a memory from my childhood...watching your play is like art appreciation!
These pixel games are more playable than any of modern AAA titles, these graphics just doesnt show its age, still looks awesome!! ;)

ahaha, so many funny references in this game. the nazi forces supposedly having alien craft and weaponry. the aliens ingame looking like the war of the worlds incarnation. and the end with the plane flying into the mothership straight out of independence day. great game, great playthrough :)

Whoa talk about Street fighter. I never knew "hadouken prisoners" could pull a familiar move at 2:07. Man, this game brings back a LOT of memories. I used to spend as much as $5 playing MS2 2 players, and I could have used that money to glutton myself for a week in my country.

Believe it or not, my wife and I played this game for the very first time today thanks to the gaming stick I just got lol. LOVE IT!
So much destruction, so much chaos and the Co-op is awesome. The bosses, though, they are freaking tough lol!

At 9:05 if you leave the last soldier with shield alone and drive the plane to the air, then drag the scene to the right, which makes the soldier like "just" out of the screen, then you can hit the shield-out-of-screen with the plane tail to get a large amount of points.
See, in my head, this is how I remember playing the game. Mysteriously I seem to die a whole lot more and miss all the secrets when I try to replay them...
Missed secrets
15:00 - the suit case on the upper left of the screen at the start
23:48 - on the platform if you shoot up theres a POW that gives you bombs
28:27 - 2 pows were missed
On the first lower platform if you shoot up a pow falls and gives you points, on the right side of the platform if you shoot or throw a grenade a pow pops up and gives your bombs
29:10 - the fuse box right bellow the switch is a tricky one, you gotta move a few inches to the right first but dont make the box dissappear
After moving a little bit go back to the box and shoot at it upwards or throw 1 grenade and a pow will appear to drop points

It's cool, reading the description that you finished this with a keyboard. It's a common misconception that playing such games with keyboard is horrible. The keyboard is so precise as soon as you place your fingers above your preferred buttons. In fact, sometimes in many console games, pressing the dpad forward slightly off can make you accidentally press UP, that's what I hate. It's just your big thumb on a dpad. Also on analog, it's very easy to not make the movement you intended. While on keybaord with WASD or arrows, there is no way I press D and accidentally press W.

I think you forgot 2 secrets. In the 2nd lvl there is a golden bat in one of the last boxes before the, but I think this only triggers if you don't let the archelogist become a mummy? In the 5th lvl there is a rocket launcher if you destroy the cars left to you right at the beginning

Un buen juego sin duda, pero lo malo son los molestos problemas de framerate que alentan mucho la acción, aunque afortunadamente se arregló en Metal Slug X al usar los cartuchos de 1giga bit de capacidad (Giga Power) y corre mucho más fluido.
