That's fantastic news! It really is bit crazy that it was clear from the previous video which bit was affected and it worked on the first try for you. Mine was bit 3 IIRC and the trace was severed under C20. The PSU in my IIsi actually also died recently, it is now back on the TODO-list of repairs. I also love the design of the IIsi and mine also came with the full page display, so I will recap it soon. I'm glad I could help, I very much enjoy your videos!
Yes, so cool that you could diagnose it from what you saw - big thanks! I wouldn’t have figured it out on my own. Good luck with the PSU and glad you enjoy the videos!
Yes, good ol’ UE5. I had a crusty UE5 that I had to remove and make repairs between its pads and traces, some of which were underneath the chip. Glad you were able to diagnose and fix your jailbars!
Yay! It's so good to see something just work after you do something like a recap. What's the Peter Rabbit thing called? My mother read them all to me when I was younger and I love to give it a try.
Thanks, yes I'm pretty pleased! It's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter - it's on a CD with something called "Dinosaur Safari". The Peter Rabbit part seems to be the same as this: archive.org/details/CDRM-300500_3
I've used the same method to retro bright my Performa 450. It isn't the quickest method, but it is certainly the cheapest. The trick is to apply the cream and cover over and over again, that way the imperfections will eventually cancel themselves out.
Great diagnosis from the commenter and great repair. Delighted for you. If anyone knows of schematics for a Quadra 700 board, let me know. I've a VRAM issue on my Q700 board that eludes me.
Bra jobbat!
Switch the 40MHz Crystal with a 50MHz crystal to get equal in speed to a Mac IIci. But also find a 68552 Math CoProcessor and put it in. Then it would be a Mac IIci! The 68030 on the Mac IIsi is running at 20MHz can withstand being bumped up to 25MHz. Going faster than that will cause problems.
@@retrotechguy Yes, the FPU socket is part of the Nubus riser card that seems super rare. Maybe someday there will be replicas... I can wholeheartely recommend the 25 MHz upgrade; I did this on my machine and it works great.

Thanks! Wow, there really must be a weakness there by UE5 somehow. Great that you could get to the fault on yours!

Yes, several short sessions seems to be the way to go. It's no quick fix but appears to be reliable. I'll have a go at something bigger soon.

Thank you! I’ll keep my eyes peeled.
Awesome dood.

Tack för erbjudandet! Jag återkommer om jag behöver - kan mycket väl hända. 👍

Yeah, I might! FPUs are hard to come by but the crystal could be interesting.
