- Sorry for the increasing sound of rain near the end of the video. I do everything in 1 long take because personally I cant stand over-edited videos and I want my reactions to be as genuine as possible. This blade speaks for itself.. If you're watching this video you probably have your mind made up already and need to go ahead and just order it. Anyway Thanks again to all my loyal subs so far... This is a new channel but I have big things planned so please stay tuned. 🇺🇲🍻🔪🗡⚔
Thanks Bro. Nice tool.
Tyty! It’s served me well! Sorry, UA-cam doesn’t like giving me my notifications on time. So I just seen your comment… 🤦
Just bought one in black, hopefully be here soon. luv the design, i also have the SOG seal pup Great knife
That’s awesome, congrats!! Once you get tired of the traction coating check out my video on how to remove it. Was the best decision I ever made. It actually makes it perform sooo much better. It’s a noticeable improvement when you have it in a bind. Like batoning or de-barking.
This is a great knife, have it for motorcycle trips and other camping trips. Never had a task that it wasn't up for
Agreed! It’s also a very comfortable knife to use as well. Everything about it is just feels good to me. I actually removed the coating and was blown away by how easily it glides through stuff now. I’ve since bought a 2nd. 🤣
I've had mine for a few back country trips. Will never, EVER go on trip again without it. Really good wilderness knife that I hope to carry for YEARS to come. A+ to Becker and Ka-bar for this one.
I couldn’t agree more. I actually bought the desert tan one not too long after making this video. I keep it strapped to my plate carrier. It’s a good size for so many things. I’ve beat the crap out of the one in the video and it still performs like a champ.
@@Tier1GearEDCReviews You should do an update video about it! Love your content, by the way!
Thanks!! I really appreciate it. Apparently YT isn’t giving me all my notifications on older videos because this is the literally the 5th one I’ve found this morning scrolling through. I’ll definitely do an update though. Been wanting to for a while now. I’ve actually been wanting to do a solo camping trip so I can do some more filming. I have TONS of new fixed blades that deserve a video tbh.
If the BK16 and BK17 had a baby, the BK18 would be its offspring. Awesome knife.
You're NOT wrong there lol. It very well could be the perfect blade. I still use both all the time. 🔥🍻
great video. I really love this design, and I think Im gonna pick one up sometime before the spring so im ready to rock. I also think I might grab a Jaroz Turok which is also another awesome small to medium sized survival knife.
It's a beast of a blade. I actually removed the traction coating and gave it a black forced patina. It performs sooooo much better now. I actually have a how to video on it if you want to see what it looks like when finished.👊
held one today at my local shop. Very sexy profile. Not too heavy, not too light. Affords a full grip. Feels more tactical than Bushcrafty.
It really does. I honestly thought the same thing when I first got it in hand. Even still it performs quite well at the bushcraft stuff. Much better since I removed the coating and gave it a vinegar bath for patina. It's a beast now.
Just bought this knife and I love it! Although I wouldn't mind more textured handle.
Yeah I don't blame you. I'm swapping them out with a black textured micarta set soon. A friend of mine is custom making me some... Should be here soon hopefully.
i just ordered micarta scales for it apparently there are handles for large and small bk knives all large are the same all small the same i think i wont mind the bronze color blade and sheath with different colour handles to break up the look a bit
@@aaronbenns9051 so do I purchase the small handles for the Bk18
Great knife, I'd like a custom taco style kydex sheath for it though.. and micarta scales.
Yeah I'll probably end up making one. My Tops CUT 4.0 sheath is perfect so I'll probably just copy it. It literally fits every type of lock I've tried on it.
I was thinking on pulling the trigger on this one but if I buy another fixed blade it is likely a SOG Pillar.
That blade is a beast! The profile is that of a sexy Swedish model lol. A buddy of mine picked one up not too long ago and I gotta say it feels better in the hand than it looks. It actually reminds me of the Tops Apache Dawn tbh. Which is a bad ass blade as well...
Awesome new video can definitely tell your getting more comfortable
Much appreciated! I'm still having trouble talking to myself though. Lmao. If we didn't have this social distancing thing going on I probably would never have even started the channel. It's kinda given me a reason to use all this equipment I have. Before I'd just be out in the woods somewhere keeping it all to myself but now I kinda wish I'd have started sooner. Ntm it gives me a great excuse to keep ordering more. Lol
Btw... I'm emailing you rn about the other thing.
I believe that snap is to help with the rattling
very good video and information! good job i appreciate
Right back at you! I appreciate the feedback. I'm still new but I'm just getting started. I have big things planned for the channel and I hope to see you in the comments again soon. 🍻
@@Tier1GearEDCReviews It's probably a bot.
@@sheltermonkey6065 lmao hes actually real. We've had actual convos about knife specifics. Though I wouldn't be surprised. Been getting at least one per video looking back.
@@Tier1GearEDCReviews Sorry, he fooled me! haha
@@sheltermonkey6065 Lmao its hard to tell with some tbh. I'm starting to catch on tho... 😂
i like the belt loop just wish i could order the black version in ontario
You know I've actually heard someone else say that recently. Worst case scenario you can remove the coating and get some black scales. It fits the same scales as the bk16. I actually just made a video explaining how to remove it... if you don't already know of course. You would still have a tan sheath but you could always get a kydex made for it and use the same belt loop. Just a thought if you really want to try it. It's a great blade but I love it even more with the coating removed. Thanks for watching!🍻
thanks i checked and just ordered the small bk micarta handles apparently all small bk knives 16 excetera share the same scales same as well for the large series bk's
That's awesome! Yup I ordered some a while back that fit perfectly. You can always remove the coating later once it wears down a bit. I think it will look great 2 tone. Very nice🍻👊
when the weed is top notch!!
That’s why I like it. It could do bushcraft and also as a fighter
I’m sure it would excel at both… Though I can definitely attest to one of those for sure! 🤣
All jokes aside this is hands down the best BK I’ve ever put my hands on. By a long shot!
This BK18 or the TOPS CUT 4.0? I'm troubled about those two... which one would be a better choice.
Cut 4.0 hands down. From the sheath to the overall feel of it in your hand (both directions) makes for an awesome edc/survival blade. Especially if you put the Tops clip on it like I did and wear it iwb on the hip like a pistol. It conceals it perfectly and is super comfortable to wear. I hardly notice it's there. Even driving.
Thanks a lot!!! This tips the balance towards the 4.0 :)
@@brauss878 Anytime brother! I think it's waaaaay better looking too... Especially the Blackout model. I'm not a fan of the one with the brown grips. It doesn't fit the knife to me. Imo of course
I've had mine long enough now to give an honest opinion. The blade is awesome esp convexed BUT that handle is an absolute travesty. I have to buy the Micarta I can't do it any longer. Why do companies make such skinny freaking grips.
Anyways, I've heard the micarta has a hair more palm swell ...I might have to add liners and reheat the sheath to fit the scales. It is a really awesome knife but the handle for me just spoiled the honey moon real fast.
I've only had it a couple days and while I absolutely love the blade, I have to agree about the actual handle texture. Durable, yes. Ergonomic, yes. SECURE, no. This will fly right out of my hands if my palms got sweaty and I was doing something intensive. So I ordered some custom scales for it, which supposedly have a better grip, and look cool too. If it turns out those ones are also useless, I'll save up for Micarta.
@@lapinbeau Here is my knife I reviewed on my other channel.
ua-cam.com/video/ekpzQSpurmk/v-deo.html
It's so much better with the micarta but I added liners to mine .
@@Airik1111bibles Yup, I already commented on that vid. That knife is a thing of beauty. :) Where do you get liners?
I actually took my wood burner and tightly stippled the scales. Feels a little like micarta.
@Alexander Johnson That's smart and affordable...and boy do I like money saving ideas right now .
Hi. How is the finish holding up? Someone said that the black finish is smoother but much less durable than the tan finish.
Its is actually smoother tbh.. So far its holding up pretty well. Its starting to scuff up a bit but hasn't started wearing off yet. I think if it was a little rougher it would probably look worse than it is but being that its smooth, it actually helps push it through things better. But yeah it does look like a thinner layer so I wouldn't be surprised if it starts to show through soon.
I know I’m late to the game but looking at this knife and found the tan one on stock at a decent price. For y’all who’ve had it for a year or so now how do you like it? How has it held up? Worth nearly 100 bucks? Which I understand isn’t the most expensive knife. I’ve definitely paid more for a knife but just would like to know how everyone who’s had it for a while feels?
I'll never go into the back country without this knife ever again. It's exceeded all my expectations. It's amazing for camp work. I beat the hell out of it all last summer and it's held up with no issues. Really holds a good edge, but is easy to sharpen in the field if need be (that's 1095 for you).
I’m with him on that one. You can’t really put a price on something like that imo. If I can spend $100 on a knife that will hold up to the scrutiny and still beg for more, I’m all in! I have KNIVES I’ve paid double and even triple four in some cases that I wouldn’t even consider trying the things that I have with this one. People are so caught up in the whole “super steel“ fad that they completely forget about just how good of a steel 1095 is for outdoor use. Of course you have to keep it oiled a little bit, but being able to sharpen it easily in the field goes a long way with me. If you personally seen what all I’ve put mine through you would have zero reservations against purchasing one. Btw sorry I’m just seeing this. I try to reply to everyone but sometimes I don’t get all my notifications. Had he not commented above I’d have probably missed it. 🍻
Where can I order this knife heard Amazon has fakes please give me a link
Great vid cool knife I wanna be friends too!
Lmao 😂🍻
Why didn't they just keep making the bk17
That’s a damn good question. I guess it just wasn’t selling like the 16 or some of the others. I personally liked the 17.
@@Tier1GearEDCReviews I do too. Good for a little bit of everything. Good skinner. I don't take it out just anywhere being they stopped making it.
Yeah mine has become more of a “shtf” carry. I put it with a 3 day pack I made up last year. I may break it out one day and put it to use. Sorry I’m just seeing this, I’ve been a little under the weather lately and I’m just getting to check my comments. 🍻
Mine is tan :)
Nice! I've considered getting a tan one. Would match my Bugout Bag better that the black.🍻🙏
I like the blade, but the handle material is the worse on any knife ever.
Agreed. Was just talking about that... I have some custom black micarta scales being made for it right now. Gonna strip the blade and polish it up before I think. The coating will come off eventually anyway. Might as well do it right. Lol
