I remember watching your 2015 videos about your journey and the race, after which I went out and bought my first Pikes Peak (and a second one a few years later, in addition to the 1260 Enduro). Leave it to Ducati to bring sophisticated engineering and beautiful Italian design together in an ADV motorcycle that handles much the same as a Panigale. Yours is the most concise, excitement generating video to come out of the Palm Springs press launch. Well done!
ADV track bike, love it 👍. This new livery is sweet. Such history. RIP Carlin. Enjoyed watching Rennie and you ride the mountain too Jaime. Mean leans⚡️
I had a 1200DVT Multi in 2016 and it was a brilliant bike. I now have a KTM 1290 Superduke GT - it too is brilliant. I was watching with real interest and then the bombshell dropped at 8:05 - £30K and you reckon that’s not a lot of money! I don’t know what planet you live on, but it sure ain’t the same one as me my friend! 😂
Thanks for your review Jamie. Having run the Pikes Peak race yourself on a Multistrada in2015 (I followed your series), you definitely have the crediblity to evaluate this bike. How much of a difference did you sense in Race mode compared to Sport? Same question - restated: Have they (Ducati) really made a big change in the Granturismo engine performance with Race mode or is it more of a minor chage? Does Ohlins electronically controlled supension change ride dynamics in good ways compared to the V4S Marzocchi electronic suspension?
Great review. Lotta bike and lot of money. I had to think about it for few days then my wife says. The 2015 Multi 1200 Twin is basically the new Pike’s Peak with more midrange torque for 20k less shekels. I’d argue the old bike handles better to boot!
@@adamlee9071 2010 478 lbs wet, 150hp, 90 ft*lb@7500 RPM, 2022 527 lbs wet, 170hp, 92ft*lb@8750. They have the same power to weight ratio (.31 vs .32 respect) so you’d be wrong. I’d give the nod to the 2010 for more grunt and better chassis.
Power to weight yes,but you were talking about handling, better chassis, plus the ohlins suspension, the handling of this new pikes peak is no comparison. I have older bikes too,and I love them, but trying to compare the two bikes we are talking about is chalk and cheese. My gen 1 diavel has nothing on my 1260s diavel for example, but I love my gen 1,don't worry I get it,you're in love with your bike and that's a good thing. @@adamlee9071 I don’t own a multistrada. I own an 1199s Panigale. My original comment was with regards to the 2015 Multi. The 1260 is the dullest handling multi of the lot, so I can see why you’d think the V4s was an upgrade. Without question the 2015 Pikes Peak would wipe the floor with the 2022 edition on a twisty mountain road. You realize there’s a 70 lb weight difference correct? Not even close. As an engineer I can tell you not every evolutionary step instantiates progress. Just look at the new monster, or the twin / V4 Panigale….still hasn’t won an WSBK championship. Every review of the V4 MS speaks to a loss in sharpness, and the extra 70 lbs, longer wheelbase, and relaxed steering angle isn’t helping. You’re just living in a dreamworld.
Hi Jamie what a great review again, I had to ask you, I do own a 1260s Multistrada and I’m thinking to getting one but I’m not sure if is worth to loose money by switching I have nothing bad to say about my 1260 but I know that you have more feedback because you have ride both of them, so my question is if is a big difference and I will be very surprise and how big is the difference and will be worth to loose money. Thank you very much:)
Fantastic reveiw ! Absolutely amazing bike ! But to be very honest it's way too much of a bike. Power wise, price wise... Just too much hahaha ! I'd be quite content with the multi V2 I think . Have you ridden the V2 ?
Wow, its just always so amazing listening to you talk about these motorcycles. But what i don't understand why is this still called an adv bike ? It has the look of it, sure, although even that too is hybrid, leaning more on the sporty side. In terms of going off-road, what can it rly handle with the mentioned specs? I'm not familiar with the Pikes peak track, how aggressive is the off-road at the end so maybe that's why i don't understand. Anyways love your videos , cheers !
Great review...now all we need is a trip to the local bistro for a Pikes Peak Burger...hmmm doesn't exist may I suggest a brioche bun, Italian garlic aioli, crispy fried onions, and a slice of provolone cheese 🧀....

Great video, maybe someone can elaborate as I am very interested in this bike as I tour and I do track days; yet, I would like to do very mild off-road stuff once in awhile. Would you guys still get this bike knowing those riding preferences? I know the V4S may be better but I really want that performance oriented riding 90% of the time. Appreciate any thoughts on this! Ride safe!
Thanks for the impressions. This generation of V4 engines from Ducati are embarrassingly thirsty, to the point that they are environmentally irresponsible and hurts the wallet at the pump far too often. Weirdly, the Multistrada packages cost significantly more than the constituent accessories bought individually. I just bought a 2022 BMW S1000R with M sport package and 2 other add-on packages, that still turns out cheaper than the Multistrada. My S1000R has a phenomenally frugal engine (est double the mileage per tank fill), torquey, brilliant handling with noticeably better build quality wrt switch gear, plastic rigidity, seat, paint layers etc, the minutiae. Though I am missing out on the radar and blind spot monitoring which has been a big draw for me and got me bike shopping again in the first place 🤦♂️. Ducati should change their strategy a bit and focus on engineering rather than putting all their money on lavish marketing and flashy brand launches. I also own the xDiavel and the fuel sensor has failed on me, 3 times in 4 years, apart from 2 recalls, bothersome. I am impressed by the quality of my BMW bike and will relook at the Ducatis in 2026, hopefully things might change by then. Edit: I now realize that Ducati overstates their performance and quality tolerance on paper, while BMW understates it and mentions it lesser than actual real world figures/feel. BMW does follow the adage of, underpromise and over deliver. That’s the Bavarian engineering mantra, undoubtedly impressive in the long run.
Very well said. I love Ducati so much, but the thirst of the Multistrada V4 are so fun breaking. I need to make a choice now. Rational long range Gas-milage riding with a GS or riding bike is fun and no matter what I want the PP.
Great review Jamie, but was wondering, if you already owned the Multistrada V4, is it worth trading. Not that I do, and looking to trade, just wondered if, at the price, it would be such a good deal.
Dope motorcycle and the only motorcycle I would seriously consider when comparing to BMW. However 30k for a motorcycle that doesn’t have great wind protection, electronically adjustable windshield, reverse, standard heated grips and heated rider and passenger seats and not great touring range is just a no go for me. I personally think when something tries to do everything it ends up doing nothing well. Give me an r1250rt with that engine and I’m sold 👍
I have a 2018 multi pikes peak with a full system which is a great bike. I’m not convinced the v4 is worth mine in part ex plus about £14k cash, just too much money
It can make you a cappuccino, it can wash your laundry, it can take your kids to school, it can file your taxes, it can fly you to a remote island, and even give you an inner-space trip view of planet earth. But it's going to cost you.
The refletor on that Brake Caliper is an Italian Crime :) If I bought this bike, I would rip that off before leaving the dealership. To be honest, I don't see the purpose of this bike. Multi V4 and Panigale V4 are perfect for what they are for. This one will have very few buyers at that price level.
The purpose is for those who can’t afford or don’t have the space for two bikes (a comfortable tourer and a sport rocket), or who are older and can’t ride in the position a Panigale or other track bike puts you into, at least not for more than an hour - the Pikes Peak is a perfect hybrid/compromise. The Pikes Peak versions have sold well over the years because there’s a lot of folks who want something as sporty as possible but without the pain of being in a track bike position, and with the option of putting on panniers for multi day long rides. I have a 2019 Pikes Peak and it’s the best and most versatile bike I’ve ever had and can’t imagine not owning it forever. I can’t do a track day on it and be just as fast as everyone else in my group, and then put boxes on it and ride to another state comfortably.
Its just perfect for riders like me Loving the Brakes Power and Stability of a supersport bike an just enjoy 2/3 Track Days a year without Having to Switch several bikes. I dont understand why people call this an ADV, its a sports tourer, something you need to compare to the new Kawasaki H2SX or the upcomming M1300GS.
