Community Health Practitioners are the Health Doctors in the community were there is no Medical Doctors so support and encourage them they are medical professional that service as the front tires of Public health services in the world
There are many formal education options you can take, and depending on the institutions/universities/colleges the names of the majors may vary. Generally anything under the umbrella of a Public Health (Community Health, Population Health etc.) major would be a natural fit with someone who enjoys the work as a CHW.

Go volunteer or work at local agencies (shelter or help family/people with community resources to build up community knowledge and experience. This will be good for the hiring process. You really learn by doing with this type of work, good luck.

It really varies depending on employer, but average is $16-$18hr.
