Hi Mandy, thanks for this very helpful video. FYI, the minky blanket has been renamed as Velveteen Microfiber Blanket, because the word 'minky' is trademarked, I was told by the printify support.
thanks heaps Mandy. You have answered a lot of unknowns and some great advice on making sure you explain to the customer exactly what the blanket is. I also watched you your video about creating seamless designs and it was also awesome.
Thank you for doing such a thorough review of this blanket! I love creating blankets, and currently I only have one in my shop, but this gives me new direction. Your tips were especially helpful, particularly the one about using an SVG as the pattern . Have a successful Q4!
This is the most detailed video I have seen about blankets. I am seriously considering selling blankets once I open my Etsy shop, so this was extremely helpful. Thank you for your guidance and insight. Very much appreciated!
Very grateful for explaining and showing the different blankets. A special thanks for mentioning the svg file, as this will resolve some of my design problems from losing printing quality.❤
Mandy!! The SVG tip is everything I needed! Thank you for your always on time information. Have you had any experience with the hooded blankets?? There seems to be a high demand and VERY low comp however very few reviews out there. Any tips?
Thank you for this great video review. I, and I'm sure others, would love it if you reviewed more blankets. I'd be interested to see what you think of Printify's Crushed Velvet Blanket and their Arctic Fleece Blanket.
Up front cost is what stops me from doing something like this. I remember when my shirts sold and my account kept going down down down. So now I just do digital design for those that do POD. So this video helped me too :)
So I'm just starting, do you mean like since printify will charge you when they ship the order, they take it straight out of your bank account every order? And then Etsy doesn't pay you til the end of the month? So with Dec. you will need to have enough money in your account to pay for all the orders up front essentially? That sucks
Hi! Thank you so much for this video! Appreciate the comparison of the blankets!! Has Printify changed the option of the base color of the blankets? I see color options now!
Just made a double-sided blanket and ordered for my granddaughter's birthday...took a while in production, just to note. Longer than expected. Hope this also helps on the blanket info. Thank you for sharing your samples and your review on them!
Thanks for such a great and detailed review Mandy! Right on time as I just started researching blankets yesterday and I was asking the same questions that you answered. Thank you!
This is great information. Could you show us how to develop a personalized blanket from Canva to Printify to Placeit, and finally to Etsy. I've been trying to do that for a while, and I have not been able to figure it out yet
Same here. I broke down and bought some drag and drop blanket mockups off of etsy. They look really good, and I think I only spent 7 bucks for a bundle of 25.
Hello Mandy, thank you for such a detailed review. Could you please tell me which purple you choose for the blanket (Pic the Gift) in the video, I love the purple's tone. (Hex Code would be wonderful)💜
Thanks for your video, very informative. I have been selling a heck of a lot of blankets from Colorway and am getting slammed with negative reviews. Not sure how to climb out of that hole other than to close my shop. I did add in a few things in my ads that you've said from your video. Peoples major complaint is that its an overpriced, cheap blanket from China. My blanket pricing is not as high as what you said you sell yours at, small margins for sure and I include shipping. I was getting 3 plus orders a day for a few weeks and as soon as the bad reviews started coming in my traffic and sales have dropped off a cliff.
Can you PLEASE do a video on the best way to upscale images for blankets? I am at my wits end, trying EVERYTHING because some images are 300 dpi, some aren't, some are small and need to be upscaled, etc. I am going from Adobe, to an upscaler, to Canva to turn it into an SVG, using so many softwares, is there just a simple way to do it, each and every time, no matter what image you are using? (especially when not doing a pattern print) PLEASE HELP!
I have been waiting for a blanket video from a reputable source! Thank you! I have been wanting to try blankets. Specifically the Sherpas. Could you do a video on those? I have designed for an MWW Sherpa... but haven't listed it. You addressed one of my concerns: dark designs. I wanted to take some of my best selling designs and make them blankets- but they are very dark, so I am not sure. Lastly, I am familiar with the idea of exporting as an SVG. I have heard that when you do this, you can potentially lose some of the detail. My designs are fairly detailed. What is your opinion regarding that? Thanks for another great video!
I recently added a blanket to my shop. I chose the Sherpa Blanket by Generic Brand from Pic the Gift because I wanted something substantial that came in larger sizes (I hate small throw blankets). This blanket is offered in three sizes and I'm doing 50x60 and 60x80. I also liked that they offer two colors for the fluffy side- beige and grey. I use the main part of the design for ornaments and pillows on white and three shades of blue and wanted to offer a similar range in the blankets. I opted to create a PNG design with a few other elements knowing I'd use one of the brick patterns on Printify and used their color backgrounds (white, both blues and black). I ordered a sample of the larger one in the dark blue and I'm absolutely thrilled with it! The printed side is very short but very soft and you have to try hard stroking it the wrong way to see a lot of the white. The sherpa side is super soft, fluffy and makes the blanket heavier than just a fleece one. The design came out sharp and absolutely beautiful. I priced it so that even at a 15% discount I would make a tiny profit and it's not more than a lot of the nicer blankets on Etsy. I have fewer than 200 sales, so I'm not looking to make a lot of money on it yet, I just want the sales. Lastly, I use the Printify pictures as well as a PlaceIt model mockup where the blanket is draped over the shoulders and I can just show the print but crop the edges so it looks like the same blanket. Hope this helps.
how do I get a edge to edge design on a Printfy blanket using Canva they only go up to resize 5000 5000 so when I place my design in printify it dosen't reach the edge. Thank you Mandy
I have a question. I’m selling velveteen plush blankets from printify and my question is how to make sure the colors of my image on screen prints out exactly the same on the blanket. I’m doing blown up prints like owls, sloths, foxes etc. do you suggest enhancing the color in any specific way on my printify file or not? Thank you!
Hi there , I love your videos. I hear you saying to personalize more. Can you demonstrate in a video how you go about this on your etsy store with POD products, Thanks!
Hi Mandy! Thank you for this detailed review! I have several blankets in my shop & I’m doing the Printed Mint Minky Blankets. Do you know the difference between these and your favorite minky velveteen?
I personally switched to Printed Mint from Pic the Gift after some lower reviews on the Pic the Gift quality. The reviews I get on blankets are now 5-stars
I'm in search of blanket POD provider. On Printify there are a few like Miami Sublimation or SPOKE to choose from. Could you please share which provider you are using?
Love all your videos, very helpful I learned a lot from you Mandy, no words to say THANK YOU! I'll subscribe soon. I'm overwhelmed I just opened my store and I struggle. You made me keep positive.
Great informative video. Thank you so much! What blanket do you think is the best for being outdoors? I know they offer a picnic blanket but that is too small for what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something that is going to pick up the least amount of dirt or sand.
The middle size, for sure. The smallest size I’ve noticed people like when they’re buying it for their pets (would work well marketed as a baby blanket too). The middle size is a good average size blanket for sitting with on the couch, and the biggest size is more like a typical throw blanket and fits a twin size bed 😊

Hi Mandy, i cant seem to find the blanket Velveteen Minky by Pic the Gift. I see only Velveteen Microfiber Blanket and the plush? Did they rename them?
Thank you so much for the svg tip!! ❤ I always struggle with the resolution when I go from canva to printify. I was afraid I would have to go to photoshop to save the file big enough.
Thank you so much! You are the best! I'm still having trouble. Printify is saying that the SVG file is too big. My resolution shows up as High but only at 119 DPI and it won't allow me to upload the SVG file. Any advice?
Great video! Thank you. Just today, I started thinking about adding blankets to my shop and, like magic, your video fell in my lap! I am interested in starting with custom-name blankets. Do you have a video tutorial for custom-name blankets? If so, can reply with a link? Thank you. Just subscribed!
This is a very helpful video thank you. I was especially interested with the information about the blankets quality after washing multiple times, but have you put them in a dryer also? About Printify, do they then convert the design to a png from a svg automatically?
Newbie to your channel. After reading your bio, before I watch this video, I hit subscribe! I'm currently an HR Coordinator and recruiter. I've been Tubing dozens of POD gurus but have yet to settle on my goto content creator.. till now that is. Im sure that we are on the same wave when it comes to getting off the wheel and tapping into the passive for ourselves. I do need some advice and direction, so I'll go through your other videos. Thanks!!
Love this video. Thank you. Very infomative. I really wish the blankets were not white on one side! I understand the sublimation process (I do that myself for smaller items). White polyester is the best for sublimation printing. White would just get so dirty and stained. 😢
Hi Mandy, great video as always of course haha :) I have a question...on one section of your video you talked about things you should mention (to set realistic expectations for the customer) and I understood all of them except the part about gaping from the back to the front (how that's normal) I'm not sure what that is? Could you explain that to me so I know how to set expectations lol :) I have only tried one blanket myself and I believe it was the Velveteen Plush for my kiddo and it turned out cute enough (though it was a dark purple and you can definitely notice the white like you showed) but it is pretty cute and its really soft but I might stick with the Minky after watching just to be safe lol and the ligher colors LOL :D
Hi Mandy. Thank you so much for this video! Have you made a video on how to create a blanket design in Canva? How to match patterns and such so it will print properly? I'm having issues with this step. Thank you again!
Hi i recently started creating blanket designs through canva, some of my designs are between 250-300 dpi i always try to get it closer to 300 or just 300 but would it be better for me to go back and download them as SVG instead of PNG so that the quality can be better for printify???? please if you can answer that would be awesome ty so much!!
I understand that this is not an overnight success business but for example, I see some shops very successful selling kids blanket 30x40 at $18.5 with $4.88 shipping (customized), for me selling same blanket size with Printify I need to sell it at $29.50 with $6.99 shipping just to get $4.25 profit. So even that I do all the other stuff correctly people don't buy from me because of price. One of the shops very successful with 36 sold blankets in 24 hours the blanket title is "Plush Minky Personalized Baby Name Blanket - 30" x 40", that is it, so even that the title does not have all the characters needed still selling very well.
How do you get around the copy right issue some etsy shops have had with locations. many city, state and national park names are not allowed to be used legally. thank you for making this video. im still learning about etsy.
I set up my store Ninjastitchings I think I'm only 30 days in no sales yet but I love my designs I think my store looks awesome. I worry about the blankets pricing of the small showing, but The Velveteen Plush Blanket small is only 30 by 40 inches which famous is smaller than a bath towel lol. I'm much more interested in someone buying my design then profit so I hope to at least cover the cost of of everything. I wish I would have started this so long ago but now everything is so easy. Every time I run into a situation where I would need to ask a question I tell Bard exactly what I'm doing and what I'm trying to figure out. Bard will even tell you where to click.
Hello Mandy :) Thank you so much for such valuable information. I have a question. Are blankets always white as their base? Can I request the same color as where my design is? Thank you Mandy ✨
The blanket base product itself is white (sublimation is nearly always done on white due to the process), but you can change the background color to anything (I show how to change the background color in a more recent video on designing a pattern for a blanket) 😊
O wow thank you so much for your reply Mandy - it’s New Years Eve here in Australia and my husband and I are about to rewatch your “3 Strategies to make 2024 your BEST year yet” and plan the year out professionally personally and Etsy wise (I’m also in HR) - but def hit burnout and need a different plan and your videos have really resonated with me - wishing you a fantastic 2024 also Mandy - Hank you for your content ❤🎉
I’ve wanted to add blankets, but when I pull the template into photopea, it crashes my computer. I thought about getting a better computer, but someone told me they had a better one and blanket templates still crash theirs. So I just stopped trying. I can’t even get to the point of designing because it happens as soon as I load the template. Any suggestions?
Start with a much smaller template and export it as an svg. SVGs are scalable, which means you can start with a very small design and make it very big without losing resolution. I talk more about designing in a more recent video on designing a trend on blankets 😊
@@studiomdesignsco if I’m using the templates provided by the printing companies, how do I use a much smaller template? I’ve tried creating my own but with all the different areas (bleed area, safe area, etc) it was a pain.
Reviews on Printify are based on the provider, not the product, so my guess is one or more of the other Pic the Gift products is pulling the cumulative score down
Isn't there any other fabric available then only these synthetic / polyester that pollute our waters with plastic nanoparticals? We need our oceans & fishes...🤷 Blessings 🙏🕊️🌟
The sublimation process has to be done on polyester. Which is using special ink that is heated and turns into a gas that permanently infuses into the fabric. If you try and sublimate on cotton, it will fade and wash out pretty quickly.

Yes, I saw it. And I had a doubt, that's why I asked. Thank you very much for responding. I appreciate it a lot.
hello i noticed that the price on etsy are very low like 9 USD and 14usd. while on printify the prices start from 11usd to 60 USD.
Thank you!! So helpful
Is your favourite blanket still available on Pic The Gift ? There are no Minky versions anymore just Sherpa or microfibres or sweatshirt ?
Yep, they just recently renamed it - it’s the Velveteen Microfiber one 😊
O wow thank you so much for your reply Mandy - it’s New Years Eve here in Australia and my husband and I are about to rewatch your “3 Strategies to make 2024 your BEST year yet” and plan the year out professionally personally and Etsy wise (I’m also in HR) - but def hit burnout and need a different plan and your videos have really resonated with me - wishing you a fantastic 2024 also Mandy - Hank you for your content ❤🎉
Thank you, Mandy!
If I want to print a picture from AI onto my blanket, how can I do it? Do you have any vdo thank you.
Pic the Gift Velveteen Minky wins!
I am following your video and if possible could you please help me ? My design from Canva is bigger than 20Mb. What should I do ? Thank you
Printify does not allow me to upload, it says file is larger than 20Mb
Is it now called the Velveteen Microfiber? I cant find the velveteen minky.
Yep! They changed the name of it a few months back Velveteen Microfiber is the new name 😊
@studiomdesignsco Thanks!
Thank you so much for the detailed review! However, I find Printify a bit pricey... looking for a more budget friendly supplier ;)
Hi, can you tell me what canvas measurements can be used for blankets? I can't take your course because I don't speak English
Thank you
✅
how come the Velveteen Minky Blanket has a 7.7 review and the rest has 9+
Reviews on Printify are based on the provider, not the product, so my guess is one or more of the other Pic the Gift products is pulling the cumulative score down
thank you, one more question, is it a big deal if the image says low resolution. would it make a big difference@@studiomdesignsco
Good morning 😀❤️
Good morning!! ✨💜
I wish I could afford your course /membership but I have $0.00 sales :(

Isn't there any other fabric available then only these synthetic / polyester that pollute our waters with plastic nanoparticals? We need our oceans & fishes...🤷 Blessings 🙏🕊️🌟
The sublimation process has to be done on polyester. Which is using special ink that is heated and turns into a gas that permanently infuses into the fabric. If you try and sublimate on cotton, it will fade and wash out pretty quickly.
@@jenniferwildman2083 Thank You for Your info! 🙏 Then it could be better to do embroidered designs...🤔🤷
@@jenniferwildman2083 Yet three are many using 100% cotton & organic Cotton...🤔
I tried blankets for 4 months...didn't sell a one. In fact, didn't even have anyone come to my shop.
