Your positive energy is so contagious Lizbeth! You gave me courage to pursue manga as a career, thank you for that ! Good luck with the fifth volume ! I'm totally being it when it comes out !

The up close and personal angle with the black speech bubble and along with the bird's eye view of the gray out character, those were my favorite. Can you do a tutorial on character's props?
I associate greyed out characters with memories like when a character is dying and they think back the characters they're thinking about is almost always greyed out.
I was sitting and waiting for the video and it came at the perfect time... currently doing pencils for my comic Edit:I love how great your tutorials are. You explain things well with visual examples which is awesome for me. Thank you
GOD! What good timing. I am currently making pages for a test comic and I've been struggling to draw emotions and expressions for each panel. THANK YOU! 😤👌🤣
I liked what you said about putting the gray on characters makes the scene feel more ominous and sad/dark But I remember reading a manga few years ago and the saddest scenes were completely white and bright (no gradient, no Grey) so after watching this video, I don't get why these scenes were very sad and emotional yet very clean and bright Is it because bright panels convey emptiness?? Can white feels sad?
Fuck yeah I'm turning in notifications for this series. I'm working on a manga series myself and while its slow as hell(because I procrastinate ) its fun. I need this series a whole lot.
Honestly im not even trying to make a manga, but I do want to write novels. This advice even those it is based around manga work still helps me in figuring out how to tell my stories, and maybe one day ill try to delve into graphic novel/comic type stories
I'm currently working on my own manga and this is so interesting and helpful! Its really good to know that I'm on the right track with my manga when Ive been using similar techniques! I definitely need to practice the bird/worm eye perspective! Thank you so much!! Ive been watching you since 2016 and your videos never fail to get me motivated and work hard!! Ah yes I shall store this knowledge for future use (I'm trying to catch up on my school work so that I can start drawing AND _THEN_ maybe make some small comics lol) Mama Mushroom knowledge is best knowledge :3
I personally am also fond of closeups of the eyes. It can have a very raw feeling to it, and eyes themselves are fascinating and sorta have a captivating quality to them. Its really great for showing what the character is feeling without showing their face. But I’m also a fan of the black speech bubble, though I more use it to tell a reader that the dialogue is extremely important and should be kept in mind while reading from then on!
My favorite one was probably the "but that was years ago one" Feels so dramatic and powerful and distant at the same time. Idk how to really describe it but it was very useful and I plan to use these techniques for my own comic. Thanks Lizbeth Also yo dog, is the cutest dog I've ever seen tell em I adore him!!
I took a Comics and Graphic Novels class last semester and I was so excited for it. Didn't learn the things I wanted to learn though. You literally taught me some of the things I wanted to know in the span of 18 minutes.
OMG!❤ REALLY?! That makes me seriously happy to know!!☺❤ Please let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to cover! I'm always looking for new tutorial ideas❤
I love you so much! You helped me so much! I've had Ideas and characters for my manga. Ive wrote a few things but today is the day i take it more seriously.
Mama Mushroom!! This was exactly what I needed for my own series. I'm drawing the practice pages for Chapter 3. I couldn't have gotten to this point without watching your videos!! Thank you!!!
In my own work I personally love using negative space and close ups. I recently did an adaptation of Oliver twist for my Thesis project and when the main character is shocked i did a close up as to empathize the impact of the shock but when there is worry or weight there is silence, negative space. Another effective way to make emotions is lay out. Planning panels and pages to really empizie that weight can help push how much of a impact you have. Big splash panels can show the grand weight of things then if you did them smaller.
Wooooah!! I'm currently making a webtoon to practice story writing and comic making so learning these techniques from you will be fun to try out! It's a pretty random story I made of my friends so that's why it works out to practice before actual comic stories lol
I'm so glad you're back Lizbeth. Your advice was very helpful. Thanks! Also, I remember in one of your earlier videos how you said your character's name "Joseph" was an optional name, but then his character began to better fit the name. I found it interesting because I did the same thing with one of my characters. I really like the way you drew him. Looking forward to the next video.
Love it - you're so smart Mama Mushroom! The tip that really struck me was greying out characters for the ominous feeling, I hadn't thought about that before but the mood of the image was so different
Awesome advise, stuff like this is very useful to me cause I'm currently drawing my comic. One thing I struggle with is panels themselves, I never know how to use them effectively. All my panels are just rectangles after rectangles with the occasional 'panel-less panel' if that makes sense. (also you have gotten a lot better over the years, which scares me because you were already great to start with. Don't you have a limit on your power?!)
I love the 2nd trick in this video ❤️ I guess may be I would like to see how to make the "right amount" for a manga, how to manga story not to short or too long basically
👏👏 NEXT MEME 👏👏 LOL. Thank you so muchhh for the information!!! Im gonna try the bird view! It's really helpful for my Webtoon! Thank you so muchhh love youuuu ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wonderful!! The whole video I was sat taking notes - loved it! But the thing I'd LOVE to see more of is storytelling! More moods, more special effects, how do I make a mediocre manga into an AMAZING manga? I'd love to know how many panels is TOO many panels in one page. How do I understand bleed/dimensions? How long should I try to spend on a page? (is one day too long?) Little things like this, I hope these questions will give you an idea for your next videos! I can't wait to see more

This is going to take me some time to get use too. I am good with making expression but I have a hard time making different angles. That's why I made my characters with more of a cartooney body because I suck at human anatomy. I can't even make fingers right of toes. I did wanted to make my series a Manga but I will focus on graphic novel.
