Doing my first oil change today. I'm at 20 hours. Also swapping out the rear coil. Got a softer one from Racetech as I ride more gnarly single track and hard enduro. I know the Stark isn't really built for that as it's on the heavy side compared to my gas bikes, but I still love to play in that stuff.

Is that little amount of oil all of the gear oil capacity??? It seems to be very little, even for cooling purpose of the gear. Thanks for your videos, waiting for my Varg to be delivered.

I’ve read that the oil is supposed to be changed after 5 hours for the break in, in the manual. They also say that it should be replaced every 40 hours afterwards, in the service intervals chapter. Maybe they expect it to be like that after the break in and that’s why they tell the owner to do a first oil change so soon. (I haven’t ordered a Varg yet because I’d like to hear some users reviews first, bur the main reason I have a strong interest for it is, incidentally, the supposed little maintenance required).

  • @mxengineer1

Thanks for the video! Sometimes manufacturers will install oils with special additive packages for break in - wonder if Stark did the same? Perhaps the new Valvoline gear oil you installed will come out looking better on the next oil change!

Not suprising the oil volume is so low. You just need some gear lubrication. There's no clutch slipping, gear dog legs slamming together or shift components.
The color of the oil is suprising. As mentioned in the video, maybe there's some additive? Hard to believe that came from the gears alone. Any ideas on whether this oil touches the motor? Almost looks like contaminates from brushes, though i assume this is a brushless motor?

Be interesting to see if the oil is any better.
