I would hang out down there all day. It’s got such a cozy vibe for watching movies. Need a little popcorn machine in that snack section once you get it made. 🍿
Dude, you did a fantastic job making this look like a mini video store. How you cant see all the shelves from one spot and need to walk around corners to get to the alcove horror section (no better spot for that genre) makes it so amazing. I love how you laid out the floor plan, even if it’s just working with what you have. Incredible collection. Someday I want to make a video of my VHS tape room, its wall to wall stacked, almost all horror and action and weird obscure stuff, couple shelves in the middle like the one you have. But it’s all VHS lol. It’s nothing close to what you have though!
Came here after viewing your horror collection video, which was awesome. Been collecting since VHS days, fell off for a while and this video is inspiring me to turn my shelves/binders into much more.
What an amazing movie room and collection, Kyle, and nicely organized too. Naturally, the organizing never fully ends for a collector, but everything is looking fantastic! :)
I learned a lot about older formats I had not heard of, very interesting. Taking your time to show everything is great. Thank you for sharing your amazing collection!
Awesome video of your collection. This is something I want to do if I had a much bigger room. I only have two book shelfs, an old six drew chestier, five plastic small office box of DVDs.

Thank you! one of my dream jobs wouldn’t be a projectionist! Wish it was still a job. it sounds like you had a amazing childhood experience with getting to see the “behind the scenes” of a theater! very jealous! :)
Wow! That is a super impressive, sir. All of this is awesome but honestly the one thing that really stuck out to me was all the film trailers you had. I used to work at a theater and we'd of course just throw out trailers when the movie release. All these years later, especially growing more as a collector, I am really kicking myself for not hanging to at least some of those trailers. Anyways, that's awesome that you were able to acquire that lot. Fantastic collection all-around.
Very cool space ya got there! You were able to use the space you have well. I started collecting roughly 4 years ago. I used to rent films all the time but once the Blockbuster and other video stores closed, I started collecting myself. My collection isn’t as broad-not even close-to what you have. I am overjoyed to see how many VHS tapes you've salvaged and given homes. And I could kiss you for saving all the prints and lost/forgotten media formats.
Thank you, im working on getting some better shelving and someone just made me aware of stacking vhs like how I have them isnt good so im working on fixing that

After watching your video, I now want to go thrifting lol I love the idea of space saver cases.. I might have to do that now for some of the collections I’m working on to make it easier to add when I acquire them! Thanks for sharing.
@@kylesmoviecollection one question… for example, your best picture section- I assume you have duplicate movies? Because like I’m the waterfront is a best pic but also a criterion. I like to be able to put movies together in themes or categories but it gets difficult to be complete when they can be in more than one place

Damn, Kyle, this is a really cool set-up! One of the drawbacks of living up here in Canada is that you can't find half of these DVDs up here. They just don't exist here. And the ones that do have French all over the packaging so they look ugly and cramped. Having a room like this would be a dream. Enjoy, man!

Wow great room, would love to have something like that. I still have way too many VHS tapes. Anyway I gotta ask, do you have the orginal Star Wars movie from 1977?
Thank you! So I have original VHS releases of the film and the original laserdiscs so I have the closest thing to the original cut of the film that is available on physical media.
Hi, I just started watching your videos and subbed, I live in northeastern Ohio myself, they had a Family video store in Ashtabula I believe. Nice room!
amazing collection and setup, but I just started to watch the video so I don't know if you address this later, but I don't see a lot of empty space to put your future BR, 4k and DVDs or media in general.
Thank you! I am running out of space but im in the process of going through everything and getting rod of stuff I dont want to make space for the stuff I do want!
@@kylesmoviecollection can't believe you have movies in super 8, can I ask how expensive are they nowadays? for instance something like patton, which I guess must come in a lot of rolls, how much does it set you back?
So I got most of my super 8 films from a thrift shop for like $5-10 each, Patton is actually just a “trailer” so its only one small reel, I think it was like $7. My most expensive super 8 was 17 minutes of star wars, I got it off ebay for like $45-50 I cant remember exactly. Super 8 isnt too expensive but like 16mm can be expensive and 35mm features are any where from $400-$2000 depending on the movie. My dream is to have a 35mm feature someday!
Wow! Fascinating video, what an insane collection. 2 questions - have you seen all of these (+extras?) ? Also when watching do you get distracted by your smart phone? The reason I ask that is when I’m trying to get through a collection of movies I find I get distracted by my phone a lot especially when a film is dragging and difficult to get into.
Thank you for the question, I have not seen them all and I’ll probably have something new to watch for the rest of my life lol I find my self watching mostly criterion and horror movies, and yes its hard to stay focused on a film when watching it at home, what Ive been trying to do is put my phone across the room face down so I cant even see if I get a notification. I think we live in a world with a lot of distractions and they cause us to moss the beauty in the slow parts of life. It’s something Im really trying to get better at!
@@kylesmoviecollection thanks for your reply, really appreciate it. I enjoyed your top 24 video too and wrote down a few of your picks I hadn’t seen. Totally agree with you on Star Wars and Kubrick. I would have them both in my top 10 and at least one Paul Thomas Anderson film, I’m also a huge fan of Darren Aronofsky.
6:43 is it ok to store those VHS tapes like that they should be stored like books with the spines up and down, because storing them like you're doing will put strain on the edges of the tapes

Have you watched all the Criterion movies you own? I have about 75% of the collection and have not watched most of the newer releases. No time these days!
I would say I’ve seen about half of what I own in regards to criterion. When ever I have any free time for watching movies I usually gravitate towards criterion so Im slowly working my way through them! also 75%! That’s amazing! Im jealous!
Greetings from foggy olde England. Many thanks for this video of your amazing film collection I love it and it’s so inspirational. You have done a great job of the room too. Please make a video of your horror collection, I notice several Universal monster VHS tapes and would like a closer look at that horror section. Do you have a region free DVD or Blu-Ray player. I just bought a region free player for several DVDs and Blus I have from the USA as most of my collection are region 2 and B. Physical media lives on through people like you and you are a star for doing what you do and your love of collecting shines through. Cheers.
Comments like this makes me want to keep making videos! Thank you for your kind words they mean a lot! Im hoping to do a video going over all my horror movies! Unfortunately I dont have a region free player but one is high on my list!
It just makes me think of old or didn’t sell well formats. VHS, Beta and I think there was another brand all competing for the Video tape market, the VHS was the cheapest to make which made it sell and became the video tape format for most people. The Laserdisc was too complex for the VHS home video dominated market at the time, and by the time it might have took off the DVD came about. HD VHS tapes started becoming a thing in the early 00’s but by that point the DVD was hitting big, even though the HD VHS would’ve actually been higher quality to the standard DVD. HD DVD and Blu Ray were fighting it out in 2007 and 2008 but Blu Ray won that fight. So be it Beta tapes, Laserdiscs, HD VHS tapes, HD DVD’s, and other failed formats it’s interesting how some formats so really well and other don’t. Though it’s usually the cheapest option that sells better to the home market.
Yesterday I spent a few hours sorting through all the wires to finally hook up my vhs, laser disc and a dvd player to a CRT TV, and yes, it's a million times better than a modern tv for viewing those. If you want to get that video-8 player fixed, check out the 12voltvids channel. I only have about 2500 in my collection, but it was fun seeing all the history of your tapes and other formats. I'd recommend putting together a Clint Eastwood section if you don't already have one!
Incredible!! I’m wondering though, are you finally at capacity? Do you have space to grow your collection or must you get rid of things in order to add new titles? 10k is a remarkable achievement and I hope you can continue to grow 📈
Im about at capacity, since making this video I have gotten rid of a lot of vhs to make room for other stuff. Im probably going to have to make some new, more efficient shelving in the near future

Thank you! So I have original VHS releases of the film and the original laserdiscs so I have the closest thing to the original cut of the film that is available on physical media.
damm.. i threw all of my vhs tapes, even dvds .. i just stored my movies in hard disk .. your place look like a video store
Hi, I just started watching your videos and subbed, I live in northeastern Ohio myself, they had a Family video store in Ashtabula I believe. Nice room!
Thank you! Yeah I went to several of the family videos all over when they were closing down… Wish I bought one of their disc cleaning machines!
I like that i wannn setup my own physical media at home
amazing collection and setup, but I just started to watch the video so I don't know if you address this later, but I don't see a lot of empty space to put your future BR, 4k and DVDs or media in general.
@@kylesmoviecollection good luck mate, dreams can come true!
amazing collection and awsome video i love it :)
thank you!
Mighty impressive Sir!
Thank you!
Your missing a D-Theater HD DVHS vcr. Very cool collection. I prefer vhs on a crt tv as well.
Yeah, D-Theater vcrs are sooo expensive so maybe someday i’ll find a cheap one
It's magnificent!
thank you!
It would be nice to hear more about your equipment. AVR, speakers, amps, screen, TV, etc.
im hoping to do a video soon going over all my TV stuff!
great room
I bet you can get high in that room with all the fumes coming off that film 😂
I just came across this. Great video. I’m shocked at your collection.
I thought the adult section was behind the blue curtain. 😂
Each time he says umm take a drink. 😊 jk
Wow Totally Awesome Movie Room Tour Bro I Luv those Film Reel Canister's Plus VHS Tapes I Also Share the Same Goal of Making a Feature Film On 16mm. 🎬📼
Thank you!
Im jealous!
Awesome collection and room just subbed 😀
Thank you!
Awesome collection!
Thank you!
I absolutely love learning about physical media history and talking about the different formats!
Niiice, this makes me want to build my own and escape into celluloid... I have 600 movies 🤭 so a long way to go (10,000 +). 👏
I started off my collection with only like 12 movies!
Great video and collection mate, have subbed!
Cheers
JT
Thank you!
Thank you! I’ll check out that channel! and I actually might do a Clint Eastwood section, I have a lot of his movies!
Bravo to you Sir! 👏👏👏
Thank you!
Holy hell i wanna live in here
I have over 5700 in my collection ❤
Do you watch them all
20:34 I didn't know about these dvix formats
Just subscribed from the thumbnail it looks like a legendary room trying to give me a cinemasickness if you watch his not check out his room tour video can't wait to watch the video
Cinemasickness was one of the first channels that inspired me to collect physical media!
