- Three part series recorded July 1 2018 on installing an after-market foglight kit in my 2014 VW Jetta wagon. This video shows installing the new lights and running the wires from the relay to the new lights. Part 2 will show hooking up the power, while Part 3 will show final hook up to the switch and checking the functions. I followed instructions from ECS Tuning with minor changes. Tools: Trim removal tools, 10mm wrench & socket, T25 Torx bit, 13mm socket & extensions, coat hanger, tape, 8mm socket, round file, pick tool, magnifying lens, pliers. I suggest replacing the bulbs with Osram HB4 Nightbreakers. Bulbs in the kit burned out a couple months after installation.
You’re video is pretty good!help me so my
I'm glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.
Hello, great video and very helpful. I have a 2014 Sportwagen TDI and I have a big AIrbox in the way so its difficult to see where you installing the brown wire. Did you have the airbox as well and if so, was it difficult to remove?
No, there’s no air box on the gas engine car. The brown wire is ground. Any screw or bolt that goes to the metal body will work. I’d look for a black wire that goes to ground anywhere nearby. I hope that helps. Stay healthy and 6’ from others. I hope that sounds/looks strange in a few months!
@@alanwbelcher Ah right, Mine is a diesel and yours is not. Well, I took the airbox out as it gave me much more room to work. I also didnt have to remove the battery tray to get the blue wire through the firewall thank goodness, sounds like that was a pain. All I have left is to pull our the switch and install the blue cable. Again, your videos were extremely helpful, Thanks for taking the time to make them.
Alan, did you have any issue with the auto function of the new headlight switch? My headlights are staying on the entire time the car is running, and not going off. May be related to an LED headlight install we did at the same time as the fog light upgrade, but wanted to ask you first
Thanks for watching and for your question. I don’t think my VW had auto headlights, so I can’t say. I didn’t have any issues with the fogs or headlights after the installation however. I will suggest that making 2 changes at the same time can make it difficult to isolate a problem.
Where did you get the GIT badge from
Hahaha! The grille was an aftermarket knock-off GTI version and I couldn’t remove the lettering mount so I just pried off the letters and mixed them up. I got the grille on eBay years ago, made in Slovakia. Thanks for watching.
@@alanwbelcher well I just got my fog lights installed so I'm pretty happy now, cheers mate
Congratulations! Have fun!!
Can u provide links for the kit and euro switch
Unfortunately I can't. They were purchased from eBay 3+ years ago & were not listed by the time I posted the video, otherwise I would have shared the info. Try searching eBay.
What’s euro switch?
What is the bulb size?
I replaced the original crappy bulbs with Osram HS-4 bulbs. Thanks for watchin!
@@alanwbelcher those are 9006 right?
That’s right
Where did you buy the kit from???
Sorry for the delay, didn't see it. It was an eBay item. It was a couple years ago & when I checked a year ago same kit wasn't listed. Have you done an eBay search? As I recall it was the cheapest one I could find on there. I think I mentioned, the bulbs with the kit were garbage and burned out in a few months.
