Hi
OK.
you deserve the four million
Nah ima be honest, these flag fridays (or any day) are for the OG’s. We love the extra info about the flags since they were part of the original episodes too (and fan mail is great I love it)
I'm working through learning all the flags and having a story around it makes it so much easier.
I don't know why people don't watch flag day videos. We can learn a lot more about the country from their flag and emblem.
Uganda has a really cool flag, love that grey crowned crane strutting in the middle.
Wow thanks dear
@@aminahkalule6594 anytime; a good look is a good look.
11:28 Penicillin was invented in St Mary's Hospital, London in 1928. This guy must be talking about how 30 years later in Michigan a more efficient method for its synthesis was discovered by John C. Sheehan.
0:18 The letter “C” stands for “Caesarean”, not Julius 😅 as most people think, but after the Latin word « caesus » = to cut . 😊 And so, we also call “C-section” : a “Caesarean section” !!! 😊👍
(une « Césarienne » in 🇫🇷)
I love these videos, so even if it gets less views, I will happily watch it.
Thank you barbs, I know these videos don’t get as many views, but it’s still important for people trying to research more about a country and you’ve given more recourses, thank you. I also enjoy watching you interact with your fans!
I actually enjoy the Flag/Fan videos more than the actual country videos. PS: I guess you made NO mistakes for the 1st time in the Uganda episode? That's a first, right? Or did you just forget?
Me too ❤❤❤
I'll never stop watching these
Gotta love to know the symbolisms of flags
Afghans : ha we were first.
Zimbabwe : we will have the best quality video since barbs improved so much

It was not in Uganda. It is called the "Uganda Scheme" but it was in a very small land area in modern-day Kenya roughly around the area of what is today Uasin Gishu county. Which back then was barely populated.
Yes that is correct
@ME_94
No, it wasn't. It was in 1902. And your second comment makes absolutely no sense.
I forgot to mention that when I watched the main video about Uganda I loved Art's black turtleneck sweater. Not only did he look quite handsome, less sporty and more elegant with it, but it also looked like Art had become merely a floating head thanks to the black canvas behind him. 😆
All love and Support from Bahrain 🇧🇭❤️
I just like your unbiased talk
Listen to UG SKYWALKIN. He’s a Ugandan American singer in Indiana.
Ugandan is home to the Guinness world record holding youngest monarch ,King Oyo of Tooro.
Whose aunt Princess Bagaya was the first black woman on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar and among the first black women on Vogue magazine.
She was first East African woman to be called to the English bar and First female lawyer in Uganda. 🤯🤯.
I CANT WAIT FOR THE UK EPISODE ITS GONNA BE INTERESTING🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Ukraine: Oh boy I hope he’s prepared for my episode
I just want to say. I love these episodes just as much as the main ones because I love hearing about the flags meaning and importance to their country. Keep them coming.
Normally don't comment much, but these Flag episodes are just as important as the main country episode
I watch all the flag/fan days 😎
Art!! You're killin' me!!😂😁😂🤣🤣🤣😂
Beautiful flag 😂 🇺🇬 yes am Ugandan
“The Uganda plan” is something that EVERY Israeli student know about, we learn about it for our finals, it is what barbs mentioned in the beginning of the video about the plan to create Israel in today’s Uganda. Crazy that it actually almost happened!
Fun fact it actually was planned to be established in Eastern Kenya)))
Uganda is the land that flows with milk and honey. So Israel wanted the land so bad because it knows that it is the fake Israel. Their land is completely dry the opposite of the promised land.

I love these episodes! Always waiting for them, don’t change, please 😊❤❤❤
Fan Friday featuring my favorite Geography Now canine host? I didn’t think it could get this good!
Honestly speaking, I love fan Fridays because its kinda informal and entertaining…
Cool episode. Thanks Paul and Art. Snowy greetings from below zero ... Estonia. Jaanika.
I love Flag/Fan day videos.
Uganda be kidding me, I just watched the Uganda episode!
Probably still could have done an animation for "The Blood of those who act as our brothers! The Blood of those who act as our brothers!"
Good luck with the Ukraine episode. That's gonna be a big one too with all recent events.
The Shield and spears means uganda is protected and created crane standing with one leg means uganda is moving forward 👍 thank for loving my country ❤🇺🇬🇺🇬
But are we really moving forward
Good to see that I'm not the only Basque watching the channel! ;P Thanks to the Geography Now for this sense of community you all have created!
Wow It's really amazing 🇺🇬 visit Uganda. Our love and brotherhood is real
Great video as always.
Five more episodes until my country of the United States!
Can't wait to see who's guess starring... Because you can just use your friends xD music section with Keith will be super easy since he can just show off all of his collections made in America.
The coat of arms is very similar to the one of Chile, like extremely similar, I wonder if it's a coincidence or both are inspired on something.
i was hoping for a blood animation but no :(
guess i have to wait for the uae episode
I'm from Detroit, lived in Tennessee, South Carolina, and now Boston, Massachusetts. Michigan will forever be where my heart is for its natural beauty and its down to earth people. If it weren't for economic opportunity differences and a walkable city here in Boston, I'd move back to my home state in a heartbeat.
Shout outs to fellow Michigan grograpeeps!
Oh and PStheRebels are actually super dope. I checked them out, and I recommend you do too if you like old school rap with good flow and lyrics with a passionate message.
Thank you barbs and team for all the work you do for these. You're making the world a better place! Flag episodes are great imo.
These episodes r great!
Nice. Very good to discover signification of colors and animals of flags

It is one from West Germany, one from East Germany and one from Tunisia...
Honestly I love the flag videos since I have a fascination for vexillology. I skip the fan mail part though 😅
Actually the hertzl "Uganda plan" wasn't in Uganda at all it's in modern day Kenya (uasin gishu county). The borders back in the early 1900s weren't entirely set since both countries were in British East Africa so people considered the rift valley/lake Victoria region "Uganda".
I love Tarcin. I think Tarcin is my favorite member of the Geography Now team.
Let’s agree to call it the *crested* crane😂
Happy new year, Barby
Great flag Friday Barbs!
I know in your early videos you discussed the flag in the country segment. For what country did you first create the separate Fan Flag Friday? Love these!
That was a Tunisian Dinar coin with the West German currency if you didn't notice
My friend was Ugandan. His name is Levin I had him as a friend since childhood in school years in first grades in Sweden.
10:56 Hi all. 🙂 Here in Vietnam, it’s the CAT Year. 🤗♥️🇻🇳
Why not the “Rabbit” ??? 😮
Maybe both have the same taste? 😂
Well, in China, the rabbit was chosen to represent the earthly branch called Mao. But in Vietnamese, the pronunciation of Mao can be very similar to how the word "cat" (Meo in Vietnamese 🇻🇳) is pronounced. “Mao” doesn't necessarily mean cat or rabbit. 😅
And maybe because the cat looks more majestic because it also resembles a little tiger. 😉👍🐯
To most Vietnamese, the cat is a firm family friend that helps protect crops and food from rodents, while also chasing away bad spirits and bringing good luck. Despite this, cats can still appear on the menu in rural areas of Hanoï, although authorities have banned the practice. I’ve never eaten cat, but only a dog’s rib or a rat leg. 😅
PS: there’s another story in the Chinese zodiac mythology that says why the cat replaces the rabbit. 😊
And here’s the story. 😊
The Cat is the 4th animal symbol in the 12-year cycle of the Vietnamese zodiac and Gurung zodiac, taking place of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac.
As such, the traits associated with the Rabbit are attributed to the Cat. Cats are in conflict with the Rat.
Legends relating to the order of the Chinese zodiac often include stories as to why the cat was not included among the twelve. Because the Rat tricked the cat into missing the banquet with the Jade Emperor, the cat was not included and was not aware that the banquet was going on and was not given a year, thus began the antipathy between cats and rats. It is possible domesticated cats had not proliferated through China at the zodiac's induction.
Another legend known as "The Great Race" tells that all the animals in the zodiac were headed to the Jade Emperor. The Cat and Rat were the most intelligent of the animals, however they were both also poor swimmers and came across a river. They both tricked the kind, naïve Ox to assist them by letting them ride on its back over the river. As the Ox was approaching the other side of the river, the Rat pushed the Cat into the river, then jumped off the Ox and rushed to the Jade Emperor, becoming the first in the zodiac. All the other animals made it to the Jade Emperor, while the Cat was left to drown in the river after being sabotaged by the Rat. It is said that this is also the reason cats always hunt rats. 😊
(Thanks to Wikipedia 😉👍)
Me literally watching Uganda episode for 10th time and new video poped up
Art: Let's eat these right now.
Tarcin: OK!!
I’ll be going to Uganda this year 😊 to build a school
What an episode that was.
thanks for the info
Never been this early for a flag/fan friday
Happy lunar new year!
Yay Art! My mom is also from Washington state (the Walla Walla area) and I have a lot of family who live in Milton-Freewater and the Tri-Cities areas as well. Have to ask are you a Cougar or Huskies fan?
Anyway, I love this channel. Especially these episodes about the various countries and nations in Africa (even though I'm not from Africa myself). Keep up the great work!
Great video.
I'm already very interested in what content's going to be in the Ukraine episode.
OT, I've been watching videos about Chicago. It does fascinate me.
I think about this flag a lot… that bird, man, that bird.
Let's goo barbs🔥 we 18 are loving watching this
Nothing about Operation Entebbe?
I had watched almost all the episodes since Afghanistan
That doesn't mean that i started watching it since the Afghanistan video was uploaded
Maybe this was already mentioned on the main video (not digging through 1600 comments to make sure), but Lou Bega, aka the "Mambo No.5" guy, is half Ugandan. His name is actually David Lubega Balemezi, born to a Ugandan father and an Italian mother in Germany in 1975. Not exactly the origin you'd expect for the singer of one of the biggest Latin hits of 1999, but there you go. (Also, props to whoever came up with the idea of taking his middle name "Lubega" and splitting it to make the far more Latin-sounding "Lou Bega" out of that.)
This is good....i like it. The Drum represents culture across the land.
Uganda has such a cool flag, that Crane in the middle reminds of Mexico's flag with the eagle. And the colors are kinda similar to Germany's flag as well
Love that flag
Have a nice vid everyone !
YES IT'S OUT!
Re do Mauritius
A lot has changed
did you know that one of the famous music artists in Uganda had a presidential campaign? his name is bobi wine & lost the lastest election 2 years ago
By the way the coin in the middle is from tunisi1
I always liked flag fridays and i’ve been here longer than my youtube account!
Art!!!
6:11 The coin on the left is from the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) and the one in the middle from Tunisia.
Also, I think the coin from the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany) says 1994 so that was after the reunification.
6:12 the left one is actually east Germany. And the central one....eeehhh...figure it out by yourself :D
Love you my motherland Uganda 🇺🇬 ❤️
Anyone else think the orange, black, red combo was supposed to be some type of connection to German colonies or something like that?
Hell yeah
I used to know a guy named Orville. He directed me in a few plays. He's kind of a friend.
Yey, Uganda! Come and I also teach Luganda. :)
Speaking of Ugandan Jews, the Abayudaya people are a group of converts to Judaism. They’re pretty cool
I wish you that your finger heals quickly and well:)
Jackfruit is so expensive that's cool that they sent it from Vietnam
This is nice
the usa episode is probably going to be an hour long
The blood of those who are connected like brothers!
This flag friday got me laughing 😂
I'm a Spokanite and I was weirdly excited when you got a letter from someone living there, lol
yea
going with the boxing fact from the episode, Idi Amin was the boxing champion.
Haha. The polish guy said "flaig"
Interesting, the Ugandan Kob is anatomically correct. Honestly not trying to make it a thing but usually animals on coat of arms/flags are not that specific.
